I first watched this video the year it was posted. I was 13 and _obsessed_ with violin, but couldn't play. Because of this version (specifically Mari because omg I instantly loved her) I started violin lessons, passed my grade 4 with distinction in less than a year (💁♀️), and loved every second of it until my teacher, Mrs Fawcett, sadly died of Leukaemia. I stopped playing and couldn't afford lessons after that, but this performance now reminds me of her and still fills me with that same level of inspiration that it did when I was 13. 💖🧡💛
You should persist with your violin lessons; it would work as a homage for your deceased teacher.

the something is years and years of practice, i play a harmonica because it is basic👓. She is also incredbly talented and dedicated🩰
I love her version so much because, to me, it symbolizes winter. Winter is cold and unforgiving, it comes like a storm and lays waste to vegetation (allegro non molto), after the storm is settled it becomes beautiful in it's calm (largo) and, well set in winter, there is scarcity and it is a battle against attrition (allegro) I believe she and the composition reflected that marvelously and that's why Mari is my favourite.

The Italian composer Vivaldi was a piece of work in the best sense of the word. He was a Catholic priest who had red hair and dressed in red which is why he was called the red priest. I think this why violinists sometimes dress in red while performing Vivaldi-to honor him. Sometimes when he was saying mass he would get a musical idea and just leave for 20 minutes to write it down and then come back and finish the mass. He also had an all girl orchestra. Quite a character.

I am amazed how someone can play violin which has no frets so precisely and fast. The performer looked like she was in a trance communicating with a spirit or just savouring the music.
Literally every slightly advanced violin student can play with intonation without having frets. If you need frets then I suggest a bit of classical training to give yourself some basic skills in playing.

@@jordigutierrez4161 Obviously anyone who's studied it for years is going to be able to play reasonably well. I think the point is that if you come from a non-string background (or even from a guitar background), placing the notes on a string instrument seems like a steep learning curve absent any obvious visual reference points.
You know the crucial part missing in this performance, right? The guy behind her in the Summer video. This doesn't sound right without him.

This is not the most perfect performance of this ever heard - but I'll argue it's one of the most passionate. I am so swept away by it every time I listen to it. Easily my favourite. I'd love to hear this live.

@@codebrown69 No performance is the most perfect, since that can refer to multiple things. Is it the most accurate representation of the original? Is it the most pleasant to hear? Is it a flawless performance? That's why, as far as i'm familiar with classic music, there's no such thing as one being better than the other. Every musician adds his little touch to the performance.

Her version is more dynamic, intense and organic, it's the best performance in my opinion.
Cailus ...you are so right ...intense...organic....dynamic...all. I have watched it more than a dozen times and each section is just loaded with nuance and strength and subtle personal to the note where and what it means to the whole and in relation to its position...I really enjoy the other strings keeping a close eye on her, and holding on to a run away horse...exciting for them.

Vivaldi’s piece is exquisite!
Literally I have listened to mari play Vivaldi hundreds of times. Always being uplifted and inspired every time. Mari is unique in expressing Vivaldi in my view. A genius in her own right and yet being genius is not of concern, this is why such is her brilliance of shining. Focused and humble is another view. This coupled with max Richter's abilities as to add colour and a richness like few others certainly creates an emotional adventure unique for each individual.
That violin is screaming in pain from the Mari's intensity. Violin: "I'll make any sound you want, just don't hurt me, okay?"

One of the better interpretations I've heard. The second movement was especially warm. Each concerto pretty much a master work but the opening theme of the La " Primavera " I still think is the most recognized and beloved. Makes me want to get through winter and welcome spring.

Сколько лет уже слушаю именно это исполнение. Нет, ничего подобного больше нигде нет. Остальные музыканты как будто глухи и играют пластмассово, плоско.
Prvi taktovi te pozivaju na buđenje i donose najavu strašnih vremena, nakon toga te uspješno uvedu u ljepotu koju zima donosi, ne odvlačeći te od stvarnosti.. Mari Samuelson i ovaj orkestar su uspeli da na neobjašnjiv način ovo prelijepo djelo donesu u centar mog interesovanja i da sigurno povećaju moje divljenje prema klasičnoj muzici.
