In this very short video I showcase the "new", large, rechargeable USB-C battery for the Baofeng UV-5R ham radio and the newer UV5R GMRS version - not only the UV-5R but this USBC battery will also work with any other amateur radio that used a standard BL-5 sized battery (thats the battery that comes on the UV-5R) - So you can also use this USB-C battery with the Baofeng BF-F8HP ham radio, the UV-5X3 ham radio, the UV-5RTP, and the Baofeng UV-5R+ - NOTE that his battery does NOT work with the new Baofeng UV-5G+ GMRS radio, because the UV-5G Plus does not use the BL-5 sized Baofeng battery.
Basically.. This is a higher capacity rechargeable battery for your Baofeng, that you can charge directly via USB-C

As a retired firefighter I cant help but thank you for enlightening the CZcamsr world of the availability of this wondrous product. The demands placed upon our local Fire departments increase everyday. Given the popularity of the UV 5R I can only imagine how busy my comrades are extinguishing fires from the hazardous chargers. So not only is this battery going to reduce Fire department call volume, It will help reduce injuries and loss of life, help lower insurance rates, reduce the need to pay deductibles etc.... but most importantly, it will reduce interruptions of firefighters very import recliner training. Thank you for your service to the community and my brothers! Im going to order 4 tomorrow!

ps- the large battery tends to stabilize the performance of my own UV5R style radios. I used to reset the radios about once an hour on trail due to noise, and/or poor receive. Now... not at all.

I have the older version of that battery (2 of them) that use an odd USB-to-barrel-connecter charger cable. They last for freaking ever on a charge. That said, I might buy these to replace those, just to not have to keep track of one weird charging cable.

nice battery. I got one several months ago. they also have a standard small battery with USB C charge. the larger UV 5R+ type takes a different battery but USB C as well. so if you have the bigger one with color display get the correct battery.

I have the UV-5R PLUS and I bought that ‘long’ 7.4v battery last year and love it…that is UNTIL I saw yours with the USB-C charging port on it!…mine has that funky charging port on the battery with that pin-looking doo-dadd in the middle. I’m not gonna spend more money for a battery like yours bc I can still use the crappy desk mount charger. I rarely talk on my HTs anyway…I talk on my Inrico T-320 network radio or my DV SWITCH on my phone….when I’m using my base RF radio it’s the WOUXUN KG1000g Plus. This battery can be easily charged with an inexpensive solar panel designed to charge cellphones. This is a affordable why to keep your Baufeng charged up while camping or during an emergency.
I already have one of those larger batteries but it's the old version with a barrel jack at the top, I opened it up and there's plenty of free space inside, in theory you could add a 2s lithium charger with usb jack to have a battery similar to yours. I wonder if the smaller batteries have space for a charger, those are glued better and I don't wanna destroy them by prying them open.

already upgraded all my batteries to usbc a few weeks ago, some are the small ones now usbc, wasnt sure "about" how long ago they came out...
What a great upgrade battery, with the USB C plug. It would be Mo Better, if it was along the side, so the radio can stand up.
But, can you operate the radio, while the battery is being charged?
(Its crazy though, that you can buy a brand new radio w/ a battery, for what a spare battery costs!)

For older style batteries, I keep looking for some kind of little strap-on rubber cradle thingy with a USB-C port for charging. One of these days... somebody will figure it out.
those have existed for a long while, most are 3D printed designs some being sold online (not a fan however due to most being technically stolen designs) but stuff works. I've been using a 3d printed design customized myself which just snaps onto bottom of any radio with similar form and charging mechanism as UV5R and allows USB C, Micro and Wireless charging using just a cheap 3$ charging board with two wires going to the battery's bottom terminals
