    I remember seeing you on Bike World a couple of years ago on a Ducati trial day and you were excited about the hypermotard then. Have you wanted one since then? How do you get on with the seat height? Isn’t it 890cm?

    • @JoannaFBenz
      @JoannaFBenz  Před 5 lety

      Yes, two years ago I fell in love with the Hyper and wanted her ever since. And yes, she’s tall. I’ve learnt a few tricks to manage big bikes, like sliding to one side, when stopping, and using camber to my advantage. I might actually make a video about it, as the question keeps coming back. It seems I became the official shortie of the bike world 🙈🤣

    Regarding the gender curiosity thing. I also spent time trying to figure out the logic behind it. The first step is to adapt perspective that you should separate ones sex and ones gender. The sex is apparently a physical thing and the gender is more of your perspective upon yourself. Thats why they see it as there are not only two genders, you can identify yourself with varying degrees of both. I have a very simple life, I see myself as a male, my sex agrees with me and I'm fine with it. I do agree that people that find themselves "trapped in the body of someone else" must live through a serious ordeal and their path to happiness may be to change their sex despite the significant physical implication it will have. I think that it will not be a easy decision to make but if it is the right way to go for a individual they will figure it out.

    • @tomasnilsson1669
      @tomasnilsson1669 Před 5 lety

      And regarding the bathroom issue, I'm not bothered by ladies using the mens bathroom and I have met very few guys that differ in this regard. The only argument I have heard is stupid ones like "If they want to use ours, I can use theirs" and that is not true at all. I always assumed that the opposite is not equally welcome, that women prefer their privacy and I respect that. So, if you are unsure where to go, head for the male one. You are welcome.

      As a self confessed short arse - albeit a shortarse with a decent amount of experience and confidence on bikes - I can honestly say that I'm yet to find a bike where seatheight was a deal breaker. Yes pushing bikes backwards uphill on tiptoes whilst seated on the bike is a pain but if the bike offers something that others don't in the way it rides and how it makes you feel then shortarse problems are not usually insurmountable. You learn to ride around your short comings and with a bit of forward thinking , you can avoid putting yourself in situations where you're likely to struggle most of the time .

      I wouldn't say that, many drivers give me space to pass in city queues and on busy country roads. We aren't legally allowed to filter in Sweden so, if someone doesn't give me space I'm fine with that.

    To understand the gender thing, have you tried imagining your self in a guy's body and living your life in it? Would it be uncomfortable for You? If so, that's how transgender folk feel. Although it's not uncomfortable for everyone to imagine being in the body of the opposite gender as of course some are more gender fluid and don't mind either way.
    I agree on the toilet stuff, ridiculous people make a big fuss about it

  • @ManxVlogger
    @ManxVlogger Před 5 lety

    I'm reasonably uneducated on the topic, so this may be full of inaccuracies, but my understanding is there's two "main" things related to gender dysphoria.
    1. Body dysphoria - feeling like you're in the "wrong" body.
    2. Not sure what you'd call this one technically, but feeling like you associate more with one gender than the other (whether it's your own or not...). This one I understand less. I can appreciate that body dysphoria must be pretty awful to have, and I can understand that surgery etc may be the way to fix that. For when it's just about feeling of association with a particular gender, I think in part at least this is more to do with society's daft views on what is "manly" or "girly". You can be a boy and like heels, dresses, barbies, whatever. You can be a girl and like monster trucks, power tools, whatever.
    I think the most important "group" to associate with is yourself, the individual. Whatever you like, dislike, believe, etc. It doesn't mean you're anything other than YOU!

    If you ask me the world has gone mad in regards to this whole gender thing. I just don’t associate myself with those people. I mean no offence to anyone here, but from what I’ve observed, those who are “confused” about their gender, or who are apparently a different gender each day based on how they’re feeling, have some serious mental problems
    Again I mean no offence, that’s just what I’ve noticed and observed from being around them. They aren’t your typical “normal” person
    Another thing that confuses me, you may be able to change your genitals, but you can’t change your DNA

    • @Bredaxe
      @Bredaxe Před 5 lety

      And any medical treatment must be considered using your actual gender at birth. Ideal body weights and things like medicine administered, ventilator setups, etc. Changing your genitals does not change your DNA. If some archeological did finds their skeleton in the future, they will be identified by their birth sex as make and female pubic bone structure is different. Can't change that either.

    Another very good new video. Thanks you JFB! :)
    So if or when you do sit down with someone who can answer the questions you have, please share. I think I agree with just about everything you said along that topic.
    My only issue and/or confusion is with the people ...parents, who have new borns and do not want the birth certificate to read boy or girl. They want to leave it blank or have an 'X' there. And these are the same people who believe in science and climate change (as do I). If you believe in science then you know you're kid was born as a male or female. And if later in life the kid wants to change their sex I'm with them 100% - go for it! But again, I find it perplexing to say you don't want to label the childs sex at birth. So on that note ....have a nice day! :)

  • @T0bimaru
    @T0bimaru Před 5 lety

    Gender roles can be confusing. I'm open to the freedom of expression, but sometimes still bewildered. Instead of 'he' or 'she' some people want to be referred to as 'non-gender'. I can't really keep up with it even though I want to respect everyone. Assuming gender based on appearance comes down to basic human instinct; you just have to prepare to be wrong more often these days.

    How do you know what YOUR gender is? Others it's the same way, they just KNOW. When I lived in Germany, men and women changed in the same room for martial arts training, it was quite OK. As long as shared sex bathrooms have stalls, it's not really a problem. The only 'problem' exists in the minds of the puerile. Some dorms in the US had showers and bathrooms shared by both sexes. Forced gender identification by colors is pointless, since the colors change with cultures and time anyway. High heels are created by patriarchy because men find it sexually attractive, and could careless about the damage it does to females. No need to drink that koolaid. Looking forward to Hypermotard videos!
