Doc Watson has known David Grisman since the latter was a teenager stunning veteran performers at New York City folk clubs in the 1960s. Aside from the pleasures of picking with an old friend, the reward of playing with Grisman is simple: "He knows music," Doc says, "That's your nutshell answer. He knows what it's about."
Coming from a master musician for whom the gift of music is the only reason worth leaving the sweet comforts of family and home, that is the highest praise. In this unique concert video Doc and David with their friend Jack Lawrence present their unique blend of country, jazz, bluegrass and folk-music.

I'd rate this 6 stars. Doc, Jack, and David are the tonal-pickin trio. Too good
That little interlude at 2:46 blows me away every time. Some seriously rich melodic interplay there. I love how strong this all is. Doc and Jack laying it down, David getting right in there. Grisman is not shy about stepping up when he feels the music intensifying. His rhythm under the vocals on the last verse/chorus shows that. It doesn't matter that his intensity increases and ride over the verse into the chorus, it's where the music is going and it all moves as one 2:23.
Sorry to cherry-pick here, I love it all, saw Doc several times, grateful forever for that. Drink from the well whenever you can,..

To Mr Redwing90, Three masters. Dawg and Doc are a given however Jack Lawrence delivers inspired and intriguing guitar colour, so tasteful as is how way and talent.

Wonderful work by all concerned. Stefan, if I didn't say so before, those weeks and months watching your videos & tackling tab quite a few years ago was hard (though never "painful") work but the rewards have made it more than worthwhile. As for Doc, he's still the best flat-picker, period.
