Awesome, Tony's Riffs with Sharon on Mandolin... That haunting melody! Miss Tony..what a picker...
Excellent and brilliant player guy 👏👏👏👏
Bryan Davies rocks the foundation and Tony dances all over it. Lovely.
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music💯💋
I don't know if there's ever been a bluegrass quartet any better than this one.
Most are Quartets, but yeah, Mighty Fine!
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music🙏💯💋
You mean a GoofGrass Quartet.
This quartet just has Magic! RIP Tony, you are missed.
Time cannot dim the brilliance of a performance like that.
Dim, they should of turned the Lights Off.
I was in the vault(just looking things over and tidying up) and there this tape was calling out my name.
Thanks for sharing.
Ive never seen it. Tony wasn't showing his age in this one. Looking good and sounding great!
Rest in sweet everlasting peace, Tony.
Those two ladies jam!
Bluegrass meets Jazz. Fantastic. Thanks for posting here.
I'm a bit late hearing your music on youtube , but it was worth the wait .What a classy version of "Shady Grove".Such a musical treat.Ka pai koutou !
Best version and best lineup yet,
The best version have the lyrics.
I am a music lover and hate to label tunes but Jazz/Bluegrass. Absolutely delightful . Thanks for posting here!!
Thanks for posting this...give us more please !
These Vids were from 2006 yet look how they felt the music that's flat out bad ass...
Magnanimous instrumentalism!!!!! Thank you!
Tony at his best! And perfect supporting band
Hate to be a downer... watch some of his stuff from the 70's, 80's and into the 90's. The dude was on fire and one of the better baritone voices on the acoustic scene as well!
The bass just made me smile
Wow those ladies are good!! Especially the Mandolin Player😉😉😉
Gorgeous courageous contagious
This is best bluegrass I know. The impro by Tony... far out. I can't do this...
The Maestro Rest Easy my friend love you Tony...
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music😎🤣💕
Thank you Pete I’m a lifelong fan since a kid dads band did all the Old and in the Way stuff and our band plays Old Sante Fe and Wild Mustang as our encore!
@@patoboyle3279 Wow sounds interesting to me, have you ever been to any of my concerts my true fan ??
I’m a 15 year Merlefest veteran!
I’ve met you twice my friend
Seen you at Moonlight Gardens in Cincinnati with Sam Bush and in
Dayton Oh several times. On a personal note the song You Were There For Me is very dear to my heart our guitar player passed away from cancer and we played that song for him as we sent him off yonder …
Love you brother
@@patoboyle3279 I would love to honor you a private conversation with you if that’s ok with you
I shouldn't say this. This song excellently rips. But there is something about Bryn Davies that makes me feel like a 11 year old boy that is just learning about the "birds and the bees" .Thanks Peter. Your. Music is incredible.
That was Sharon Gilchrist for me. I got to meet this group in NYC I think the year of this video. When I met Sharon I FROZE up like I was in middle school asking a girl out for the first time.
Bryn is so sexy...
3:38 is what putting a cherry on the top of greatness looks like.
Yes! Even dug the bass solo after that.
Over here (the UK) that the tune to a song known as "Matty Groves" or in an older version, "Little Musgrave" and dates from the late 16th or very early 17th century.
I remember Doc Watson recording it as "Matty Groves". Thanks for the reminder.
It’s a haunting melody that comes from deep within our past.
Thanks Derik!
Jazzy! 💕
I know the word genius is used too often nowadays but really sometimes it fits.
Not here.
A Genius would of been able to sing the song while playing.
@@scottarnold6528 what’s your favorite imagine dragons song and how many times a week do you eat mcdonalds? Let me know, thanks.
perfect
Very special.
Hard to believe its been 14 years already
I've been saying that a lot lately. I saw Peter Rowan opening for Bobby and the Midnites at Dobson Ice Arena in Vail, CO on January 18, 1982. 40 years ago!
@@LessThanFaceProductions1 Yeah Rowans been at it a long long time.
@@LessThanFaceProductions1 I saw Peter Rowan fronting Seatrain at Clearwater, Fla in the summer of 1971, Richard Greene on fiddle, one of the best live concerts I've ever seen. The breeze blowing off the surf, the palm trees and the comely lasses swaying, pretty close to paradise.
@@jeffgaumond4250Richard Greene is so amazing. Go back and listen to the studio version of Waltz For Indira. His fiddle portion of the tune makes me want to cry sometimes.
🔥🔥🔥
Peter Rowan put together some band, two hot bluegrass babes + Tony Rice.
Up move Mi generalz
With the death of Tony Rice, Peter Rowan is one of the few left. RIP.😕

Keep It Between the Lines🎶
@@joestephan1111 How long have you been a fan and have you been to any of my concerts ?
@@peterrowan6330
Since the beginning but have never had the privilege of a show live.
Started today with one of your songs.
God like
God has better Turds 💩 then what I just watched.
Who is the chick on mandolin? I can't tell who she is with the sunglasses on. She's kickass.
The inestimable Sharon Gilchrist.
Sharon is certainly The Americana female mandolinist !
Smoking hot mandolin playing and smoking hot mandolin player

All you have to know is the name "Tony rice"....and you are good to go.
Great sound, but it sure wasn’t close to “Shady Grove”
What do you think that it is Dave?
@@LessThanFaceProductions1 Maybe a mash up of Brubeck's "Take Five"? It sure is not "Shady Grove" but is sure sounds great.
@@davidflaa2730 if you made it to 1:40 in the video, I think you would recognize Shady Grove. It's got a bit of an extended intro, but they definitely make it to Shady Grove.
@@michaelcarrothers5646 I have to say that was one hell of an "extended intro" but, I do hear what sounded like "Shady Grove". I still think it's a stretch to name a 5 and a half minute song for a few seconds of an old classic. What ever they want to call it, it just is great music.
I'm fairly new to bluegrass but isn't that the point of most every performance? There's a song and then the musicians get to riff on it. I can certainly hear the tune in every solo after that intro.
Super Bassist....and I see Peter is not suffering from arthritis..citrus bioflavanoids are a sure cure,
Was he before?
I missed the lyrics. I was concentrating too much on that girl playing bass & how goofy she looked.
Then the old guy (In the Black leather.) turned his guitar away from the Mike & you could hear her playing.
Good thing it only lasted a minute (Goofed out like she was in a Real Rock band with an electric bass doing a solo.) before her goofy beat was drowned out.
And why did that old man yell out after like it sounded good or something.
You really don't know what you're talking about 😂
@@soulsoundstudio
But, I've listened to many versions and this one is by far the worst.
The Goofy Girl doesn't help your case neither.
