- Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant, and Mathias Ritter, Science Expert, explain the 9 symptoms of a dropping baby to help you understand if your baby is engaged in your pelvis. When people say that a baby has dropped, what they mean is that the baby has descended deeper into the pelvis. This is usually referred to as “the baby is engaged”. In fact, doctors and midwives usually make use of a 3- or 5-point scale to describe, how deep the baby is engaged in the pelvis. In this video, Nathalie and Mathias briefly explain how the 5-point scale works. Moreover, they explain 2 kinds of typical baby dropping symptoms. First of all, they talk about baby dropping symptoms that can be “observed”. In fact, in most cases, we can see a notable difference once the baby has dropped. Moreover, they talk about baby dropping symptoms that a woman may “feel and experience” and which she hasn’t felt or experienced before. Finally, they explain what you should do if you indeed believe that your baby has dropped.

How funny that my accent reminds you of the IELTS. So, this means that they made the listening comprehension part extra difficult! 😅 Personally, we have never done the IELTS but we did the TOEFL more than 10 years ago. At first i found your accent difficult but im happy that i got used to it so fast. It's very interesting what you tell us about the word "moreover". We had no idea that this is something that isn't often being used on North America. Mathias should know because he lived in Illinois for some time... (He just confirmed that he had no clue).
You know, here in Europe, when you are in High School, they always teach you to use as many transition words as possible (the most important being "moreover") so that it's easier for someone to follow your speech. 😅

I was struggling to find out if my baby dropped since my appointment isn’t for another week but I randomly got stretch marks over night. And my husbands mom said it looked like she’s dropped. Yup. Definitely dropped, I just can't see it. I actually feel like I felt her drop twice? Maybe she just moved. Bit more off balance, (scares my husband sometimes as I wobble out then back in balance), got more back pain, and my pelvic girdle pain got so much worse. Ech. XD 37 and 6 today. 38 tomorrow.

My doc has given me the okay to try home induction methods, dates, spicy food, walks, sex, etc.. She's doing great apparently and so am I :D. Very excited to meet my baby girl.

Probably, your baby just moved instead of dropping twice. But it does not really matter because all that counts is that your baby is in the right position and has engaged! 😍

I am 36+2 weeks, I'm feeling many of the baby dropping signs but 2 things im facing totally opposite is breathlessness, as i lay down i feel more breathlessness and I'm also feeling more heart burn today, but otherwise I'm can feel an obvious change in my belly shape, more urination, more pain and shocks in pelvis and vaginal part, difficulty in walking, etc

please note that you don't necessarily experience all the symptoms that we explain in this video when your baby has dropped. The problem is that every pregnancy is different. For example: the location of the placenta, size of the baby, position of the baby etc.
Please note that breathlessness during pregnancy can also have other causes. And we would like to recommend that you talk with your midwife about it!
Don't worry though! In most cases, it's just a side effect of baby's position in the womb. But it is always better to make one call more than necessary...

@@CareAboutLittleOnes can u suggest me regarding vbac as my 1st baby was c section and its been exact 4years i deliver the baby .. baby head is down but its not fully engaged my cervix too is not diluted . I am 28years old ,weight 68kg , height 5.5 , i don't have any health condition.. 1st was c section because i got scared as the umbilical cord was around her neck so i requested doctor for c section. But has if now there is no any other health condition i would like to try vbac . Doctor checked my earlier scars its fine i don't have pain.. but the only issue is she said we won't induce u if u have natural pains then we will go for natural birth process.

So, first of all, you can absolutely have a VBAC if your doctor doesn't see any problems. We really meet a lot of women who are having VBACs and there are hardly ever any complications. And even if there are complications, they have nothing to do with the C-section that they had. So please don't be worried at all about the VBAC itself! 😊
The only thing that has to happen is that you go into labor naturally. But at this point, in week 37, you really should not worry too much. Because you have A LOT of time to prepare your body for labor. For example, you can start eating dates, exercise regularly (if you are allowed to exercise) and you could also try acupressure and reflexology which we all explain in this video: czcams.com/video/8rehbupwhzY/video.html
Ideally, this will help you see a few early signs of labor, such as the mucus plug discharge, bloody show, some first contractions etc. And then you can continue with nipple stimulation to intensify the contractions.
This process normally works really really well! Just keep in mind that not every woman sees early signs of labor BEFORE she goes into labor. Some women only see them once they are in active labor...
