I started riding kawis as a kid. Kx80, Kx125 and then onto Honda's with a cr250 (I was a big Jeremy McGrath fan).
That Kx80 brings backs lot of memories. Maybe you will finally be able ride the powerband on a 2stroke now.
Nice! Set float height to spec. Clean needle seat with toothpaste and qtip. Set idle to spec. Leak test.
You have the best parents in the world. My parents didn't mind my bikes and pigeons. I even had wild ducks for a while and a seagull. Very busy teen with parents who would say when I first brought something home, "that will never make it son". Then I doctored it if ripped open with needle and thread closing up open abdomens and broken wings. Might not fly fast anymore, but up to the rooftop and back was still fine.
Runs good? Its breaking up badly up top my dude. Idle is also way too high. Needs some carb attention. Not trying to be a dick but its not all there. Yet.

Its ridiculous how much these old 2 strokes are going for right now.. I get its the time of the year but there jacked way to hi at the moment, there's more ads ISO then people selling lol. Last winter i bought a 89 cr125 .. Solid low hour bike that someone spent time and money on that had a fried stator that i paid 200$ for. I saw a couple same year or close models sell for 1500$ in the past month that looked clappedd smh.. If your looking to buy a bike now wait till you find the right one
Ya I know a few months ago I could buy mint cr125s all day for 700 now they're wanting 2000 it ridiculous

Wish i lived in U.S of A bikes sound like they cheap as chips def wanna try n get couple sent ova just need a good connect.... 2strokes r goin for top dollar where im from cr250 07 selling for 12k because he reckons it is the last 1 in the state!!! Haaa!! Some1 hook me up we can make sum flow!

Nice Bike! $380 was a steal of a deal! Not to bust your chops, but I recently sold a high end chainsaw and got lowballed big and when he said, well what if I bring you cash??? I’m like I only take cash and would you expect me to take a check? Again, I sold a truck for 4K and again, cash only!
The bikes that are restored are easily going for 5-6 times what you paid or more. Everyone that grew up in the 80’s wants one. He could’ve easily got 600 plus for that if he waited for the right buyer. What annoys me most are the guys that lowball, then complain and whine because you waited for the right buyer and didn’t jump on their offer. I’m not directing my rant at you in particular, but just my experiences selling on Marketplace.
I don’t understand when you say things are running really good.. even for an 80 that power band should sound so smooth and should really take off, sounded really jumpy and buggy in power band witch shouldn’t happen 🤷🏼♂️

Love it great little bike I had a 60 a brand new 65 and a 80 when I was younger I loved each of them but the 80 had powerbands it was s beast my friends hated me that I had it as they where on pw 80 mine was like a rocket and then I got a puch magnum my best bike in the whole world I would give a fortune to find that bike I know it's out there somewhere

When you fill up the oil going by the “oil window” it should only be about half full when cold, remember oil expands quite a bit , if you fill it cold full it will expand and be really over full
I have worked on car and bike most of my life I did not know oil expands when hot

Unfortunately i cracked the frame from where the forks mount landing a 50ft+ high jump in the sand pits. That was in '04, I still miss her.

Last weekend I had a case of findneutralitis in my left foot for some reason I could not hit 2nd without hitting neautral first 😂

@Dalton Smith get it treated as it can spread to your right foot causing rearbreakitis leading to excessive loopouts and expensive rear fender subframe and seat repairs! Not to mention damaged pride!
What type of ultrasonic cleaner do you use and what degreaser do you run in it
Running lean coz the revs stay high when u give it gas and u need a new float needle👍🏼
I rode a bike Exactly like it in Tx in 1998. Had leaking head gasket and almost the same wheel bearing problems.

Ever since Corona the deals around here are crap in TN. Before I had raptor and warrior 350s and LTZ400 for $500 that needed carbs or valves adjustment. Now they're selling for $1200 blown up. Only good thing is I had a 350x honda, I couldn't get running for the life of me I paid $200 from an old dude, and I sold it for $1100 during this time.

Is that '86 a big wheel kx80? My '89 was. I can't locate good specs on the internet, but IIRC it had a 19 inch front wheel and a 16 inch rear wheel, and the seat height was about 2 inches taller than the small wheel kx. I remember it was a mean little bike and it actually threw me off one time as I was doing donuts in the dirt. I was probably 180 lbs and it didn't care!

If the forks need oil they also need seals.

Hey, I just got a ultrasonic cleaner, what chemicals should run through it and should I use the heat mode?
I use simple green solution with heat
You will love the ultra sonic cleaner and I like to use Pine Sol or Simple Green!
