    This is just an fyi for your future self (in case you didn't know this): the compass needle's red end is magnetized to be a north pole, meaning when it points/aligns to the face of the coil you're checking, that part of the coil is actually the south pole; the same idea for the other end of the compass needle (south pole of the needle aligns with the north pole of a coil). This doesn't matter in your case to get the eddy current dyno working but thought it may be useful to know for something that may come up in the future for you.
    Keep up the excellent work. Cheers.

    Inertia is your friend it can be a dyno just by spinning that mass up and recording rpm against time
    Mass of spinning object
    Rpm of spinning object
    Calculate acceleration for each second
    No brakes needed less heat less complex
    More dyno!

    • @razor1uk610
      @razor1uk610 Před 2 lety

      ..there has to be resistances akin to that which will load/act upon the tyre, wheel, bearings, & engine etc, ..as much to help tune the set-up, design and mechanicals enough before road/track testing - otherwise some settings can be far from correct or good enough to even get close to what originally envisaged.
      Plus an engine with little to no load will/can over-rev and wear out or destroy itself faster without that burden upon it, realistically taming it.

    • @jasonpeace1991
      @jasonpeace1991 Před 2 lety

      @@razor1uk610 the Shear mass of the rotor is enough of a load just because its not braked doesn't mean you spin it up without effort take a truck wheel could you walk upto one (raised off the ground) and just flick it upto speed by hand?
      A large enough mass takes allot of energy to spin it upto speed
      Plus the math is allot simpler
      When it comes to overreving that's what the throttle is for!

    • @rickbegeman4371
      @rickbegeman4371 Před 2 lety

      An inertia wheel doesn't have the ability to hold the motor at a set rpm. With the eddy current brake you can hold the throttle wide open and control the motor rpm with the dyno. At that point you can accurately measure the torques. 😀 I'd guess he needs to reduce the dyno rpm by 50% to reduce the intertia effect? It will be fairly exciting to stand anywhere near that brake at 3600 rpm! Are the rotors balanced separately? Are they indexed on the shaft? I had a horrible thought about balance and rotor indexing, hopefully it's just a thought.

      Never again problems working with cuts in your fingers. Just burns like a b when applied.
      Edit:
      For deeper cuts, infected or dirty wounds it's obviously a bad idea to just glue it shut. But it becomes more and more widespread in regular medical practice and has been used in the military even for deep, heavy bleeding wounds for decades for good reason.

    It is goood to hear It running again, sounds sweet! just give It plenty oil in that metamfetamin fuel. May I suggest to use a standard centrifugal clutch instead, at the dyno side of the frame. They are easy to tune for high rpm.

    Hey stuffing. If nobody told you, your telma will use 25-30 HP at 3000 rpm by the fans just so you know 😋

      😁 Might have to gear it down more then... On the plus side the coils will have an easy life!
