UV unwrapping your model can be really important in some cases. If you have a label that is combined with the glass texture or you want to add extra detail to the bottle through displacement maps, then you need to make sure your UVs are unwrapped correctly.
UVs are basically your model unfolded like origami into a 2d image. We can then take this to software like photoshop and add texture and details to specific areas of our model using textures than modelling it inside of Blender.
I use this technique to add lots of detail without spending time modelling them.

Wouldn't squaring the UV mapping stretch and distort the texture?
How do you fix the sub division messing up the UV wrap?
The UV add-on is missing which is a shame as wasn't able to finish the project. Other than that, very thorough!
