    I eat melons in this way : 1. cut the melon in half
    2. take a spoon
    3.Get serious bellyache !

    I use the Carribbean method, quarter the melon. Take one of the 4 quarters and make slices in 1/2 if it, then cut the bottom near rind so the slices just fall off. Then turn it around and repeat on the other 1/2. Very quick method. Thanks for the tip on picking a ripe melon - that’s the hardest part 😱

    I cut watermelon the 2nd way in the video. I cut them into spears. And I find this really helps.......Put a couple of folded paper towels underneath the watermelon you are cutting. They soak up the excess juice while you are cutting Makes clean up a snap.

    After slicing, I use a paring knife to trim. I cut a grapefruit with the second method.

    A little bit of the rind does not hurt anything. Also, the at "horrid" rind can be pickled, making a great pickled side dish.

      @@uziixyz , What ​ Eric Paquin says! Any fruit with a rind that you cut into, you should wash first. Because of the bacteria you would be cutting then dragging into the flesh.

    I'm here because I got a watermelon sitting at home on my dinning table and im wondering how to cut my watermelon because its been sitting there for about 2 weeks....

      AE, That can't be true. If you leave it there on the table for that long especially if is hot the watermelon would start spoiling and smell like alcohol and you have to throw it away. I had a watermelon sitting there on the dining table for 4 days, and on the fourth day I notice water dripping down from the table to the floor. I started to open it to cut in two halfs to put it in bags to throw away because the melon was real soft and smelled like alcohol. The garbage bin loved it.

    I have never had any luck with a light field spot on a watermelon. The same with light red "meat" like the chef said, I want deep dark sweet red color. For the field spot, I want to see yellow. If it is light it was not ripened very long, if at all in the field. .02 worth.

    Just use the second method but cut the top and bottom of the watermelon first so that you have a flat surface. Then cut the rind off.

      When your watermelon cracks as you slice it that means it’s a good one. This guys watermelon wasn’t great because it didn’t have a sugar spot on it.

      Watermelon cubes, spears, freeze very well. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that. Grapes also after being cleaned & separated.
