      I too agree with his review of this plane, I found it to be worth every penny that I paid for it. I also agree that it is the best GA aircraft in MSFS if not the best aircraft in MSFS period. Awesome product and thank you A2A and your team for bringing it to us. Hoping to see the beautiful accu-sim Cessna 182 Skylane to follow at some point down the road. I was excited to hear that A2A was back in the game and was not disappointed with the Comanche. Thanks again A2A!

      In the category of props I agree. But not in general. The CL650 in X-Plane is at least at that level, if not above. And business-jets belongs to the category of General Aviation.

    I used to only fly this particular GA aircraft with P3D and I really think that this will be the same in MSFS. This is mainly because, even in simulation, a few planes have "souls" and A2A ones certainly have souls. The A2A Comanche has a shiny soul, the Bonanza a darker one 😃.Thank's for review sir.

    Because you commented on A2A’s silence during the development process: That’s pretty much SOP for them.
    In the P3D abd FSX days (yes, they go back even further than P3D 😊), they often wouldn’t even announce what they were working on. E.g., with their Bonanza they just released preview pictures a few days before release, telling people “Oh yeah, this is what we’ve been working on for the last couple of years”

    Thank you very much, I enjoyed every minute of this 2 hour review!
    Just as a sidenote concerning the history of Shockwave/A2A:
    They did some coding in 2003 for the "Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator", until the publisher "Trisynergy" asked them to develop complete aircraft for the new FS9 (MS FS 2004). Around that time, they rebranded as "A2A Simulations", because of some irritation with the Online Gaming Service 'Shockwave'. They focused on warbirds at first, because they did the "Absolute Realism" add-on (predecessor to AccuSim) for the MS CFS before.
    So A2A didn't start developing for P3D, but for the Microsoft FS9 (the first version of 'AccuSim' came out 2008 for FSX and afterwards A2A began porting it over to P3D (P3D is based on the FSX and its core still is today).
    I know A2A from all the civilian AC, they did in FSX. My favorite then was the Piper Cherokee 180. Perhaps, because the Comanche is more intended to be a "cruising GA", the Cherokee is more the classic roundtrip type of aircraft, like for the weekend pilots getting a 100$-Burger e.g.. With the Comanche, you can really "travel" from A to B.
    After this release, proving that AccuSim works with MSFS, too, I'm looking forward to every plane they will release. That's for sure!
    I love the JustFlight Pipers, too. They surprised me with their really good quality ("study level"?) and the same goes for the C414 AW, my favorite MEP - BTW: There will be a Beechcraft Duke (piston and turbo version) coming to the MSFS. I'm excited to see these, because the Dukes from "RealAir" were my favorite MEP in FSX.
    I had to smile about your struggle to find negatives, but I totally agree with you, that it would be a great addition to adapt the wear factor (interior and exterior) to the general state of the aircraft. That would be a great enhancement.
    BTW.: May it be, that only 4 of 6 spark plugs were active in the video? It seemed to be every time you changed to the engine screen of the tablet, that only 4 cylinders randomly showed ignitions.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the info! I realised after I made this that A2A go a lot further back than I initially thought. I’m very much looking forward to anything new they bring out from now on, that’s for sure!
      Yes I noticed the spark plugs when I was practicing with the aircraft. Not sure if it’s a bug since the cylinders seem to be burning fuel just fine, or if there’s actually a miss on those pairs of cylinders at low RPM. More investigation is needed I think!

    Haha, the price? I bought it as soon as I heard about it, I'd have paid more than £100 for this as to me accusim is more valuable than msfs itself. Passionate and accurate, I had all the A2A planes for fsx. I uninstalled msfs a while back, just bought this, still waiting for msfs to download again. A2A are the only dev I trust implicitly. But let's make it clear, the JF Pipers don't even come close to this. Nothing does and it's logical because this beauty comes with AccuSim technology which calculates a million things outside of MSFS. That's why it feels so different, and it's probably the only aircraft in MSFS that actually makes you feel you're flying a real plane.

    Considering the price, it all depends on how much you would fly it. I bought it and so far it had cost me 2$ per hour... and counting - and counting down. Maybe the entry amount is huge but eventually, you have something that you will play with for a ling time without any additional costs, while the ones you have bought for half of the price are collecting dust in your hangar. Just a thought.

    Having bought a haptic seat cover a couple of months ago, and as with VR quickly gotten to the point where the immersion is completely broken flying without it, I was crestfallen when I found that the initial release didn't fully support simshaker - the ancilleries worked, but the engine vibration didn't due to its being handled by an external program.
    I never had any doubt that it would be fixed pretty quickly, a2a said as much in their forums but warned that it wasn't the top priority and probably wouldn't make the first update. I made a few flights to confirm that it's otherwise pretty much everything I'd been hoping for (it is 😁), but otherwise confined it to the hangar until happier days.
    To anybody else in the same position that doesn't yet know, I'm pleased to report that v1.1 has now dropped with full simshaker support... and my cup truly runneth over.
    It only remains for me to watch the video, probably with the occasional interlude to fly a few circuits. Thanks for taking the time out of your own flying to make and upload this catman, I can only imagine that it must've been particularly challenging this time.

I've been looking forward to your video about it almost as much as I was looking forward to the plane - and according to my screenshots I was downloading it 5 minutes after Scott posted that it was available, so I was looking forward to it a lot ! :)
    Did the Comanche you flew have the two fiel taps or one single one ? All the real world manuals I can find just talk about "the" fuel tap, and having to choose which tank you want to use. There has been much discussion of "feed from both tanks or one at a time" in the forums, the consensus seems to be that while it's possible to feed from both tanks it's not best practise.

      I don’t remember changing tanks at all in the one I flew so I’m presuming we had the dual taps fitted, but it’s such a long time ago I might be wrong. The A2A documentation says to burn from one side at a time so I presume that’s the correct method as per the PoH.

    Anyone notice that on the engine monitoring page in the tablet that sometimes not every cylinder is firing.
    Is that also the reason that when you're leaning the mixture you're looking for the cylinder(s) that's got the hottest exhaust gas because that means most of the fuel is being consumed per power stroke?

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That’s was a bug I think, I don’t notice that happening any more. And you look for the CHT of the hottest cylinder as there’s a safety imposed limit on the temperature, above which you can potentially get cylinder head/piston/valve damage. So you lean until you get close to that limit, then go back a bit for safety 👍🏻

    Great review of a great airplane model for FS2020. As of now, it's the best GA airplane for FS2020, not to say it's perfect for everyone. For instance, if I had to choose a personal pet peeve with the model, it would be the rather antiquated (if quite realistic) autopilot. The need for fiddling with trim to keep the autopilot happy at each airspeed change is a bit annoying IMO.
    The pop-up tablet already has an option (GPS) for modernizing the airplane. If it also offered the option for a more modern autopilot that could trim itself (like 99.9% of us use in real life and/or in flight simming), this would be the ultimate GA airplane for FS2020.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před 11 měsíci

      They’ve gone to an enormous amount of effort to model their specific aircraft, but like you say, an option for more modern avionics would be very helpful. Maybe it’ll come as an addon at a later date? Maybe as a Comanche 260 with the fuel injected engine? Either way I’m up for it! (The good thing is that it’s so nice to hand fly I barely ever use the autopilot!)

      To start with you’re best off getting to grips with the default/Working Title Garmin 530 I’d say. The instruction manual is available online with a bit of googling, so give that a read through - most of what you can do in the real thing is implemented in the sim.

      I can’t comment on that because I’ve not tried the older versions! A2A have said that their Accu-sim technology has been updated to version 2.0, so I’d presume that it’s a step forward from the older sims.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před 11 měsíci

      The Bravo is just set up for a default complex SEP, so nothing special on there. Just make sure you got axes set up for throttle, mixture and prop and make sure the gear and flap switches are set up. The Alpha is set up with completely straight sensitivity curves for this aircraft, I don’t find I need any adjustment in that regard. I’d recommend making a profile just for this plane with those settings saved.

    There is a discrepancy between your fuel management procedure and what is recommended in the A2A manual. You fly with both fuel valves open at all times while the manual recommends this on page 61 : "In order to keep the airplane in best lateral trim during cruising, the fuel should be used alternately from each tank." Since you've flown the Comanche in real life, which procedure is the correct one?

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I suspect that the A2A info is straight from the PoH, so I presume that’s correct method. As I said, it’s been over a decade since I last flew the Comanche so my memory for these things is hazy, but I don’t remember us alternating the tanks.

    • @Gilles45
      @Gilles45 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@FlyFromHome Not really important for the sim... I really love the Comanche and favour longer flights in the five hour range, like Rome to Amsterdam. The AP follows the flight plan quite nicely in LO TRACK mode, which minimizes snaking. You just have to give it time to do the turns whilst only banking 2-3 degrees!
