Your shipping videos like this are so helpful. Thank you. I started selling on Etsy a few months ago and I have been shipping bone china pieces. So far everything has arrived safely, thanks in part to your tips and tricks for shipping breakables.
How would you package 3 large ceramic kitchen canisters? They measure about 8"x 5" each and 2 lbs each! I estimated 18 lbs and a 36" x 24" x 20" box to have room for double boxing. I don't want to prepackage them since I don't know if they will sell (due to condition issues). Any tips appreciated!
That is a very big box to use. You are going to have to pay an extra shipping charge if you use that large of a box to ship in. You can always check your cost on Pirateship even if you don’t use them the cost calculator should be close. If you can find 3 boxes that each canister would fit in snuggly and then put those 3 in a tight fit box that may help, but just be careful on the overall dimensions of the box due to surcharges now.
@@DoubleTsTreasures I figured I'm estimating way too big on my box! The calculated shipping range is showing outrageous amounts on my listing too. Maybe I better just do a trial packing on this one. I will check Pirateship! Thank you so much. 💗
Two questions. I shipped a cookie jar wide. Do you ever pack inside of cookie jar with news paper cause it hallow? It was going from ohio to Florida. An i put fragile should i not do put fragile cause they know its fragile? 😢 sadly it didnt make it. I used double bubble wrap on it . An packing pillows around with newspaper. So it was tight. Where do you get the green big bubble stuff. Scared . Then got sick . An post office wouldnt pay. Odd . But learning experience. Gotta ship fenton pitcher now an tubblers got any suggestions? No fragile Lol.laughing right.
Sometimes you can do everything right and the post office can still damage it. I don’t usually pack inside but you could. If you shipped priority they should have paid.
Have you ever reopened one of these mummified packages you make? They are difficult to open without 1-either cutting the items surface as you struggle to cut through all that tape. Or 2- you drop the item partway through wrestling with this mess! And the wrapping can not be reused due to the need to cut and cut.. ... Please find a better way. I refuse to give reviews to the resellers who ship like this.

what brand of clear tape do you use. I have gone through several but notice sometimes cheap tapes doesn't stick.
This is what I’ve been using for a while and it works well.

Do you charge a handling fee added to shipping for the cost of the packing materials since you pack so well?
Yes
How do you calculate the shipping cost?
I weight the item and do a rough estimate on dimensions and them add a few to make sure.

Well I’m not going to let something so beautiful and expensive to break soooo… you should handle with care and take your time opening.
