Growing up I played violin and everyone in my local classical fans/music community thought I was nuts for being a Vivaldi fan- I thought they were nuts for NOT being Vivaldi fans. How can you not love this!?

Same here. I cannot imagine not imagine loving Vivaldi's music!
The painting is The Visitation by Mariotto Albertinelli, Italian Renaissance painter. Elizabeth cousin to the Virgin Mary is visiting her. They are both pregnant. Its a beautiful paining, as is the music. Thank you.

Wait seriously?

Very befitting of the music as John the Baptist and Jesus met for the first time.
It seems as though the artist was catching the first moment JtB recognized Jesus and leapt in her womb.

Glad you like Fr. Vivaldi’s music we are very proud of him. He composed mostly for small groups, he and all those he served were very poor.
Vivaldi really is one of those great underrated composers. Of course his Four Seasons are some of the most famous pieces in music history, but what about his 500-so other works? They're all absolute masterpieces, even the short ones. Their extreme technicality really put Vivaldi ahead of his time, even in his earliest works like the Trio Sonatas, Op. 1. But also, can we just mention Vivaldi's amazing operatic output? In total he wrote 52 operas, many of which are still performed today. I mean, it's a well known fact (at least in the world of music) that Vivaldi was an extremely prolific composer of concertos and sonatas, but what about his truly magnificent religious works? Like masses, and Latin Liturgical texts? They really are amazing, and I think that more people should give them a go. The great Johann Sebastian Bach was extremely religious, and composed an absolutely insane amount of cantatas, masses and other works for the church, but none of them have the same style as Vivaldi. In my personal opinion, I think that Vivaldi created a style of his own, and more people should give his other lesser-known compositions a listen.
Not to mention that the aforementioned Bach also considered Vivaldi a genius, one of his favourite composers. I feel as though, deserving though he is on his own merit, we actually owe some of what we admire in Bach to Vivaldi, who possibly was a strong influence on the Young 'Old' Bach.
@@Acorparation Even this concerto for 2 violins was admired by Bach who arranged it also for organ but ironically that Bach´s organ piece is better known than its original version of Vivaldi.
Vivaldi is a composer, Bach is an instructor.
Some of Bach’s violin concertos sound very similar to this. He was a HUGE fan of Vivaldi. And married his Italian style with the perfect mathematical genius of his own school. Imo nobody can touch Bach, but Vivaldi is phenomenal no doubt.
@@fellow7091
BWV 596, a transcription done by bach of vavaldi's RV565, is also more popular than the original piece done by vivaldi, to the point of people mistaking it for an original piece written by bach himself. Bach's transcription is very well done and the RV565 itself is quite suitable for an organ transcription, however it's not even close to vivaldi's concerto.
3:17 everytime I get to this point I get sad and think, " is it over already?" And then I remember it's a concerto and nine minutes long, and I get happy again. ☺️

Takes me back... Way freaking back... But suddenly I am 16 again and in my bedroom of my mother's house practicing for my orchestra concert... What good memories
I played second violin of that concerto on my graduation exam. I'm 56 now and I have never played violin since then but I believe my fingers remember everything. I bought "Amazon grade" violin few years ago and tried to play... It took me years to build skills and now my fingers couldn't even move fast enough to play basics.
When I listen to this concerto I close my eyes and pretend I play it...
I'm sure you'll get there again. It's never too late for music!
All the depression and anxiety drop down in an instant. Many thanks, Vivaldi.
But this music is also somehow so sad... I listened to Reitze Smits' organ performance of Bach's transcription (BWV593) of this, and it was so amazing that I cried.

This music is directly touching the soul. It can purify one human being. So heavenly.
Vivaldi truly is my favorite composer. The way he intertwined melodies is amazing
introduced the musical writing instruments that allowed to the opera to survive until today, has brought the music out of the palaces of the powerful (he was a priest, played in churches for all), he has challenged the conventional wisdom that the "not popular music" was only for the elite. It do not used the drama as primacy. He has composed fantastic things even for commonly considered "poor" instruments like the mandolin or the little flute. He composed for all.
And the remarkable thing was that he worked under tremendous pressure to produce new works - yet he managed (as did his colleague J S Bach, often under similar pressure) to produce work of such brilliance.
Billy Tragyu He is my favorite composer too! I adore baroque music!😀
Though not as well as Bach!

I think he was not using his mind to compose it, but his soul. Such creation can't be the product of a mental work only. No doubt.

Yes many scholars deem Andrea Amati as a “violin enhancements figure” but not an inventor of the violin also Do you know anything about music history? Because if you do then you will realize it’s a human collaborative achievement and btw Muslims actually built the first Music School / Academy in History which it was in Andalusia “Modern day Spain “ so basically they brought Classical music to Europe 🌚💢
That being said of course I’m not trying to minimize the Great European musical achievements afterward! nor trying to minimize any other culture or land .. I’m not here to spread racism or any negativity I’m just trying to share some light upon some human collaborations examples .
Also if you’re really interested in Renaissance era of Europe then you should be thankful for Muslim / Arabs / Persian and other oriental scholars for they actually helped saving the core of Greek civilization which most likely without them saving these Greeks works Europe would remarkably different now!
Not to mention the dozens of Arabic books and works which been copied by some Renaissance icons
Just go look up “The divine comedy origins or even some Shakespeare’s (Romeo Juliet & Arabic poetry etc long list even Da Vinci himself was studying Arabic Mathematics.. you right now using Arabic numbers instead of primitive European Roman numerals ..
So please let’s not be arguing for the sake of arguing.
