    Liked seeing a demo on a house that has a lot of surprises. Makes it much more practical than watching a video where everything is as expected. Easy to learn a lot more about things to look out for when taking on something like this.

      It would be great to video a "nightmare" house from start to finish. We are renovating a rental property right now and actually it is a barn conversion that is in better shape than some modern houses we have purchased in the past. Well the 2x4 joists are scary...but I'm sure the inspector will catch that next week. Then again, back in the day it was a barn and not designed to hold granite counters and a stone fireplace...

    I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I always wonder when I watch demo's on tv why they make such a mess for themselves. I took off my hood vent this fall and what a mess, the wires were wrapped with duct tape, the ground wasn't connected. You would chuckle if you saw the plumbing in my kitchen. I bought this house from a contractor believe it or not, lots of hidden treasures.

      As for TV, people forget it is "entertainment". While I would love to watch a guy with a tool belt all day, it is not very exciting to the other 90% of viewers....I remember in my parents house, when father renovated he found the wall sconces taped with scotch tape (not even electrical or even duct tape!) And the light fitting almost fell on my head one day from the ceiling, missed my by inches, talk about a brown trouser moment! While I am an enthusiastic amateur and semi skilled DIY'er, I do like to read up as much as I can before I attempt anything. My father worked for a construction company for many years and was very handy, that helped growing up...

      Totally relatable
      I just got a house that was pre owned by a contractor and it was the sloppiest work u had ever scene
      Nothing was up to code or inspected
      Literally it looked liked a child remodeled the house
      No in fact my 5 year old son could do a better job
      I am honestly surprised the house didn’t burn down or fall down

    That wire just being in the Cold Air Return is more Dangerous than the staples you were talking about. Effectively if there were an animal or something down the road that caused the wire to get hot, and if it got hot enough to start a fire, the return would feed that fire Air. I know it is against my Local Electrical code.

    I don't know how I got here but I hope this is a series to the bitter end of the remodeling job. Speaking of the staples holding the electric wiring, I have that in the cellar and I wonder if the whole place is done in the same way, there is no way I am tearing down walls

    can someone explain the pressure in the beginning? What do you need to do to keep dust levels down?
    Do you just need to force air out of the house to get this negative pressure?

    hi there great video as always, can you explain what you were saying about the wires not being legal when installed with those staples, something about 5 lanes being put through 2 lanes? thanks, and keep up the amazing videos.

    • @HomeRenoVisionDIY
      @HomeRenoVisionDIY  Před 6 lety

      The staple should not be compressing the wire against the wood. Just holding it in place.

    If the copper in wire had contact with hood fan, it would create a short circuit and trip the breaker, A short circuit causes a large amount of current to flow instantaneously.

      Check with your dishwasher Manufacturer, where most dishwashers fix to the bottom of the countertop, most dishwasher manufacturers have kits to mount to the sides instead.
