No one could of played Captain Hastings better then Hugh Fraser..Great bond between David Suchet and Hugh..Just love him
Totally agree
Grammar??
"Could have" or "could've," NOT "could of."
@@detectivefiction3701 illiterates…
Hugh Fraser is is the best - bar none- narrator of books EVER. I just adore his readings. So so so talented in doing the different characters . You cant believe that all those voices are coming out of one person. I am such a devoted fan.💕💕💕❤
I one hundred percent agree; right now, I'm going through "The Hollow" and it's one of the best narrations of a Christie novel I've had the pleasure of experiencing, except of course... for his narration of "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd", where the first person perspective of Dr. Sheppard allows him to turn in a performance par excellence! Just unforgettable. There's nobody better for a book that requires distinct characters and subtle, telling changes in tone and affect.
He can open a mind so it visualizes with his voice and show a feeling with just a look of his eyes when on video. Supremely talented in communication. He invites me into a film or book until I’m involved, as if I’m one of the actors. Magical fellow.
I love Captain Hastings just as much as Hercule Poirot! Both are some of the greatest, most beloved people and characters on television. Wishing them continued good health and good luck😍💖
Agatha Christie fictionalized the character of Arthur Hastings in the books, but only Hugh Fraser humanized it like no other.
I loved he when he exclaimed, "I say...".
Hugh Fraser, is so professional and debonair. Wonderful actor, for Poirot.
I so love the original Poirot with Captain Hastings and Miss Lemon.
Yes i agree excellent
Hugh Fraser is a brilliant actor, he has a fabulous voice, I love listening to Reading Agatha Christie's Poirot
Philomena Gil Yes, He has a such good voice and did excellent job as a narrator Christie’s novels as well!
no one better. For anything. Ever.
I love hearing Hasting say "Good Lord"
me too
Still looking handsome 😍 and debonair! And so charming, too. AND a musician!!
Thank you for posting this! 🙏
I absolutely love him!! A series without Hastings is incomplete
This man has my whole heart
A lovely lovely man so modest and humble
An unbelievablely talented actor
Thank you for bringing out the many facets of this diamond of a man.
That was a brilliant little interview, to hear a bit more about Captain Hastings and the set-up of Poirot... But also, to hear more about Hugh Fraser himself.
He narrates many audio books and is brilliant. In the Poirot ones he portrays both parts and you would think it was David Suchet.
In fact there are times I actually prefer his portrayal of Poirot in the audiobooks. Amazing man 🙂
The cast of Hercule Poirot series was perfectly spot on. I have watch those episodes all over again several times and it doesn't bother me that I remember how the story goes and how it ends, I just love the series. Good Lord what an series it is.
I came on board late, I didn't even know Poirot, I'm 61 now and I think I first saw an episode in rerun around 2010, I was hooked immediately, David and Hugh and Japps characters were amazing, I loved that era of English proper speech and treating others respectfully, I know life wasn't exactly like that, but it brought out the best in human nature, intelligence, clever, witty, charming, it's so enjoyable even today watching the shows over and over, great acting, production, wardrobe, scenery, trains.🙏😁
Amen.well said.
Such a sweet, self-effacing man! Full of grace and elegance.
Love him. Class personified. Hi from Toronto Ontario Canada. X.
His audiobook acting has made Hugh Fraser my favorite actor!
Dear Hugh Fraser. A man who has read me stories as I slip off to sleep for many years now (I have nightmares, so like to have something to feel 'safe going in with'!). He always seems like such a lovely, ordinary but cultured, gentle man. Him being married to the equally delightful Belinda Lang for nearly 40 years makes me believe he must be such a nice chap in real life. Narrating audiobooks is harder work than we might think, I treasure the Agatha Christies narrated by him.
Great question about all the voices. He did such a wonderful job of reading Christie’s books.
I didn’t know about the audio 😯🇦🇺
@@marilyntape508 some might well be available on CZcams, but I got a good number of them through our library system. I just love audiobooks, and Hugh Frazer is a wonderful reader/narrator. So is David Suchet, by the way; and of course Joan Hickson for the Miss Marple stories. 😍🤩
There are many of them on youtube. Just enter Poirot AND audiobook
Thank you so much, Mr Fraser, for your perfect and marvelous portrayal of Capt Hastings.
I have discovered Hugh Fraser's absolutely superb narrations of Poirot audiobooks this past year... the best reader I've ever heard, even more than David Suchet. An amazing talent! Really helped me get through the pandemic months. Many thanks, Hugh.
I adore all audiobooks of Poirot read by Hugh. Hugh is amazing!
I have always enjoyed watching Hugh Fraser perform in the Poirot series, but I also love listening to his audiobook series. He has such a soothing and subtle voice such that he can speak the parts for multiple characters and it will sound convincing. I often find myself thinking how does he do that; being able to trick my ears into believing the words are from different characters and yet I intellectually know it is the voice of one man.
I love the episode where Hastings comes back from the Argentine with that crocodile-type think and happily gives it to Poirot!
Hugh Fraser is a good actor with his body, but with his voice he's extra great. He could read a telephone book and I would listen with pleasure.
I cry when I see these characters.
I am a huge fan of every actor linked to the superb Poirot and I am overjoyed to learn Hugh Fraser wrote Rainbow 🌈..... made by day
he worked with john Leeson on Doctor Who audio
Hugh … A National Treasure 💯❗️
Thank you so much to Hugh Fraser for is fantastic interpretation of Captain Hastings. It's pure delight.
Thank you for this delightful interview. I am an audiobook listener from way back when they were on cassettes at the library. For the past at least 10 years, I listen to Hugh Fraser EVERY night. Mostly the Poirot books, but Mr. Fraser's also. I love his Relaxation audiobook. I am always impressed with the range of voices he can do. You always know who is speaking!!! Man or woman. He can narrate the most grisly scenes in a voice that is still soothing, though not losing the horror of the story. . (Halloween Party, for example).
His character is the loviest human being ever. Such a kind heart.
And he certainly has a beautiful voice.
Simply superb 👏👏👏
I can't watch a Poirot episode that does not include Captain Hastings
Me too
@@kdr1895 me to
Me also😼🇦🇺
Actually, I think I even prefer Hastings than Poirot... Crime stories centered on Hastings would be very nice :-)
i think that why the series dipped after a number of years really that no more Japp, Hastings but some of the storylines didn't include them but there's always an inspector. Three Act Tradegy film does have Captain Hastings and Dead Mans Folly with Peter Ustinov so. Hugh Fraser famous for his Agatha Christie's audiobook. the Best for me though i do like Nigel Hawthorne's narration of Murder In The Mews.
Great interview! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Christie's books narrated by Mr Hugh Fraser!!!
Thank you for many enjoying hours of Captain Hastings ❤️❤️❤️👍🇨🇦
Our pleasure! Don;t forget to subscribe for more content :)
@@fantomonlineDone 💝💯❗️
Namaste Hugh🙏🏾
I certainly remember your flabbergasted "Well... I..". Your smile and clear blue eyes certainly were proper for Suchet's Poirot.
This was a great production. No better movie or series of Agatha Christie’s character. Everything was perfect!
My favourite reader! Just love Mr. Fraser ❤️
I always remember him as the Duke of Wellington together with David Troughton.
I adore poirot and David Sutchet, but captain Hastings was like a spoonful of sugar, such sweetness and kindness and loyalty, most episodes I just wanted to hug him, especially in the ABC murders when he's trying to tell his Cedric story, and the big four when he marches bravely off to bring poirot justice, I just adore him 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😃💞👍🇦🇺⭐️.
She’s an absolute stunner
You’re too easily stunned, mon ami
I appreciate Hugh Fraser' s reading of the Stories so much. To me He does it best. It s always a pleasure to Listen to him. Best man. 👍
Really enjoyed the interview. Think Hugh Fraser is so good as Capt. Hastings.
Oh Hastings your walk was so cool. It had a bop, cool swag. Your clothes fitted impeccably. Thank you for all the series. Loved them all. Peace and Blessings 🌟
And he could do comedy just with his eyes. Such a face.
Yes, a large part of his role in "Poirot" was standing around and looking debonair, and he did this superbly.
I will miss them so much both and all the cast just wonderful they all worked so well together .bless them l hope they will be happy in what ever they do in there life l wish them all lots of health happiness and luck .❤️
David-Poirot is a great person and great actor. We dont forget Capten Hasitngs and aders. Love You
I hope Mr. Fraser knows how much he is loved both as Hastings and the narrator of Agatha Christie’s works on audiobooks
Hugh Frazier great actor, fantastic narrator and voice over reader of novels.
I like you say “ Good Lord” in Poirot, Battler~
or "I say"
Or "old chap"
Rather!
❤ you Hugh Fraser the very best actor and such a grand voice listen to all of your narrations!!!
Always interesting to hear from a true professional actor, who just goes to work each day, does his job with craftmanship and flair, takes off his makeup and goes home. As an aside, I have to say, re Christie's characterizations, that her 'economy' is more due to using charicatures and tropes, as opposed to drawing full-figured people. No question she's the Goddess of Plots, but just because someone's really good at one thing, doesn't mean they do everything well. These stories are nearly 100 years old, and so are not comparable to the more literary mystery writing of later decades. Salure to Mr. Fraser! I just loved how he could get this pure innocence in his expression, clueless about being clueless.
Hugh Fraser, a truly lovely man. Watching this I realized that the books he wrote might have been transformed into Phryne Fisher’s murder mysteries. Which ran a large series both in books and TV. I wonder if the spirit of Agatha kept writing through Hugh Fraser and then the author of Phryne. Because her stories are very similar in flavor to Agatha’s earlier books.
Hugh Fraser best narrator🙂
Such a lovely man. Love him very much.
It's like these roles / characters were made for these 2:
David Suchet as Hercule Poirot
and
Hugh Frasier as Capt. Arthur Hastings.
Lovely chap.
If Hugh doesn’t much watch his Captain Hastings portrayal he’s missing a genius actor. Those looks, those eyes, that blank look, the look when the light goes on , his instantaneous falling in love with a beautiful woman. I say!
I've never served in military.
But I do know two captains extremely well, even though they've never heard of me.
Captain John Hamish Watson
Captain Arthur Hastings
In addition, two memorable and exceptional police officers from the Scotland Yard
Chief Inspector Greg Lestrade
Chief Inspector James Japp
Therefore, I'm deeply grateful to two gentlemen
Mike Stanford
John Calvindish
I know he did 'Murder on the Bluebell Line' with Ronald Fraser as Watson, but I so wished he'd made more Holmes serials. He was the spitting image of Sidney Paget's original illustrations. Of course, with Brett making such an incredible fist of the role, there may have been some reluctance from other TV companies to commit...
I love Hastings!!!!
I love him when he do the tandem Poirot/Hastings with David Suchet, as Captain Hastings!
I do love him❤❤❤❤ he is brilliant ❤❤❤
I love the poirot series but my bf not , he loved all the Hastings car talk and his character
You both are so sweet !
I have come to appreciate Hugh Fraser as Captain Hastings more and more over the years.
To me, as a non-Brit and not having English as my first language, he epitomizes an Englishman.
And he is just and excellent story reader.
Mr Fraser is Captain Hastings. In the US, I enjoyed the Christie mystery series. The series made me a Christie fan that I've read all of the books I can get my hands on. Now, I can enjoy the audiobooks read by Mr Fraser. I is appreciate his work. Thank you
Such a nice man and cant think of a better Hasting
Hugh Hilarious. Brilliant actor
Amen. His comedic style is brilliant. Always makes me giggle.
Not to be dramatic, but I would die for this man.
Love the way Hugh Fraser faultlessly read the Christie book PASSENGER FROM FRANKFURT, and managed to take on all the different voices and accents of each of the characters.
Marvellous.
what a charming man !
I'm in love with Captain Hastings😍😀
Gosh often wondered about him soooooo pleased to see this brilliant witch Parrio
Love Hugh Fraser.
And a fabulous narrator of books too.
Love Hugh😊
I say... it's Captain Hastings, good Lord!
Hugh Fraser as Hastings reminds me of my grandad. He looks really similar and has that really optimistic always happy attitude as well as perhaps not being the brightest. Its one of the reasons i love the series so much.
Not being the brightest? Hastings had his smarter moments.
@@therespectedlex9794 When?
@@In-hoc-signo-vinces Just you watch it all again, you'll see.
@@therespectedlex9794 i've watched them all well over 15 times and read the books. I have it on all the time while i'm working or doing something. Hercule makes a point to make fun, lightly, that Hastings always comes to the wrong conclusions or misses the obvious; he even does it in the last letter he writes to him.
And this isn't me hating on the character, i love him as a character. His virtues are his morals, bravery, integrity and his notion of fairness. Not his intelligence, not that i've seen anyway.
So if you could point to me where you mean i might be able to understand, thanks.
Ah, cher ami. I'm a big fan. I grew up with Hastings in my life, he was such an entertaining and inspiring character. Hugh Fraser is one the actors that inspired me to try my hand at acting. I hope he and Suchet do another Poirot movie together.
Hugh fraser is absolutely excellent as captain hastings he is absolutely excellent
I’m binge watching your content recently, excellent stuff and THANK YOU 🙏🥰
"I say" and good lord! ❤
I ❤ him
Best of British
lighting boys, Lighting !!!!!
lots with love from indonesia captain hasting
Love you
a very fine actor.
you are great Marianna Jansson
They could make the one last episode in 2023
I think it would have been neat to see ITV undertake faithful episodes of all of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories with Mr. Fraser as Sherlock Holmes and Philip Jackson as John Watson. Oh, and David Suchet as their nemesis Professor Moriarty.
Hugh Fraser’s voice is a gift from God. His audiobooks are wonderful. He should be knighted for services to insomniacs ❤
I wish he had been asked what it was like being in The Draughtsman's Contract.
I say, it’s Captain Hastings!
❤❤❤❤❤
Hugh Fraser audiobooks of Agatha Christie series, does Poirot better than Suchet
Is Hugh Fraser any relation to Sir Paul McCartney? Has anyone else noticed a resemblance?
The first time I saw Hugh Fraser was as the Duke of Wellington on the Sharpe series with Sean Bean so I was a little surprised when Poirot came around and he played Captain Hastings. I thought he was too good looking to play Hastings but he did a great job and now I when I think of Hastings, I see Hugh Fraser. I also listen to audio books and his Poirot is so good. In fact, in my opinion, although David Suchet is the quintessential Poirot on the screen, Hugh Fraser's audio rendition is superior to that of David Suchet.
