MUSEVENI faces Russian President Vladimir Putin, tells him STOP importing raw materials from Africa.

- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has this evening held bilateral talks
with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the
ongoing second Russia-Africa Summit in the Russian City of Saint
Petersburg.
During the meeting, President Museveni outlined areas of cooperation
with Russia that include oil exploration, nuclear power energy, fertilizers,
the Pathogenic economy, electric batteries, and Space science that
would enable Uganda to have its own dedicated satellite.
H.E Museveni also proposed to his host, President Putin to discourage
by policy the importing of raw materials from Africa but instead work with
the African governments to add value to products at source as this
would transform the economies of the continent in a very short time;
from low middle income to high middle-income status.
President Putin on his part said that Russia remains committed to
strengthening cooperation between Russia and Africa in economic,
political, security, trade and humanitarian areas.
He said that Uganda remains one of Russian key partner and ally on the
African continent with the diplomatic relationship that stretched over 60
years.
He added that due to the good relationship under cooperation trade
between the two countries has increased 5 time in the last 6 months
compared to last year. He said that the Russian government was to
double the education scholarships to the Ugandan students and up two
modern mobile laboratories that can diagnose many diseases including
epidemic ones.
President Putin further said that he was happy that Uganda and Russia
have close positions on the international arena that he said is based on
commitment to shaping a just world that is accommodative to everyone
and expressed happiness that Uganda was to chair the non-allied
movement.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Jeje Odong,
Defense Minister Bamulangaki Sempijja and Health Minister Jane Ruth
Aceng among others.
Meanwhile, the two-day Russia-Africa Summit that kicked off today is
the highest-profile and largest-scale event in Russian African relations,
aimed at bringing about a fundamentally new level of mutually beneficial
partnership to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The goal of the event is to promote efforts to strengthen comprehensive
and equal cooperation between Russia and African nations across all
areas of society including politics, security, economic relations, science
and technology, and the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
At the US-African summit last year, African leaders were only given 5 minutes each to speak. African leaders said they were only summoned to the US to have their pictures taken with Biden. If the US wants to know why they are losing Africa, they only need to look at this Russia-Africa summit. How respectful President Putin is to African leaders and how constructive talks are taking place for Russia and Africa to work together as equals.
Putin is the answer for Africa - free grain, oil, and helicopters - and no questions asked.

How is russia going to help Africa? The only thing they can export is oil, gas (and they use it for their own gain) and weapons of which we already know they aren't worth that much. Let me tell you why you think that russia will help you - cause you have never actually been dealing with them and you have no clue on how they oparate and why they do it the way they do.
The only reason putin is doing business with Africa (and it's not all Africa by the way, just some countries) is because he has nowhere else to go, half of the world (including a lot of African countries!) is against him and his regime. Very misleading title....not once did he tell Putin to STOP importing raw materials....he merely asked to continue with adding value to the products...and then went on to express his gratitude for all of the ongoing projects...
Indirectly, he did. He invited Russia to INVEST in the raw materials/crude oil business that automatically means Russia can do its own exploration (which I am sure will not resemble Western businesses that take ALL of the profits back to the West leaving nothing for the locals)
Possibly asked that Russia invest the production to happen in the local African country where mining is done. This way help that country get its share from it.

That is a concept Putin and Xi advocate and why these countries are investing in infrastructure and why they are getting universities, high speed rail, water systems, communications infrastructure, hydro electric and nuclear power plants, ports, and air ports built. Russia gives a large number of full scholarships to promising students. Here in St Petersburg for example, there are many African students studying here and they are well regarded. The locals have nothing but positive impressions of the Africans they meet. In my own native country or in UK, they are treated as second class and are discriminated against. A high percentage of Africa's future leaders are studying in Russia now.

Really weird choice of words for the video title..
He didn't demand to stop exporting but rather asked if Russia would be interested into investing in Africa to develop their economy, Africa also want to benefit from Russia in medicine, space, nuclear energy, satellites.
And Russia is offering all of this to other countries, especially nuclear reactors, Rosatom basically takes everything on their shoulders to build the reactors, make them going, provide the maintenance eg; removal of old nuclear fuel and disposing it on Russian territory (so buyer doesn't have to create a place for nuclear waste, even Russia doesn't, they're so far the only country that can enrich used uranium and put it back into reactors)
Russia and France have those nuclear plants in operation. USA has the capability and had at least one reactor doing it, but then they stopped.
