  • **Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

    I just tuned into you, and also just moved to North Carolina from the Sacramento area for the very reasons you described after mostly living in CA since 1976.
    Folks love their chalk painted furniture here. This is a gorgeous piece.

    You waxed before the glaze? Thanks for the chat about CA. I appreciate your honesty and cander. I live in FL and have never been to CA but from what I'm hearing and seeing, it's a tragedy, what's going on there.

    I’m glazing a piece now.. why is your glaze so dark? Mine is going on blue which I know it dries black but it’s very hard to see the effect as I’m glazing a blue piece 🤷‍♀️

    Would it be easier to use a dark glaze to age the edges than a dark wax? I just can't get the hang of wax. Thanks.

    • @maxwellstudio19
      @maxwellstudio19 Před 6 lety +2

      wyzski try putting a clear wax first before you do the dark wax. You won’t “stain” your piece with the dark. Wax seals the piece glaze highlights a piece so if you use glaze make sure you seal it with something else. 😊

    Brandy ..I have a question: I'm retired on a budget BUT i have paint that is water based...in eggshell, semigloss can I use these to blend paint with water until I can make an order with Dixie Bell?

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 4 lety

      Eggshell and semi gloss are usually descriptions of latex paint. Unfortunately its not as simple as adding water. You can find diy chalk paint recipes online and try making your own, but they will perform very differently

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 4 lety

      A glaze is a liquid and wax is s solid. They can be used interchangeably sometimes. Wax is also a protectant and glaze is not

    It is no different than seeing and smelling someone in public whether they are drunk or reek of stale cigarettes because they smoke too much plus can't keep the odor down.
    You just have to explain the dangers of each product. Explain that cannabis used by adults can be just like drinking alcohol so that if you do either you need to be responsible. Smoking cannabis might cause you to have bronchitis but you can't die from a smoking session or have a hangover. But you can die from drinking too much alcohol in a short amount of time and then there is the dreaded hangover.
    On the flipside, long ago they used alcohol in medicine and still do in OTC products. But they are good for children. They thought smoking cigarettes was healthy and calming for the nerves. Now they know it causes cancer. Using cannabis medicinally can help so many different medical problems without the degradation of organs because it can be used in so many ways besides smoking.
    Cannabis can be used for children and the elderly which are both sensitive to medications. It is amazing what it can do to help those with without adverse effects for Parkinson's, epilepsy, and other neurological diseases of the brain.
    ❤️ God created cannabis. Man created alcohol. I would go with what God made. 😁
