    You could tell injector #1 was stuck open, because when you removed the injectors, fuel was leaking out of it. This wont happen, unless the injector is open.

    Try to disconnect the injectors/fuel pump before doing a comp test as the raw fuel help seal the rings and artificially inflate a cylinder's PSI.

      Same has been happening to my C7. Ive replaced plugs, coils, ait, maf, map, boost solenoid, 02 sensors, pcv & air filter. These all seemed to help the car but I also believe I have bad fuel injectors and need a carbon cleaning now that the car has over 120k miles. I did BG44k topend fuel cleaner which did help but I think its time the intake manifold come off and walnut blast valves.

    My 2012 A4 2.0 had a misfire. The motor was emitting a knocking noise from the front of the motor. Mechanic replaced the rocker arms and lifters. Knocking sound still there. After scoping, was determined cylinder #1 is scored, requiring replacement of the motor. Rings, pistons and timing chain replaced at 57K. Engine failure at 67k. New long block installed, issue addressed.

    Yeah you're right about ecs tuning some of their own stuff is not quality. That fitting for the boost gauge or controller was causing a vacuum leak. Sorry if this isn't the best place to ask for help lol, but I'm at my wits end, I've been troubleshooting, fixing and finicking with her for months now. I have a 2013 e93 with the n55. Randomly one day a while back she started having a random misfire in just cylinder 6 with no real reason as to why, and a rough idle, I've replaced the spark plugs with 2 step colder, the ignition coils are brand new and that seemed to help a lot, ran injector cleaner through her a couple times, and New MAF, I am in a pretty serious club so she gets her spirited driving in almost every week, and tats what through me off, the misfire is totally random. And only ever at higher rpm at higher gears, I have a manual so I can confidently say now it only happens sometimes above 4 rpm in 5th or 6th gear and almost always pops up if I'm going up a hill, I'm running jb4 and have never seen any codes to point me in a direction which is also wierd to me, catless dp's, and bms intake are the only major engine mods I've got in her, the rough idle I'm fine with, I can live with that, but I've been chasing this misfire so long I'm resorting to commenting on CZcams, please someone help lol

      There are some youtubers like BMW Doctor that do paid consultation, much cheaper than going to a US mechanic. I'd really suggest going for something like that, just do the usual like smoke test for vacuum leaks, look inside and compression test cylinder 6. Also do what Chaminda said.

  • @andyb6851

  • @fastboatster
    @fastboatster Před 3 lety +8

    Another note on how easy it is to work on b8 Audis is that on 2010+ you’ll officially have to disconnect the ac lines to replace the coolant radiator or grind of some tabs on the radiator. Also, if you haven’t noticed, there’s no valve cover in a BMW sense of this word. It’s an integrated valve cover/cam girdle, if it starts leaking, then you’ll have to mess with locking the camshaft. While easy for a seasoned mechanic, a lot more intimidating for an average diyer. I could go on, but I wouldn’t get so excited about this cars so quickly.

    • @NathansBMWWorkshop
      @NathansBMWWorkshop  Před 3 lety +2

      lol these are not hard jobs, remember all the past cars i had and past videos, not much scares me anymore

    • @fastboatster
      @fastboatster Před 3 lety +5

      @@NathansBMWWorkshop yes, but the point is that it WILL be intimidating for a more novice person. I mean, it’s cool but getting some brackets holding some rubber air guides in the way of ac lines so that you can’t pull the evaporator out of the brackets on the radiator without disconnecting the lines is not stupid. It’s actually very smart and malicious, and that’s kind of quintessential VW group. 2009 - lines allow to unclip it, but 2010 the manual says “ac lines have been improved”, need to disconnect to replace the radiator. And it’s not just the labor, parts such as control arms, engine mounts are quite a lot more expensive. No, it’s just not the same as my e90 where I was able to pull the radiator out on the side of the street without jacking the car up or replace the belt in 15 mins doing it first time ever and in the parts store parking lot. Another thing is that they have timing chain issues and oil consumption, and all this is just too much to bother for a car which is not better driving and engaging as an rwd e90

    • @Tweakin

      @@fastboatsterI’m fairly novice.. oil change here, brake job there. This legitimately looks as simple as it gets tbh especially considering

    • @fastboatster
      @fastboatster Před rokem

      @@Tweakin yeah, so is oil change on many bmws or brake jobs. Speaking of the brake jobs, b8s already have an electric parking brake, need a diag tool or need to apply some voltage to the parking brake motor to replace the rear pads without breaking anything. 3 series up to g series still have normal parking brake. Bottom line, own and drive the car you like but be aware that Audi is not really easier than BMW

    With the injectors plugged in electrically and fuel line connected and the manifold pulled back as you had it, it would have been informative to see what happened when you turned the key to ON. @@NathansBMWWorkshop yeah, I guess we can argue for a long time about this and not come to any agreement. But I just want to say that having both one b8 chassis car (s4) and one e90 328i and talking/reading the forums for either platforms, I’m not so hot on the b8 platform anymore. B8 came in in 2007 in Europe so really similar timeframe to e90, and while Bmw gave us pretty much the last of its kind NA I-6, VW/Audi came with 2.0t econobox engine. And for the turbos, n54 is a class or 2 above 2.0t and really compares to 3.0tfsi in a much more expensive and also somewhat troublesome b8 s4. Anyways, the conclusion is that it’s great to have different cars on the channel and perhaps it takes time to really gauge what the car really is.
