  • **Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

    You never bore me with your painting. It's the one time I could watch paint dry...haha. You're so good at explaining your techniques. Thank you.

    Love all her work. The auto-focus here was driving me a little crazy. So I had to really concentrate on her technique and then I was fine.

    I love how you teach. We learn so much! Could you please have a horizontal picture? I can't see your whole piece.

    Would you recommend doing this look on Kitchen Cabinets? I love the colors together and think it would be great on my lower cabinets with maybe just the medium and light colors on the tops. I am just worried since you said you don't take the doors and drawers off/out but all the cabinet tutorials i have watched say to take the doors and cabinet doors off/out. What are your thoughts.

    I think you have to turn off your “auto focus” on your phone

    What did you do to the original piece. Did you just sand down the original finish, strip it, or prime?

    My bathroom cabinets are already stained and finished. How do I prepare those before painting?

    Would you recommend gator hide for kitchen cabinets? Thanks

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 6 lety +1

      Cheryl Tiefenthaler yes! Gator hide is Dixie belles most durable top coat, water repellant and dried rock hard once cured

      @cheryltiefenthaler1371 Před 6 lety

      Thank you. I have 35 cabinet doors and 9 drawers to do. I like the layering paint to create the weathered look that you did. So my thought was putting the base paint down and using one coat of gator hide, let dry and then the layers and 2 coats gator hide. Would you do anything different?

  • @cherylhawthorne8208

    Do you put the glaze on before or after the wax

    Could I use Minwax clear wax to protect the piece?

  • @psychemuse
    @psychemuse Před 5 lety

    I wish I new which color you used for the base coat. You mention that the "second coat is identical to the first" but that is not clear at all.

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 5 lety

      The first coat was blended dixie belle driftwood, vintage duck egg and stormy seas as well

    What color did you use the night before? It looked all blended.

    • @BrushedbyBrandy

      Beth Garofalo the second coat was an exact duplicate of the first

    If you blend with the dry brushes doesn't it gives brushstrokes?

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 5 lety

      Dixie belle is self leveling and paint is still wet enough to not be sticky

  • @norataylor4850
    @norataylor4850 Před 5 lety

    How do you prevent those lines that the brush makes where you start and stop a stroke?

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 5 lety

      Use a very soft hand, go over them once you have your look, and smooth them out

    You have to take your phone off auto focus

  • @marianne8ate
    @marianne8ate Před 5 lety

    Take off your auto focus so it stays clear on your piece, not on u every time u move

  • @marnieh4594

    why is this so out of focus?

    • @BrushedbyBrandy
      @BrushedbyBrandy  Před 5 lety

      This was an early video, cell camera refocuses as I move, was learning to manage that. Plus this was from a live video feed

    Your video is very blurry

  • @ellengill514

    Your video goes out of focus, and that makes it hard to watch.
