Diesel was the man. Grew up in d.c.watching the skins and hogs. Glory years for sure. John ran that ball like a bowling ball and kept it real as can be! Damn we were great back then.
John Riggins and Jerome Bettis had two of the quickest feet ive ever seen for a huge running backs . John Riggins maybe a Hall of Famer but he still underrated
Ive met John Riggins and Art Monk back when I was young and the Redskins rocked in the 1980's. Both redskins players embodied decency, humility and friendliness that has stayed with me to this day.
Best way I can describe Riggo compared to other power runners such as Campbell, Csonka, etc is the former two would wallop you with everything they have but eventually they'd tire out. Riggins would take everyone's best shots and just keep on moving. He was built for it and he knew it and would simply let defenders wear themselves out before he'd take them out

"I had to hear it one more time"
Legend
John Riggins means more to this city than Sandra Day O' Connor. More than the whole Supreme Court.
I live in England, the first NFL game I ever watched live on tv was Superbowl 17. This guy made me a Redskins fan.

I was at that game when Riggo went into the ring of honor. That was the loudest pop I ever heard at RFK.
Goose bumps, yes!!

This is the primary reason I am a lifelong Washington Redskins fan.
What a guy
John Riggins
HOF fullback
SB17 MVP
166 yards and 3 touchdowns against Miami
Washington defeats Miami 27-17
He ran through every defense in the playoffs that year. And they ALL knew he was getting the ball. 🔥🔥🔥
Riggins was a wild guy.
Long live Riggo!!
Riggins was a human battering ram! He would find a way to run through a brick wall.
LT sure had Riggins' number. But not always.
Long live "THE DIESEL" !
The diesel forever
So I had a few drinks....
He was John Madden in cleets.
I’m bored 😑
I’m broke
I’m back
Maverick? Riggins is the Diesel
He could pancake defensive players too
Did he really Bite The Hand That Feeds?
Last of the great white running backs.... no more chances given
Riggo was faster than Derrick Henry and tougher.
He was not faster than Derrick Henry. Riggo had decent speed but nothing like Derrick Henry.
