What is it about the blues? How can one explain the potency of this apparently simple musical form? A key factor in jazz, the blues gene also zigzags through rock and soul, and is a significant influence on country ‘n’ western and reggae, too. Certainly, jazz musicians have no doubt of the continuing efficacy of the blues form, with successive generations of jazzmen obtaining creative sustenance from the time-honoured 12-bar structure. They love the tone qualities and timbre peculiar to blues expression.
One who makes ample use of the blues in his new compositions is prominent trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, who often reminds us that Duke Ellington, too, was a man who never lost his affinity for the blues. As if to illustrate this, there’s a story credited to the late Basie band vocalist Joe Williams. “If ever Duke came into a club,” he said, “you just waited ‘til he stood up to go, put his coat on and got to the door, and then you started to sing a blues. Duke would just turn around and he’d be back at his table straight away.” - Hudba

can you imagine the vibe in those clubs? the outfits? the PEOPLE!
A. Di Gennaro lemme guess u where born in the wrong generation
The legal segregation, the rooms full of smoke, cheap gut wrenching liquor, cocaine and heroin on the tables, whores roaming the clubs while their pimps waiting to rob you blind. Yes, what an Era. Don't you miss it?
Apparently there was absolutely nothing good about the era. Ok. Nothing. Got it. Not even the music.
Dream ❤️

Yes your right. Time stand still.
My daddy and uncle ran them juke joints and after hour clubs in the 30's and 40's. The stories were rich. Life was hard. Jim Crow, sun down towns. The music belonged to tge people and people belonged to the moment. Strange fruit still hung from the trees and smoke from pistols filled the taverns like cigarette smoke. It wasn't all like you see in the movies.
それにも非常にどっさりと簡単にすれば東京メトロポリタンテレビジョンTOKYO MX様などが思いきってミディアムな試験電波発射音楽などをしっかりと流してくれますので決して忘れません。天晴れですよ。誇らしいですよ。
"smoke from pistols filled the taverns like cigarette smoke." Excellent
Sun Down Towns? Are they the places where you had better get home before the sun sets here?
Buddy, you need to novelize these stories you have a very great way with words in a tone almost forgotten in today's world.
THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE IN THE COMMENT SECTION DOESN’T ROMANTICIZE THE 40’s
Love this music. So earthy and all encompassing!❤❤❤❤❤
For Tennessee Williams, today March 26th, 2024, which was his birthday. Hug to the heaven, dear Master!

I was used to listen to this music while cooking pasta with beans, living in a pretty old building in the historic city center of Bologna, Italy, with open window, sunshine, road noises, cigarettes. Perfect atmosphere.
Wow that’s sounds incredible I want that life. Commenting from the suburbs of Southern California paying $2,000 a month for a simple apartment with no view or pets allowed or smoking
@@PaulTech-Reviews You belong in Ukraine. Lots of pets around, cheap beer and a funny president. Forget the last bit, they are a dime a dozen.

it used to be cool
now it's kinda lame
@@PaulTech-Reviews Pack your bags, sell off the shite you don't need and hit the road. There is nothing that can stop you if you really want to go, especially if you are one of those guys who is willing to work for your dreams. My personal favorites in the North of Italy area is Pieve Di Cadore and Murano. Go google them and let your mind be blown away. The only good thing in getting older is MORE MUSIC... TO LOVE.
Here in 2022, just vibing. What a great time that would've been. I'm definitely living in the wrong era.
Maravilhoso, amoooo, época linda. As roupas, o amor, tudo era mais bonito. 💖 Sou de 1953, adoro este gênero de música. Muito obrigada por postar estes videos encantadores. Bravoooooo🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Glad internet was made to get into this type of music. I can imagine how many songs were made and didn't have the chance to see light not even a one bit.
And I'm glad the internet are trying to restore them
Blues In The Night! My mother used to sing this, but she never told me the name of the song and she passed away before I was enough of a music fan to ask. Now I finally know! I've never heard the whole song before. Thank you so much!
How can music take you back to a time that you weren't even alive for? Doesn't matter, it just does and in this quarantined world we exist in now, I'm more than ready for some time travel. Good stuff, good - good stuff right here!!! 😊
Good reply time traveler. Enjoying your visits.
PERHAPS YOU DID LIVE IN THAT TIME AS ANOTHER PERSON.
hello everyone with good taste in music :D
For 50 years you could only find all these artists if that's your passion or by chance by scrolling radio stations. Now here they are, still as fresh as day one, it's almost like they're sharing their woes with you over a drink.
I´m 15, and i love this music. I fell totally different species but I love my taste in musiccccc
To be perfectly honest, aside from the segregation, racism, the great depression during that time, I'd give anything to go back in time to that era. Vintage clothes, cheap cigars, classy music, what a dream
I remember when I used to dance around to this in clubs back in the 30s...those were the days
Those were the days my friend we'd thought they'd never end we'd sing and dance forever and a day
Huh
Чудова, надихаюча музика, відразу натякає на вечірній Львів 20-х років!) Regards from Ukraine
My quarantine is better enjoying this wonder, April 2020.
With a Glass of wine it is even better
Same, working gets calmer when listening to the music from an era I wasn't born into. Takes me away to a special place that my soul misses...~sigh~
@@gabii95 Idem!
It was gorgeous 100 years ago and it will be gorgeous a thousand years from now. And beyond.
It's definitely calming the nerves, even in the midst of chaos.
i bet those were the good days. You HAD to talk to people face to face and actually have true, genuine conversations.
People pass on but the music of their times remain.
Came here after watching Boardwalk Empire. Great music.
When I'm in a decadent mood I listen to blues, light my joint and pour me a glass of rum... And i let life take the best of off me. I let all the pain flow through the river of life...
That sounds like my kind of evening. Add a good book and I'm set.
The more we listen to Perfect past, the more now gets Perfect, so we hope the future also is perfect cause we don´t want any problems when we live forever.
If this didn’t tickle and make you smile,
you is broken!!!
I GREW UP IN THE SIXTIES AND I HAD LIVED IN MY GRANDPARENTS HOME AND THEY HAD A UPRIGHT PHILCO RADIO I HAD PLAYED ALOT SEVENTY EIGHTS ON IT AND I HAD EVEN REALLY CALLED IT THE OLD WOODEN JUKEBOX AND I HAD PLAYED ALOT OF THE EARLY FORTY-FIVES ON THAT OLD FORTIES ERA RECORD PLAYER AND MANY OF THEM BLUE'S SONGS ON THERE AND MANY OF THEM IS NOW ON HERE AND IT SURE HAS TRULY BROUGHT BACK SOME GOOD MEMORIES MADE BACK THEN AND THANKS FOR SHARING THESE AMAZING SONGS ON HERE AND MANY THANKS AGAIN FOR THIS VERY GOOD MUSIC OF DAYS NOW GONE BY
OK! It dose not matter what age you are, if you are thirteen or late sixties. All that matters is that you came here, and that this is your preferred musical taste. And, it dose not matter also if you like or dislike this type of music normally. Yet again, you are here, and you enjoy it. So why don't we just enjoy it together along with the kindness of the person who made this video!
Beautiful works
Ya ,isn't it great!

Music played and sung by proper Musicians. Thank you
Good morning BLUES... 🤘🤘🤘
My dad's a jazz musician and I grew up listening to this music, and going to see him play at the Old Duke pub in Bristol. Brilliant music, full of life and joy amidst all the blues. What really makes me happy is to see the number of young people commenting here on how much they like this music. Makes me feel there's hope for this world, don't know why, perhaps it's seeing so many kids thinking for themselves and enjoying the good stuff, because this is the real deal...
The reason we still listen to this is because the MUSIC is as good as it gets! So much emotion in every word, such apreciation for the instruments, such a feeling... thank you so much past generations =)
Musica meravigliosa .Era da tempo che non ascoltavo un bel Blues. Grazie
Takes me to my childhood, my dad grew up in the depression and to survive he and his family survived by playing barn dances so this is what I grew up listening to, also he played for Shakeys Pizza Parlor a chain restaurant in America that had an American 1900's theme with red and white striped jackets and straw hats of that era. They showed silent films like Charlie Chaplin and such, my dad would play for the movies his banjo or piano some of these songs or Scott Joplin rag style songs, lots of memories.
The beauty of this music makes me know i trully have an old soul! Sitting on the porch on my rocker chair with so good ol sweet tea while enjoying a cool evening breeze...😊😊😊
I always feel like something is wrong with me in the fact that I don't like any modern music across the board! I can't feel it but this session has been so refreshing to my ears and my soul! I cleaned my house nearly floating on the good vibes
Nothing's wrong with you! To me, its weirder to think there's people who don't like this music. But well, they can like what they want, and the same with you. Honestly this music gives me a lot of joy and good vibes, i like your taste in music
(Oh and btw sorry if i mispelled any of that, im not a native speaker😅)
Same me too🤸🏽♀️
People in that day were happy and satisfied.
We live in New Orleans, the birth place of this style of music. It is still played and loved here. Check out the band "Tuba Skinny." Young musicians from NOLA paying this music!
yes, Shay Cohn and the band, they are real. Only for real lovers, her father and granddad were known jazz musicians.
We’ve enjoyed them a time or two on Royal...👍👍⚜️⚜️
This makes me want to dress up as a charleston dancer and dance all day. The good side of quarantine
The Summers won't be as good but at least have the music and the nature to keep us calm through out the hot days by the lake
Jesus this is truly great music. I miss those times... even if i never saw them
I was in a club in Paris right after the war. American music played on the jukebox. Beers were a nickel. Sometimes that feels like a lifetime ago. Sometimes it feels like yesterday. TJ OBUADHAIGH.

you don't say.....
My grandparents were born in the 1990s, and my father was born in 1920. This music helps me remain connected with my parents and grandparents. I do miss them. I wonder what the world will be like when I am an old man.
1990?
It makes me miss my parents. They were of this era. 😿

The collection gives you a feeling like being there! Some of the songs are around 90 years old, and still sound beautiful.
101 años y esta maravillosa música me hace viajar y sentir q estoy en esos lugares disfrutandola en vivo. En 2021 todavía hay gente que disfrutan la buena música de grandes artistas.

I want to live in this beautiful era so bad :(((( im 20 btw
wish we could go back in time when we could go to clubs and dance without care what people think. Those days if you dance at certains clubs people think you must be drunk. Sad people
Yesssss I love this so much! ♥️ I know things were quite tough back in those days but I would have loved to been in New Orleans at that time to listen to music like this.
...for me this is treading through the soil of my roots...born 1951; this material is certainly before my time...I LOVE IT
listening to Jazz may be the best way to let myself focus on readings. so relaxing!
Living the blues .
Now I can stay home to listen to this wonderful music with my eyes closed n let the musical energy flow through my body, wonderful n great n soothing,
I listened to this kind of music all my life! My Dad built his hifi receiver from a kit that was shipped to him in the early 1950s. The turntable was sitting on a wood box. He had to make that. Two AR speakers. Stacked in the corner of our huge basement. He insisted on a live ceiling. No paneling. I could blast these LPs. Now I live in the same house. So I created my own sound system. Pioneer 80watts per channel. Bowers& Wilkins speakers. (2). Plus 1 mid range and 2 others. 5 speakers. So I play this LP from CZcams. It makes me feel terrific!
all the music snobs who sneer their nose at younger people getting introduced to this music through videogames! wtf? you should be happy they help this music spread and pass down through the generations! and the games mentioned are works of art themselves! and marry well to this music! so swallow that!
shane kennedy Don't worry about those people. We should ostracize them from society for such behavior.
shane kennedy i love this music from a game (fallout4)
shane kennedy and i'm 16
Shane, that's a fantastic point. How else would anyone under the age of 16 ever be exposed to this music..? Not only exposure, but it's exposure within a preferred context. The gamers will already have a positive connection due to their love of gaming allied to this wonderful music.
Bloody good point. I'm a 49yr old gamer [EvE Online 2004-] myself and heartily welcome any an all gamers via which ever game to this wonderful age and genre of Blues.
