Thanks as always for watching and I hope you enjoy watching how I make these ink dip pottery pens.

I made a presentation about you in my college, everyone liked the ink dip pens! My partners said that you helped them a lot to understand pottery
One day I'll put my hand around one of these beauties. I am really curious about how they feel in hand, their weight balance and such compared with the wooden holders I have. I saw you made very few hexagonal holders, I bet they look stunning once glazed too.
Aha you spotted them! They worked well, I glazed them with a tenmoku so they're entirely black but on the edges they break to a red hue. The funny thing is though, as these are thrown items, the spiral imparted into them as they're made unwinds during the firing, meaning that the hexagonal facets twist. So they're no longer straight.. I should have included a section about those in the video but I'm waiting to make matching inkwells for them. You've got a keen eye!
@@floriangadsby They caught my eyes 👀. I am sure that spiralling is a feature rather than something seen as a fault, a happy mistake that Bob Ross would say.
A friend of mine gave me a tactical pen one time. It was wonderful but it was weighted to heavy in the back. I write in a molluskina, very old school style, and the tactical pen was just a bit much in the back end. I really like teakwood pens. They're very light and versatile, and you can let the hardware do the weighing down in the back end...
hexagons are the bestagons
They feel just write.
I cannot imagine a more wonderful gift either to give or to receive than a set of a lovingly handmade pen and inkwell.
That is something I agree wholeheartedly with.
I’m astonished and grateful that you took so much time to create this video. Your voice, the visuals, your artistry, I could watch for hours.
I could literally watch your content for hours. I had a ceramics class last trimester, and now that the tri is over and I no longer have that class, all I can think of is working with clay.
I absolutely love my pen and is one of my prized possessions. I have been waiting for this video to see how they were made. Thank you for your beautiful work!
This is impossible to make, however you make it looks so simple.
The point you made about clay having a memory is a difficult lesson I guess every potter learns through experience, I learnt mine recently 🙂
Your descriptions are so poetic, not only is visually beautiful but auditorily as well. I’m a new beginner to throwing and i learn so much from your videos :) thank you
Ever since I saw these pens on your shop months ago I was patiently waiting for a video about them. Such a fascinating process, thank you!
18:58 The forbidden hotdogs…
It's a good job your kiln shelves aren't as warped as ours.
If I fired one of those it would be like a banana pen.😉
Happy throwing 👍
Shut up ingleton, not everything is about you.
@@ATLTraveler You are a very strange individual.
Keep vaping and playing video games.
🤪🚑♿🤮
@@IngletonPottery I will boomer boy
@@IngletonPottery I would like a banana 🍌 pen 🖋️ lol 😅 wonder how it would write 🤔✍🏼📝
@@ATLTraveler imagine trying to start shit on a pottery video and losing lmao.
This entire video I was thinking how perfectly superfluous every single aspect of these pens are, and of course now my life won't be complete until I have one. It's just so beautiful.
omg I've been waiting for this for so long!
I hope you like the film! :)
What a calming way to start my Sunday. Thank you Florian!
Pleased to hear so, thanks for watching, Ruby!
This video is very stressful and very soothing at the same time!
It's really amazing to see the craftmanship behind all your wares.
What a beautiful present for someone. I particularly like the rest for the pen. Being old enough to remember having to use a cartridge pen at school this innovation would have saved many things from ink stains! Myself included!
I love the look of them. The final product is simply stunning.
Exquisite writing or drawing tools! I wondered what those were when I spotted some as you unloaded the gas kiln in another video. With the ink well & rest they make quite an unusual set. Perfect for gifts or for spoiling oneself! Thanks!
Gorgeous immaculate work! I have certain artists that always out me in the mood/inspire me to paint, I’ve now found my artist who gets me fired up to throw/make ceramics! ✨😊
Your voice is so relaxing, I love watching these to wind down. Very informative, I feel like I understand pottery a little more with every video!
I am dumbfounded at how easy you make this look. You've definitely been doing this for quite some time. Your skill is amazing. Thank you for showing us your technique in making these pens. It's an amazing process to watch.
These pens are beautiful, something to be treasured
This is crazy. I cant imagine the patience you need for that!
Definitely want one of these. I've turned many pens in wood and have always wanted to try ceramic. Beautiful work
Was eagerly waiting for this video. I really appreciate your patience level and intricacies in your work. Best wishes.

Brilliant Florian!
I think I've been waiting for thisss!!!!!!!!
Those are beautiful, I enjoyed every minute of it :)
I would love to have one of these so much, not for calligraphy, but for ink drawing.
This is really smart amazing idea! Bravo
oh I would've love to see those incredibly made pens in action ♥ great work
Oh....just WONDERFULL!!!!!!!!!
As a really novice potter I watch your videos avidly and they"ve taught me so much. I am going through all the videos.
Last night I watched the making of the ink pen .Bearing in mind the ignorance of a novice, I was wondering why the pen shaft is skillfully thrown when the clay could just be rolled into a 'sausage' shape and cut of at the desired length. Please don't think this is a stupid question. I really want to know. Thanks.
Sometimes I quite enjoy doing things the hard way.
The tedium of hollowing them out...i could not do that XD They're turn out so beautiful too.
ure a real artist. congrats super vid
I'm looking forward to the day that you make more of these, because I'd like to buy one.
Utterly gorgeous. 5 stars. ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
Incredible work ❤WOWA Awesomeness
wow, I love it, so beautiful
Marvelous!!!
You are amazing. Thank you Flo
Amazing!
This is talent👏
So clever ❤
Could you make a video about throwing very tall, narrow cylinders? It's one thing I have been struggling with.
This is just beautiful, i really love pottery, but i don't have any experience i don't even know how to start
I love to do pen and ink work. I will be getting one of your dip pens.
Excellent work and video God bless
I only just now found this, and oh how I wish to make such delicate things
Wow!!! It is one of the beautiful pens and what a lovely process to get that on to that Ink well!!
First time ever I saw this marvellous work.!!!! I want one to keep with my other penS !!! ;-)
I love it!
Very very nice, I have a few old dip pens all packed away at this time since my last move one day I will unpack them again to use special as we now have so many new ink colours to use for them. Now I’m off to what how you made the pots 🤗thank you for sharing 🤗
Amazing..😍❤️✨
Hey Florian, the edge you remove at the last stage of trimming feels like it would be a nice design feature to make the pens go along with the rest of your work, instead of being so round in shape. Have you ever considered keeping any forme of an edge there?
Thanks for another great video!
I’ve made some like that, and you’ll actually see one like it in the video around halfway through when I put the metal ferrule in a leather hard pen. The problem is the edge is at the base of the pen, so the glaze floods down it and sort of overhangs on the edge rather than breaking over it. If it were possible to fire the pens upside-down then the edge would break through the glaze in a way that’s more characteristic with the rest of my work. If that makes sense. Thanks so much for watching!
So good
Loving the new thumbnail style!
Ever trying to find something that works. I try not to fret over them for too long but often I have some photographs somewhere that suit the video better. Glad you like it!
Very good video😍
40 minute video LETS GOOO
Impressive!
Brilliant! Skilled craftsmanship at it's finest 👏
Wow amazing
There's a certain phallic aesthetic throughout your videos. The 13y/o in me giggles every time.
Lovely.
Love Ur work....
👍👍
I wonder if you could do something with Rajiv Surendra for these pens? He's a calligrapher but also has some pottery training as well, so not only would you get that sexy footage of the pen being used, you'd also be able to talk through some aspects of what would make the best possible calligraphy pen with someone who understands what you do.
Beautiful.....👍👍
mad skills
Nice pens 😍
The best person to test your fountain pen is clearly Peter Draws!
Ceramic Ink Dip Pen is first time!!
But Beautiful...
You are art.
Damn, ...respect🙌👏
I want one of these so bad. I guess I will have to try for one in your best open shop.
What a magical voice
I’d love a set of them jus beautiful
Hi! I learn so much from every video you make, all the tiny (but important) details! Love it, thanks for that.
I do have a question, have you found someone who has made a 'review' video about the pens? I'd love to see them in action.
WHAT? I have never seen this before, you are a genius,so cleaver,I would have not thought you could do it like that,I would have rolled them on a wooden board,This is bonkers
This is the first time I have seen this myself and am very impressed.
I really love these amazing work of art.just wondering how could own one😻
Hell yeah let's go
