The final 3, Gi-hun, Sang-woo and Sae-byeok, are all trying to save their mothers.
In the face of anti-feminism going on in South Korea, perhaps the story is reminding us on the power of women as the motivating energy on life altering decisions.

There should be 3 finalists but the finals are designed for 2.. why? Its a coincidence that she gets hurt by an explosion, so badly, that she wouldnt be able to carry on even if she didnt get stabed.. and its not fair that the explosion went off as they were still at danger although they fairly won..
I thought sang-woo was just trying to get out of lies and debt
Idk so much about Sang-woo, seemed largely selfishly motivated. Maybe I'm biased though as I can't stand the character
Sae-Byeok’s personality is a mixture of Gihun’s and Sang Woo’s. She was tough, stoic, and determined to win no matter what just like Sang Woo. But she also had a good heart, was caring and could never kill anyone like Gihun. That’s why they were the three finalists they all resembled each other in some way.
She eats potatoes like that reluctantly, because she is sad about the tragic death of her short time friend in the marbles game. Yet she is rational enough to know she has to eat to survive. So her rationality wins unlike Gyeon who does not touch his potato as he is so sad because the old man has just been shot. also her throat is blocked somehow because she is crying inside :)
On the front wall of the office of the broker "남남북녀" "South Men, North Women" is written, that means his official business is marrying south korean (generally old) men with north korean young female defectors, that represents the hardship that female defectors face in my country. In South Korea, marrying this way is being seen somewhat dengrating, because here people generally think only desperate people do that. To marry to get out of poverty. And judging by the broker's dialect, he himself is a north korean defector.

I love how Gi Hun started this series resenting and hating her for what happened with the money he won at the gambling place…
To coming to genuinely love her as a person and being absolutely devastated at not being able to save her.
I think the gambling money she stole from him is the same money that got stolen by the people she paid to help her family escape North Korea
I mean…I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what happened.
She went from being "The pickpocket" to him to being loved by him like his own daughter
He really saw the good in her quickly and he was littelry so sad and hurt and devestaded that she died I love them so much together
Out of all the people in there that we know the backstory of, she deserved to win the most.
I desperately want Deok-Su explained. He was not some dumb thug, he was very intelligent.

anyone realise that Gi Hun swore on his mother's life in episode 2 and then she died in the end.
I guess when they blew up the glass it was pre programmed to kill anyone left on the glass panels at the end
I think you got a detail wrong, Sae-byeok and her family escaped through the Tumen river in the North into China and traveled to Mongolia where they are deported to South Korea (Mongolia has the policy of deporting all Koreans to South Korea), this is the most common route used by NK defectors. The DMZ is way too dangerous to escape through and has only been done like 1 time recently when a guard drove his vehicle straight through the border (they guy was shot a couple times but survived)
She is the victim of dictating communist government. Im from a corrupting arrogant communist country too. No freedom of speed here.
Given that this was the actress’ first role she did a fantastic job! I hope she gets more roles in the future 💗

Stupidest death in the game. She had the most reason to win out of the trio.
@@brantcloyd5485 It felt like an incredibly forced way to kill her off. Especially since the explosion could've killed all 3 players, meaning the VIPs would have no grand finale.
I could understand the glass explosion if any players were still on the glass, but they weren't.

@@alexvaughan1013 it does make sense that the person closest to the explosion was wounded the most, as gihun got his arm slit pretty deep and Sangwoo not taking too much dmg at all. The last explosion wasn’t a manual trigger but was instead automatic, especially since in the last 5 seconds they were still in the glass tiles. Regardless the glass explosion was purposefully set by the game to maximize the amount of deaths
@@alexvaughan1013 to me it seems that the exploding glass was not meant to injure those players that beat this game and that SaeByok's injury was accidental. Maybe this happened because they only just got off the bridge with moments to spare. The idea might have been that those who reach the end go through the door, protecting them from the flying glass, but these three didn't have enough time left to do that.
At least Kang Sae-byeok trusted Gi-Hun enough to tell him her name.
And she saved his life in glass stepping stones by telling him the real tempered glass unlike that other lady with the glasses

You got a few things wrong. First, the initial price was 4 mil KRW, same amount Gi-hun won betting on a horse race. That was pickpocketed and used to pay the broker. The 40 mil KRW is the increased price, and is the reason Sae-byeok re-entered Squid Game.

when it was just sae-byeok and sang gi-hun left. why coudn't they just vote out to stop the game and win by majority, then, one of them join again and this time they are against someone completely random, they win against the random person and share the money. hmm, they could've kinda done that from when they first voted to stop the game, but I guess you just can't be sure to trust that the person that joins the game again can win against someone random. the plan would be pretty smart to split the money once they win, but then again, what if they lost?

Sae-Byeok was silly in going back to the Squid Games. She could have found other ways to pay the broker and if she failed in that she would still have been there for her brother. The change of winning Squid Games was tiny, about 200 to 1. These odds might have made sense for Gi-Hun who was doomed anyway, but not for Sae-Byeok.
In her defense, nobody knew there would be one winner, she probably thought she could be a potential co-winner. Remember when she said to the broker that she put her life in danger just to get the money? She even got involved with thugs. She might have thought it's "easier" to play the 6 games and get the cash.
At this time, Sae-Byeok had no faith in humanity, and other than her brother had no reason to live. Also, growing up in North Korea probably desensitized her to death.
