Kingdom hearts was a no brainer, hell, Kingdom hearts is a far better representation of Disney's 100 than wish ever was.
Kingdom Hearts has some of the worst writing I've ever seen in a video game, with its ridiculous complexity, cringe dialogue, fanfiction-like OCs and retcons. It's not the "no brainer" the way you think it is... I honestly think Walt would not have liked KH, except for maybe the first game. There's too much that's quite un-Disney about the series, and thus should not be representative for the 100th anniversary.
And beating Wish isn't an accomplishment.
I think the first two Kingdom Hearts games were genius. They were a celebration of the Disney Renaissance and I wouldn't be suprised if people got interested in some of these movie that were promoted.

I have loved Kingdom Hearts since the original, but I don't trust Igercorp. The info that hit about Square Enix today makes this even more concerning. I just hope they don't decide to destroy a great game series (or 2) by doing this.
I’m sorry to say but if Disney is on the wheel for ANYTHING related to Square Enix and especially Kingdom Hearts, this will not be a Simple and Clean ride.
Nope, nope nope - all they'll do is claim Sora is trans or something and ruin some of my best memories...again. I've only played the first one but I invested a great deal of stress from work in that game...

Square Enix devs wouldn't work with Disney again. Disney hard f*ed them over in the frozen level in KH3. In development, Square was given the character design and basic story of frozen... before "let it go" rewrote the script. It led to a broken and confusing level because the team had finished the level. Disney then was given the final review and threw a fit. No one had bothered to tell KH3 devs that Elsa was no longer the villain in Frozen. The ice palace dungeon filled with traps and heartless(enemies) was downgraded and lost all storyline that took place in it. The Ice dungeon is now created by a lightning wielder instead of Elsa. Hanz also somehow becomes a giant ice wolf heartless boss if I remember correctly.
There is no way Disney would allow a Kingdom Hearts adaptation to be made without destroying it with their DEI crap; frankly I'm surprised the games have come out pretty unscathed in that regard thus far. I fear for KH4 like you wouldn't believe...
Ah, yes- Sora and his new allies: Rey Star Wars, Captain Marvel, Asha Wish, and flame girl and toothpaste blob water man!
Disney hard pissed off Square Enix when making Kingdom Hearts 3. They were so controlling that the frozen level was totally wrecked, and the developers were refusing to continue working with Disney corp.
@@deadlyishtar The results of that was minimal Frozen plot in the KH3 world, and honestly I see that as an absolute win. Tremendously overrated movie. Though I can see where Disney's meddling can be a big problem in the future, hence my worrying...
My kids love the Kingdom Hearts games, but they are severely allergic to DEI and wokeness. So it will be a wait and see.
I'm in the same boat as them.
I was there when the Kingdom Hearts animated series pilot was freed from the depths of lost media before being taken down, and it honestly seems like a great template for what a good KH animated show could look like. Play up what makes the Disney characters work (ex: have Goofy lean into his parental side from the 90s so Sora has a strong male mentor in his life and Donald into his more adventurous side because it could allow for a return to the DuckTales extended universe), streamline the lore and overall story, and hire non-DEI loyalist writers who GET KH lore and what makes these Disney characters work. Also, get Mercury Filmworks to do the animation- lean a bit more towards the Tangled show.
That all sounds like a disaster in the making, I'm sorry.
Kingdom Hearts, to me, is probably the only property (that isn't Bluey) Disney didn’t push its ESG and DEI practices right now. It better stay that way and hope they don't interfere with the developers' work in Japan.
Of you asked me 20 years ago i would have been excited for it.
Now i think it would be the perrect way for disney to degrade and/or kill the full catolouge of charcters they have left
As a kh fan it truly is one of our particular pastimes to watch people struggle their way through the lore LOL

Disney will come to regret injecting woke into kingdom hearts. Square enix would be wise to put an end to this project.
It really depends on how & where they would start this idea. Would they start with KH1? Most likely yes because it's the easiest to follow & people know who Sora & his trio are compared to the other characters. However, they could start with the mobile games or Birth By Sleep; which are set years before the 1st game.
Regardless, KH is literally the only franchise left that Disney hasn't ruined yet, but if they handle it right. It could be their next golden goose.
The story was simple in the beginning, but became more and more complicated and confusing at times with different games coming out in trying to build lore. There's potential for a great movie, but I don't know if you can trust current Disney to pull it off. Also, how much influence and involvement will Square Enix have?
umm yeah you know I'm all for a Kingdom Hearts project but the only problem is apart from the absolute horror of putting in DEI/ESG agendas there's also the issue of trying to make sense out of the Kingdom Hearts storyline because the original video games are friggin' convoluted like crazy and unfortunately it might turn off a lot of casual fans
if they can somehow make it comprehendible, clear-cut and straightforward and avoid DEI and ESG as much as possible then I'll support it
The games are not as completely beyond comprehension as people often make them out to be. But the ways the information is given out definitely needs some streamlining.

This is Iger-Disney, they have no idea how to make a comprehensible story, let alone one without DEI
If Tetsuya Nomura is not involved in any capacity with this project, then it's already dead on arrival. As the creator of the series, he knows better than anyone, and a Kingdom Hearts adaptation's best chance is if it's made by a Japanese anime studio.
Getting rid of Nomura would actually be a boon to the series
With the amount of input he insisted on having just for Sora’s Smash Bros appearance, I think you can count on his being elbows-deep in any film project based on the franchise. Subsequently, we should be able to look forward to it coming out about a year too late for the Kingdom Hearts 50th Anniversary.
The Kingdom Hearts story is so convoluted that I gave up on it and just played the games for the different worlds. I loved playing 1,2, and 3; but I couldn’t tell you what they were about in the slightest.
It’s similar to Star Wars prequel films and main trilogy. They released it out of story order.
Kingdom Hearts in the parks is an obvious way for Disney to respond to what Universal has been doing with Nintendo. Disney could probably score a big win if they inked a licensing agreement with Square to use Final Fantasy too. Producing a show or movie using Kingdom Hearts is a no-brainer if they stick closely to the original source material, story, and characters. Doing so would be a way to demonstrate that change Iger has been boasting about recently.
You're really overestimating KH's value. It doesn't help that the writing is total garbage, and that's not gonna translate to a show or movie well.
@@OhSayWhatIsTruth You may be right. I haven't personally played the KH games. However, everyone I know who has played loves the franchise and remembers several of the games fondly. They have lasting positive vibes.

I must have missed the explanation on how Sora can summon attraction vehicles or why he’s talking photos like in a Dead Rising game because those are a couple of things that left me puzzled about the 3rd game
They Better get TMS to Animate The Show Just like what they used to do in the 80s with the Wuzzles and Duck Tales
TMS would be a good choice, but I could see them getting either the studio that did the World Ends With You anime or even more fitting, A-1 Pictures. Only reason why I'd say A-1 is because they've done a lot ofaction, fantasy animes with sword fighting or magic. Sword Art Online, Solo Leveling, the Nier anime, some of the Persona adaptations, etc.
Disney tried creating a Kingdom Hearts tv show a while ago. I can't remember why it didn't go anywhere. This could just be Iger being desperate and dusting this shelved project off and hoping it brings people to Disney+
Even hough I would like a more epic Kairi, I don't want her adjusted to the point of suiting a flawed narrative, especially if her personality and/or appearance takes a hit. Also, I wouldn't want her necessarily taking over Sora's role either.
I am fine with an adaptation. However. They need to streamline and less complicate the story.

Is it time?! Please! I have been waiting for a tv show since the rumors started after the release of the first game. I’m actually begging.
As for the lore. It’s not that hard to understand. There’s just a lot of it.
In regards to the games. There are no ‘spin offs’ you need all of them to understand. If you go from 1 to 2 you’ve already missed lore.
If you go from 2 to 3 you’ve missed half the story.
I got off track, but I doubt Square and the KH creator will let Disney butcher KH.

@@OhSayWhatIsTruth I stand by it. Overall, if you take it slow-ish (not like year gaps in between) than it’s easy to understand. There is just A LOT. And thinking you can only play KH 1,2 and 3 and understand everything… well you’ll be in for a surprise.
That being said. I’m probably not. I know I’m an outlier in the fandom. Most people agree that the lore is confusing
I love Kingdom Hearts one of my all time favorite game franchises! I haven't beaten all of them but I have certainly played every entry lol
So three is a lot to cover here. There are too many game to even summarize the lore, and even the version of the compilations don't do well explaining it. Ansem from the first game is not Ansem, but his apprentice. The princesses were not the heart of the worlds, they were key to the plot in the first game. Each world has its own heart and Sora seals it with the key blade to keep the Heartless out. In terms of Final Fantasy characters, only a handful made it in to one and two, with Sephiroth being the only villain that showed up. Outside of Chain of Memories, I have not played them because they are hard to get, and the recaps on the compilations are slog to get through, so I have no idea if more Final Fantasy character make an appearance. In the third one, outside of the starting cut scene they are a no show.
If I was Square I would steer away from anything Disney. Don't forget they developed the Marvels live service game for them, so I would not be surprised if Square would be skittish about making anything with Disney.

Honestly, with CringeBob Wokepants still in charge, i'd rather hope they leave this franchise alone. As much as it is cool to imagine a Kingdom Hearts tv series, the simple Idea of this regime tackling it give me a shiver down my spine, and I'm a huge KH fan, i would love to possibly get an adaptation, but not with DangIitBob and his DEI crap still on the helm of the company. Especially considering that
1) Iger forced Nomura to make last minute changes to KH3 such as:
reducing Jack Sparrow's role in the Pirates of Caribbean to big degree beacuse of the Jonny Depp/Amber Heard situation;
Completely rewrite the story of the Frozen world just so the could include the Let It Go song in the game and make the general plot of the world as close as possible to the one seen in the movie.
&2) The Iger administration has been notoriously bad when it comes to handle the Gaming market, particularly after Iger colse their in house gaming studio "Disney Interactive Studios" and only very recently getting an agreement with Epic Games for a possible Blue sky Disney themed Fortnite mode.
So ultimately, i would rather for this rumor to STAY a rumor, thank you very much, since with the current regime i'm afraid this supposed Kingdom Hearts adatation will most likely going to SUCK, which is a shame considering this is my all time favorite videogame franchise.

I've not heard a lot of good things concerning the third outing of Kingdom Hearts. The first two were highly praised though. As for making this into a TV series, definitely not a movie, Wokeisney will just screw it up.

Not a huge fan of KH, a lot of the fans are pretty obnoxious from my personal experience and the story is convoluted as all hell, but if the Bob Iger Company want to involve themselves with it then it's doomed.
