Carenado has become an "instant purchase" dev for me. They're a good balance with reasonable prices. They're not perfect, but I sure enjoy them.

I used to be in a flying club that had an Archer II. Very nice airplane. The extra 20 HP over the Warrior made a noticeable difference in how much load it could carry. I would buy this in an instant except that, in the sim, the lack of an autopilot is a deal-breaker for me, since cross-country flights are all I do.

Thanks for a review! A bit surprised that you did not mention specifically gorgeous looking leather on a dash. It is so good, that you can almost smell it! :)
I did say texturing is a lot nicer than usual with more weathering. That dash is a nice example of the more lived in look .
Back in the day, my favorite airplane to fly! I took N47394 from Indiana to Key West once upon a time.

Worth mentioning though that there is no autopilot fitted on the aircraft. That may bother some.

I've always enjoyed Carenado's aircraft. They aren't perfect and updates in MSFS tend to be a bit sporadic (although lately they seem to be doing a much better job). Graphically they always look good. Only Carenado one I have in MSFS that I'm 'eh' on is the 182 (their first MSFS aircraft). Love the Mooney and going to be getting back in the Seneca soon.

Gorgeous as expected! I already have JustFlight's Arrow and Turbo Arrow and Carenado's Bonanza V35 and Mooney for my single engine four seat classic GA needs, but this looks like it would be great for someone who doesn't already have all of those. And seeing the worker facing off against the bear may yet convince me to buy Orbx's Bella Coola some day, that was hilarious.
I have all the JustFlight PA28s and fly this one, as it's flight model is considerably better. JF is releasing a patch soon to correct theirs, though.
Can't stop laughing about the airport dude with the bear. Makes me wonder if the sim thinks of the fauna as another type of ground vehicle.

Seemslike a nice plane! But since I already have 3 versions of the PA 28 from Just Flight, I'm not sure this is going to make it to my must have list. But still a good effort from Carenado :)

I feel like Carenado is steadily improving. Their textures and models have always been pretty good, but they are also getting better at sounds and even handling. Not perfect, but getting better, in my uneducated opinion.
Also the fact that they are using Asobo avatars instead of "Grumpy and Grumpy jr." as you so aptly call them is very welcome.

@Steve Mar. Improving only means "better than before". I didn't say they were perfect in any way.

154 cruise though, is that ktas? I've seen 135 in a -180. 154 sounds a bit fast.

Your reaction to the “terrain ahead” warning was hilarious 😂. Nice little plane, but I can’t tear myself away from the 310R for casual flying. Would you consider this to be close in quality to the JustFlight turbo arrows?
The "Terrain ahead" warning - there was a button option in the middle of the screen that said "Inhibit TAWS" that would have silenced the warning.

I'm PA28 pilot and for me, the Just Flight's one sounds way more realistic than this Carenado. Engine sound from the outside is good but not the inside's one
From my experience, the stall in the full scale isn't like this at all, the nose doesn't just drop, even with full nose up trim. The plane descent fast (around 800 fpm) keeping the same attitude
Great review, I think you talked me into another purchase. Are you sure about that 154kt cruise speed? My searches only show 125-ish.
Im sure I can get my IRL Archer to 154kts... in a dive
In all seriousness, 154kts is Vne, you are correct though that cruise is around 120ish (usually a little lower in my case since I don't have wheel fairings)

Haha in the Fenix Airbus you can pull circuit breaker P6 and P7 to silence the annoying GPWS forever. Give it a try ;) But I love this TDS Garmin GTN750 NXi navi an excellent big screen with endless functions. The weather radar is a bit unrealistic because the Archer has none. Only NexRad should function which I guess is a weather situation overview that is sent to the device via radio communication even to planes not equipped with own radar.
got my carenado planes working. possibly an assist setting that was on, or possibly the legacy issue. thanks to everyone who offered their input. i deleted my negative comment about carenado planes. now i just have to finish eating this crow 8 (
I wish there was a G1000 dash available for those of us that fly newer PA28 aircraft.

Carenado used to be the joke of the industry, and now they're releasing some seriously good aircraft.
Slap a basic AP on this and it'd be the only plane I fly.
In comparison to Just Flight's PA-28 series, which one do you prefer?
Ah, its tough to say, I like the JF arrows more, but i like my fixed gear pa-28s too, this is faster than the Warrior II with a bit more load, so i use both really.
Thinking about upgrading my 2070 card i7 cpu will it be a big graphics improvement your graphics on the video are outstanding

Hi. Does this plane have an auto-pilot?
Did this get pulled for some reason? I can't find it on the MSFS marketplace. I bought Carenado's Archer for Xplane, and it didn't have an autopilot. This one does?
Exactly what I'm asking! Really want to get a feel for the 181 before I go fly in it but it's nowhere to be found on the marketplace and none of the other P-28s have a 180hp engine
@@starrmi06 I finally found it and bought it. It does NOT have an autopilot. But, the flight characteristics of it are very realistic and stable, unlike some sim aircraft. But, trying to fly instruments without an autopilot is very difficult on a simulator. More so than the real thing. I personally, would not fly real IFR without one. Too dangerous.
@@azcharlie2009 same here actually haha, just downloaded it myself. I really wish they did have an accurate G3X in this version as well but I guess I’ll have to pick up on a lot of that watching demo videos and actual hands on training
What was causing that clicking noise? Similar noise with a Alpha/Bravo controller.
Switch conflict, one of the bravo or alpha light switches is se the opposite direction to one on the other, flip them till it stops 😀

@@bwc1976 Yep. Still awaiting a good single engine prop with both a modern autopilot and GTN 750.
Looks very nice especially considering the price. Would be very interested to see a review on the farman Goliath. Not a whole lot on the plane yet but looks very interesting

A bit disappointed in the Archer !! I just purchased it on the Marketplace and took it for an extended spin. It flew about the way I remember the Archer flew, sounded like an Archer, but I couldn't get it to work with the autopilot on my Howeywell Throttle Quadrant. Validated all the settings and went up again - still nothing. Most of my Sim-Flying is cross country - thus the disappointment. Heck, even my C-140 works with the throttle quadrant autopilot. Oh well, I'll use it for short hops around the San Juan Islands from time to time, but I have the C-140 for that. To me, I wasted $21+ bucks I could have used on other aircraft.😑
You tried the AP on the aircraft? if not, try looking in the aircraft file, you might be able to enable the AP function even if the aircaft doesn't 'have' it and use your quadrant one.
@@AvAngel I checked out two additional review videos and both state that the release does not include an autopilot. It's not a biggie. I come from a generation before autopilots and glass cockpits were commonplace in GA aircraft. I soloed in a C-140 and I'm quite comfortable navigating with nothing but a sectional chart and a compass.

It doesn't have a "bigger engine", much less a "far bigger engine" (than the Warrior). It has the same capacity Lycoming o-360 engine. It's purely the prop pitch which gives it 20hp more than the Warrior, which is set up more for cruise. It's slightly long on take off roll than the Warrior because of this.
Warrior II has a 160hp 0-320, hence PA-28-161 vs the 360 and the 180 in the Pa28-181 Archer... Most warriors do not have a 360. Prop pitch won't give you 20 extra horse power :D
