25 Custom Builds - Goodwill Hunter's Halo Mega Bloks Collection 2011-2012

- Here they are...all of my custom builds in chronological order. From my first, the Covenant Revenant in February of 2011, to the most recent, the UNSC Dragonfly in June of 2012. I've also included a list of sets that contributed the most bloks to each build, as this seems to be a common question. People also ask frequently about making instructions for these builds. As it took the better part of a month to make a set of instructions for the Revenant (still available via Spartanbloks.com), one of my smallest builds, it is highly unlikely that I will be able to make them for any of my larger builds. My best building advice is to find as many guide images as you can, and work to make your build look as much like your guide images as possible...that really is all I do when creating a custom. Interesting breakdown and analysis. Most of the sets I use for customs are bought on sale, clearance or used from ebay, so your cost estimate is actually rather high. In terms of a sale price, I prefer to hold onto my custom builds, so I've never really thought about how I would go about setting one. Thanks for the feedback!

When doing a custom build of an existing design, I find as many guide images as I can, and just try to match what I see using Mega Bloks as closely as I can. That's really all there is to it.

Jack Perry Ehhh, not really. This one was amazing don’t get me wrong. A true feat of ingenuity, but the official Scarab in my opinion is better. It can stand on its own, and Mega was able to make their own specialized pieces for the set. But working with what he has and was able to get, it was amazing.
He actually assisted in making the design for the 2014 scarab

Spec Ops I think that’s because it was originally a concept in Halo Wars 1 like many of the vehicles he’s built

Even though alot of these things are now proper Mega Bloks sets, they still stand out because they were made before all the official ones. And he'll, some like the Spirit still aren't!
It goes to show how good these are when it's hard to tell the difference between a custom made set and a real one. Good job!

When you collaborated with MegaBloks for the Scarab set, did they mention possible future collaboration? I would love to see a UNSC base set! Having that vs a Scarab and a ton of other stuff would be such a kickass diorama!

I don't remember seeing alot of these vehicles (like the razorback and mastodon) are they original creations or vehicles from the games?
They and a few others, like the Nightingale and Dragonfly are original designs, but most were either used or planned to be used in one of the Halo games.
Wow... they look pretty kick ass! If only they became official sets, then I'd be able to get one. Obviously I would get the Nightingale first, as I need a medical vehicle to get injured troops out of the battlefield. However, the Mastodon, Dragonfly, base turrets, and Razorback looked awesome as well.
you should show these new ones to 343 industries these would be awesome to use
343 should add evey single planed or original vehicle from all halo games into Halo 5

Although I've never liked the MegaBlocks brand, and have always loved LEGO brand instead, I will definitely say these MOCs are badass. If MB ever released your Halo CE Covenant Dropship or Scarab, I'd be forced to snatch them up. They're too amazing not to own! The scarab especially, my favorite.

Yes it looks like that but in Halo wars it makes it's only appearance in the halo series it am a very dedicated halo player and wondered why it was in no other halos just like falcons are only in halo reach

Falcons were the shit... so much more fun to fly than hornets.... you can tell they made hornets first in Halo 3, and then made the Falcon for Reach, knowing that everyone would call bullshit on the fact that the UNSC would take falcons "out of commission" months later. unless the dawn only had hornets.. :S I like to think that. :)

you should seriously consider sending in some of those designs to mega bloke! Who knows, they may pay you for your designs. I honestly think you do a better job than the people that design the box sets. Keep it up man!

Instructions for the Revenant and Firebase Turrets can be found on the SpartanBloks website, instructions for the larger builds would just take too long to do. As far as reviews go, I'll leave that up to you and the other viewers...greetings from Wisconsin!

Hot damn, I remember sitting at the computer in my old house. When I watched this video for the first time, I don’t think I had even played halo yet. Still, I was amazed at how absolutely kickass your builds were, and still are. It was also this video that made “The Covenant Dance” one of my all time favourite halo songs. I still collect these sets every now and then, even though I am 16. Actually, I kind of want to try and recreate one of my aircraft drawings as a build in either Lego or Mega Construx, so I can have a physical representation of it.
