Very helpful video indeed! Thanks.
Your videos have been so helpful in planning our trip to Italy! Thank you so much!!
So happy to hear that!
Perfect! This video was so helpful. I like how it was short and to the point, but still had lots of useful tips. I now feel much less nervous to use the Metro on my trip 😊🎉
So happy to hear that! Have a wonderful trip!
Very nice and clear explanation. Much appreciated!
You got it!
Thank you so much! videos like this really help people! Im going to visit Rome in April; at first I was very nervous as I might get lost but this video has certainly helped me feel more confident! Thank you! :D
Nick, I am so happy you found this video useful. That was my goal. April is a wonderful time to visit Roma. Enjoy!
Thank you for this well explained video. I will be visiting Rome in August from the UK & needed information about the metro. Thanks again👍
My pleasure! Have a wonderful time in Rome
Just booked a visit in January and this is super helpful!
So happy to hear that! Have the most wonderful time
Thanks for the straightforward and helpful video. I was trying to understand how to buy tickets in Turkey but apparently there were some passes that were no longer available or extremely confusing to understand, but your video on Rome was really reassured me that I won't have issues with buying tickets/passes in Italy. Sei troppo gentile!
Yea, you definitely will not have issues here in Rome. Have an awesome trip!
Thanks for all the amazing videos! Going to Rome for my first time this winter and look forward to using all the great advice you have provided! B
My pleasure Andrew. Have the most amazing time!
This is so helpful. Thank you very much!
You got it!
Truly hope that you will find this video helpful and informative for your next trip to Roma!😍
Thank you so much! Please make a video on how to get from airport to trains and cheapest way to get to center of rome. We got ripped off by black taxi van charged us $150 US dollars but hotel said it only cost $60 to get back to airport 😮.
Fabulous. I smashed the like button and smacked the subscribe. So few people actually do. Great video.
Thanks for the tips
My pleasure!
Thanks Anastasia, your information will make using the Metro so much easier next time I’m in Rome. Grazia Mille.
My pleasure Anne! Hope you will visit Rome shortly!
Beautiful adorei favorite Rome my friend
Great to know how to get around Rome quickly!! As metros always different between counties
Exactly! I find Rome metro to be super easy to navigate comparing to lets say the one in NYC🙈
Useful and precise infos!
Thank you!
informative and helpful .. Thank you :)
My pleasure!
Thank you. Wonderful.
My pleasure!
The more I watch your videos, the more I become familiar with Italy. Thank you for that. One quick question about getting tickets for a train to other cities to and from Rome, are there any apps for that?
omg thank you for the tip!
You got it!
Really useful...thx for your help x
My pleasure!
From Termini train station you can comfortably and quickly reach Fiumicino airport. It brings you inside of it.
Exactly!
great info
Thank you
thank you for sharing. i was wondering if you have a suggestion on how to get from Eataly to Roma Termini
Super easy! Metro station Garbatella and from there you will go straight to Termini.
Hola, I love your videos. Much help in planning our upcoming trip to 1:02 Rome. Question: how do I reach Alessi station from Termini?
I checked 3 sites and they give me different answers.
Do I need to walk from Termini to Laziali?
Thank you.

Hi, I will be staying at Piramide Hotel and was wondering if the train from the Airport goes directly there by any chance as I see they have a Metro station next to it. Thanks and have a good day 😊
This was helpful seeing exactly how the subway system look versus just hearing someone talk about it because I’m from Miami we don’t use public transport like for example NY so I’ve always jus hoped in my car and drive and park everywhere so the metro or bus scare me because I don’t know how it works and the different buses what if I get on the wrong one how do o know what stop to get off to me my brain doesn’t understand it easily lol
I hear you - I've been to Miami many times (one of my favorite places in the U.S.) Happy that you found this helpful!
Hi, if you use a credit card or debit card on the Metro does it max out if you hit the daily rate like London?
Hay brilliant video. Can you advice me or if anyone else reading my comment - how can I get from San giovanni train station (subway) to go to the vatican quickly? Am going there soon and am trying to find out easy options.
Thank you Gracia x
We will be in Rome this Sept. What are good and affordable areas that are near subway stations or Termini ?
New follower here! We are coming via ship in June. Coming via Leonardo express to termini. What’s the online link to get the metro ticket?? Trying to get to the colosseum.
Brava Anastasia
Grazie Luca!
I hesitate to admit it, but I either walked or took taxis everywhere in Rome including from the airport and back to it on my way home, because even the thought of the Metro felt intimidating to me. Armed with this video though, I think I’m going to brave the Metro next trip. I will say though that I found taxis to be fairly reasonable, and the taxi drivers to be honest …… which is a lot more than I can say about the Taxi drivers in Paris. I loved walking everywhere in Rome though, and averaged 5 miles of walking per day. Thanks for this video, Anastasiya 💕
I hear you! I walk everywhere as well. But there are times when I need to take metro to get somewhere outside of the Centro Storico and for that metro is excellent, because you get there fast, without any traffic. And yes-taxi is a great solution as well, as long as you order it through the app.
same here.
@@Shiningstar104 yeah, I like to keep things simple and treat myself very well when I travel. I figure I’m already spending a lot of money, so a few hundred extra to make my travel experience easy is money well spent!
Am I right? Or am I right? 😊
@@lostwarriorwanderingI will be there on 30 and 31st May and already butterfly running in my stomach 😂!! I know nothing about this city and my wife and kid will be with me. I am sure I will get lost somewhere there..
@@shivathealmighty exciting! I love Rome! Have fun!
Thank you so much for this. I will be going to Rome by myself in a few weeks and I'm really nervous about travelling. Would you reccomend any hotels in particular at a reasonable price?
Since you are coming during the most popular months, unfortunately everything will be expensive. You will just have to do a lot of research and compare the prices.
I'm going to Rome in about two days, and I might just be overthinking this, but for the tickets, there are different tickets that have different amounts of time on them, right? So if I get a ticket that has 1 hour on it, does that mean it expires in an hour or that I can ride a bus for 20 minutes in the morning and 40 minutes in the evening?
Hi may I ask- if I just use my card to get through instead of queueing up to buy a ticket, does it still cost €1.50?
Also, if i tap my credit card and get into the bus and lets say, if iwant to take the metro connection, they after tapping my credit card again, will it check, there is already an active ticket, which is valid for 100 minutes? Or do i pay again for another ticket for connecting metro
02:14 what's the difference between inserting the ticket or touching the ticket on the yellow circle to open the gate, please?
Loved that we can just use a credit card! Thanks for this video!
I know! So convenient.
Can you tap your credit card to get on the bus too?!
@@annarichmond1733 I don't think so.
Also never knew you could tap a credit card instead of buying a metro ticket!!!! Never knew this!!
So convenient!
But what if they ask for your ticket? 🤔
@@niknoknak4006 they scan your card
Is it still the same price?
@@Legolancer thankyou!
just came back from Rome, used Metro couple of times and every time somebody tried to pick pocketing, used Uber taxi after that, little expensive than Metro but safe. Be very careful of pick pocketing, they work in groups, will get in middle of family to separate you and then do their act.
What about busses? They go all over. The metro is limited. Can touchless credit cards be used on the bus?
Hello..are ticket prices for children the same as adults?, and is it safe to ride the metro with children?
Hi, one confusion for me about bus or metro tickets for kids? Can they travel for free if the parents have the tickets? For example kids age is 6 and 11
Wonderfun video. Thank you. Your tip about tapping a credit card at the turnstile is great news. That's how I'll go. As I understand it, a traveler needs to know which train to get on (direction). The ending station is shown on the train so you can be sure which direction you need to go. Is that correct? So for example to go from Termini to Circus Maximus, we would take the Blue Line marked Laurentina (last stop in that direction). Correct? And to return from the Circus Maximus to Termini, we would take the Blue Line marked Rebibbia. Do I have that right? Thanks for any help. I'm going in mid May and can't wait!
Now it is too late for you, but that is exactly how it works. There are signs that lead you to your entrance (direction of ending station) and there are also tables with the intermediate stations where you want to exit.
@@ralfjansen9118 Thank you. Yes, I went in May and used the metro and it worked perfectly. The only thing (and it was a "duh moment" for me) is to notice the tap symbol towards the top of the turnstile, not where you use a metro card. Once you see the spot, it's tap and go.
Hi, thanks a lot for sharing these informative videos about Rome, A long time ago I asked you which is the best month to visit Rome November or December now you convinced me to come in December to enjoy the Christmas decorations. So next December we are going to visit Rome for the first time. I would like to take the Metro from Termini to Piazza Dell Popolo I know that I have to take the orange line from Battistini to Flaminio and then walk to Piazza dell Popolo. My question is Is this Metro line working at the moment? Because according to google Maps there are some modified services. Can you help me with this, please? Thanks a lot, Ben from Malta.
Hi Ben! I am glad that you are coming to Rome in December. Unless you enjoy rain.... Haha! It's raining as I am writing this. Any way, Flaminio station is open, I was just passing it yesterday. Now I cannot guarantee it will be the case when you get here. Between the works and manifestations, it can be closed. But right now it's functioning as per usual. My advice, in case its closed, you can always exit on Spagna metro station and then walk to Piazza del Popolo. It's not too far. Have a wonderful trip!
@@StayFabulousTL Hi, thanks a lot for your advice I am very much looking forward to visiting Rome for the first time in December it will be more beautifully decorated for the festive season.
Can you also pay at the fare gate with a debit card (like Maestro) or does it have to be a credit card?
It can be a debit card as well.
Thank you so much. But you did not explain how to choose the right path and how to know how the line is going or going back
What are the schedules for public transportation in the city? Are they 24/7? Thank you!
The buses and trams run between 05:30 am - 12:00 am. The metros, on the other hand, run from 05:30 am until 11:30 pm Monday-Thursday. And on Fridays and Saturdays metros operate until 01:30 am
Does the bus now take credit cards too?
Thks girl
You got it!
Hey i want to go by metro from line A and then change to B, can i also use the BIT Ticket or is it more then 1 ride???
You can change trains as you Like during the time of validity
Is there any escalators or elevators for a large luggage visitors to use the rail public transport than using stairs..? I didn't see any elevators or escalators in your video after you bought the tix to get into the basement to catch the metro/train..
Chrisna, unfortunately most of the central subway stations do not have elevators/lifts, but they do have escalators (please keep in mind sometimes they can be out of order.) Also, there are certain parts where only stairs are available.
@@StayFabulousTL thanks for your info.. really helpful 😉
To make sure I understand it. Only the train is considered metro correct. Not the city bus? But you can still get on either the train or the city bus with the same $1.50 ticket?
Yes, correct. The same ticket is valid for all public transport including metro, trams, buses, etc
Дуже д‘якую!
🙏🙏
Hi, may i know, does all Metro stations have escalator/elevator? Travelling with big suit cases and baby stroller... Thanks in advance
Unfortunately, there are some metro stations where you will have to use stairs. Not the entire time, but certain parts.
@@StayFabulousTL Spagna & Barberini Metro Station?
can i use baby strollers and big suitcase in metros to travel to airport? do they have lifts?
Yes, you can.
If you have kids and want to do the credit card tap, can u tap it multiple times? Or would it be best to get tickets
Yes, you can definitely tap multiple times.
Wait I can use my credit card without a ticket?? How do they know to validate my ticket then?! How do you get multiple people on a credit card?
Can I buy weekly pass at the machine AND pay by card?
And what about if I pay by card at the gate (as you showed), then how I can I prove if I have valid ticket? (for example when I have chanfe for a bus). I'm sorry but I have never been there.
Yes, you definitely can pay for a weekly pass by card. As far as someone checking your metro ticket, that doesn't happen anymore. But if for some strange reason it does happen, you can just show the transaction on your credit card statement. That will be sufficient. Same goes for buses.
Thank you!
The first time I caught Rome metro I noticed the heavy roman accent of the recorded female voice indicating the upcoming stations. 😄
Hahaha!
how much do you pay if you tap your credit card in the entrance?
Is it possible to pay by apple pay or credit card with machine tickets?
Yes, it is
Can I tap my debit card, not credit card at the metro?
You can😊
Can you use your phone to pay for metro😊
Are the metro tickets connected to bus tickets ?
Yes!
👍🙌
How do we validate if we use our credit card instead of buying a ticket?
The tap system is directly at the barrier of the metro entry (and opens it), you obviously do not need to validate the credit card payment. If controlled, they just read the credit card again and recognize the payment.
Gracias Mi Amor
Can you use a British visa debit card
REMEMBER TO Validate your TICKETS on the stamp machine
Hello thank you for the great video, just want to ask if it’s possible to buy a few single-use ticket on the first day of my trip and use them each on subsequent days?
Yes, it's possible. You can also buy 24h, 48h, 72h passes. Just depends on how much you plan on using public transportation in Rome😊
how is it traveling with kids on the public transport if you’re paying with debit cards? Do kids travel for free?
We just finished joining a cruise from Rome ( Civitavecchia) in August 2023. Do not buy the 6 Euro bus ticket to the port bus, there is no bus take you to the gate and there is no one you can ask questions. We stood in the hot sun for 2 hours and no bus. The white bus comes every 40 minutes and only go the Norwegian and MSC ships. Most people have to walk the 0.8 miles with luggage to the gate or share a high price taxi for the 10 minute ride to the gate. At the gate, you have to wait another 45 minutes to board a bus to your ship. What a mess.
Thank you for sharing with the community.
I want to add that the ticket system is very simple - there is only one zone: The full city area. You even could go to the beach (Lido) and Ostia Antica, but, sorry, the airports are excluded.
I always took the weekly ticket and were free to go everywhere, also by bus to some remote monuments.
The bus lines, though, were somehow complicated but ok once getting used and understood .
Attention: You can't buy tickets in the bus but have to get them in advance, from a machine, kiosk or a licenced tobacco shop (!).
Thank you for sharing with the community!
So you can buy three single tickets for 1,50€ at the same time and use it for threee rides and it doesn't matter when you use them?
@@soil80 Sure... You could use them either for three persons at once or for three rides for one person. But don't forget to validate (stamp, cancel) them before each ride, either at the barrier of the metro or inside the bus or tram.
I stayed for longer and took a week ticket, cheap and easy.
@@ralfjansen9118 thanks for the quick reply! In my hometown you have to use the tickets on the day you brought them, so I was a bit confused whether you could buy them beforehand and use them up throughout the week.
@@soil80 As I said, you have to cancel them, this means the starting time and date is stamped on them, and then you have your 100 minutes of validity that could be controlled by the authorities. You can change trains and busses, but after leaving the metro (barrier!), you can not re-enter the metro.
I biglietti della metro si possono acquistare anche dai tabaccai ed in alcune edicole di giornali.
Giusto!

Yeaaa...
@@StayFabulousTL I didn’t know this, but on my last day in Rome, my Airbnb host took me to a magazine stand in Trastevere to buy a tram ticket (green line) to Roma Trastevere train station to catch the train Fiumicino. She saved my feet from blisters lol
Ouch! Yea, Trastevere is excellent for food and nightlife, but it would not be my first choice for accommodations in Rome.
Not many details...all looks huge.
watch out for pickpockets, they're everywhere
did you get hit? bec she said it's not bad when she even used crowded subway.
but I do worry about those pickpockets and why I always use money belt and put all the important items (credit cards, cash, smartphone) in there, under the sweater and coat. I mean, the pickpocketer has to be REALLY GOOD to get anything from my hidden money belt. lol
@@dionysus4778 yes, my wallet was stolen leaving the Metro at Barberini station. 1. Avoid credit cards, use Apple Wallet 2. Keep credit cards separated, never put all in one place 3. Keep credit card in line of sight, such as top front shirt pocket 4. If someone is talking to you in Rome, they are trying to get your money, either legally or illegally, they are not your friend 5.
