Hey Dressage Superstar, I am going to answer the question - How do you do a really good walk pirouette?
So, the aides for the pirouette are obviously you want the shoulders to turn. So how do you get the shoulders to turn? You use your outside rein to move the shoulders around.

Ive had 4 rides on my boy. He's doing great. I learned shoulder in and the uses for it. It's a dressage move yes for building shoulders and balance but also to teach a horse to keep looking at you and make it easier to turn them if they bolt or try to get away from you.

I was working on pirouettes this week so this was a great help to troubleshoot the hind end swinging I was getting. Thanks!

Thanks for breaking down what each hand and leg is doing. I learned the "bicycle" method of steering for like ten years, so my brain is still having trouble understanding what each independent aid is communicating to the horse. I also really appreciated your physically demonstrating how things can go wrong, it's super helpful!

Howdy, Tasha! Great video as always. I was very amazed at the pirouette! I grew up around Western Pleasure/Trail riding. I've never seen that before, and you left me in awe!! I'm used to watching a pivot in Reigning Competition, I also see a bit of difference between the two. The pirouette looked more like making a small circle as the rear legs crossed and the front legs made a wider circle as the shoulders were qued to go around! Do I have that observation correct? Any help on understanding it in more detail, I would appreciate it.
BTW can I send you pictures and one video of me in a Dressage saddle. I've been wanting? It's an Albion Legend 5000 Dressage saddle; it was made in 1997, it's Medium-Wide tree, and it's an 18 inch seat! Also it is very comfortable to sit in, it looks like it's seen a lot of use, but also very well taken care of! If that's okay? I'd love to send you the photos!
