As far as Superman getting dressed, he's always changed clothes before a fight, we’ve just never seen a still-frame of him doing it because he's so fast.
He might have a kink in his sock, but it only takes one millionth of a second to adjust.
My biggest beef is the "S," and the shoulders look like armor.
I prefer this "S" because it is not supposed to look like a letter S exactly. I like this one better than the S on henry's suit. But I prefer the way Henry's suit looks over this one, but I have to wait for more photos of this suit before I cry about it.

i think the problem with this picture is the composition. it comes of as if someone just took photoshop and slapped something together at the last minute. the individual parts look okay, but the whole thing is just strange. I would call this a hicup at the marketing department. let´s wait and see what the movie does.
I have never been a fan of the collar myself but I can personally appreciate the bright color palette, & dig the trunks.

So i'm probably your oldest viewer; just turned 65. Let me add my voice to the choir, your cosplay walk up is amazing!! Take care and please keep up the great work!
Superman looks like he's more concerned about his microwaved burrito finishing up than saving the city.

Traditionally he changed his clothes completely inside of phone booths.
That being said, the biggest vibe I get from this picture is an "Astro City" Samaritan feeling - exhausted, but the work is important and the world won't save itself.
He couldn't find a phone booth in current year so he had to change clothes in his bedroom.
It just looks like he's about to patrol the city as he always does. So he's not in any rush because it doesn't look like there's anything to be done.....YET. So he isn't super speeding the change of clothes. People are bitching like little children for nothing.

My biggest axe to grind is the Kingdom Come shield being used on this suit.

I think if he stands up it’ll look much better but we will have to wait and see. It’s good to keep in mind that this is a younger superman so as he will develop in the dcu I’m sure his suit will change.
Just an aside from a male who has been athletic for some time. The Briefs/shorts are not "undies on the outside", so much as wearing a layer that keeps the boys in check. Just like with the costume you're wearing, most dancers/skaters, etc. wear a skirt so that they are NOT putting it all out there, and women have much less chance of accidentally letting more be seen than guys do, as you never know what might pop up at any given time. So there are practical reasons for the shorts/skirts. Just as my Anthropology Prof would argue that belts are important to separate the higher self from the lower self.

Superman is dressing so fast that is micro split second shot of him getting ready to go out.
I was very unclear with my post. I actually like the suit, very enthusiastic. What I have concerns about is Supes calmly getting dressed while Metropolis gets melted by a heat ray. So if it's just a studio promotional shot, no problem. It's a BIG problem if it's like that in the movie, though.@@ettcha

It looks more practical and military styled.Superhero costumes are less shiny and more soldier themed nowadays. Look at the mcu costumes. Even wolverine new costume followed it

Here is the Deal , James Gunn had already created a ton of bad will when he fired Henry Cavill. Then he hired David Corenswet who is Henry Cavill light . Then he promised that Superman would be what David Zaslav wanted a Hopeful and upbeat Superman. So you tell me whats Hopefull and Upbeat about this photo. He looks like the guy that sittng on the edge a his bed in a E.D commercial. The Fans are only going to give him one shot the get this movie right .So For the first reveal Gunn should have came out the gate trying hard to win the fans over by putting Cornswet in a classic costume and in a dramatic superheroic pose That makes him look like the second coming of Christpher Reeve

I've doubted Gunn before and he has impressed me with every release. The fact that we get our hopes up so high and then get the usual DC horrible thrown together garbage has made us wounded and hypercritical.

I really need James Gunn to return to a theme song for Superman. To this day, the theme song from the Christopher Reeves movie still gets me fucking psyched. None of the characters in the past DCEU had one, and it stuck out to me.

This Superman really just looks to me like someone laboriously getting ready to do a job he low-key hates. Like he resents the dress code. That probably won't be the vibe of the movie but it's definitely what I get from the image.

@@jingleballs9935 Well there's always room for improvement, Christian Bale and Andrew Garfield didn't start off with their best suits in their first movies but got massive improvements in their next outings. If his suit is ok looking and the rest of the movie is great (the acting, story, action, score), then it won't really matter at that point.
There’s a pretty good educational explanation from a guy who used to be Armored Skeptic about superheroes wearing tights. It came from acrobats and muscle man performers from olden day circuses and fairs. You know, like Robin the acrobat? It was part of his origin story. So you need not call it UNDERWEAR on the outside of pants. Thank you
No, it's more about decency backthen, was deemed too vulgar without cover under there, hence all characters with tights created from that era used UNDERWEAR on the outside.
i remember most supermen changing in phoneboxes or street before flying off. This guy had to be shown sitting down to put his boots on 😂
I don’t mind the over-lining on things that are supposed to be from a different planet. I think it works for Superman, Thor, and Guardians because they would have access to more advanced tools for sewing so the clothes would look different and fit better

Damn I personally really enjoy it as a homemade suit for a young Superman. Could easily see Superman going through a few suits in this film that reflect the history of Superman or simply a single suit that changes over the course of the film. I feel like this is a key point so many people are missing when it comes to the suit itself, more so people comparing it to Henry Cavill's suit. One is a homemade suit that is trying to find it's identity while the other was hand crafted by Krypton's themselves for the house of El. So two very differant design languages.
Also Trunks are king, same goes with a retro futuristic Metropolis. Give us a timeliness DC universe in live action. Metropolis and Gotham in the DCEU looks so uninspired and boring. You know you messed up when Gotham and Metropolis looks the same so I hope they go all in on a timeless art direction for this film. Last thing we need is another Metropolis that looks like a re-worked Chicago. Art Deco all the way with heavy 1950s futurism and a Superman wearing trunks within a bright and colourful city.

Exactly about David's Superman suit, it seems that he's going through a few suits he tried out and this suit doesn't look like a very "Superman kind of suit" especially the upper part. The bottom looks to be better and tight and might be brighter than the top but overall it's not perfect but I still love it.
I'm reminded of a painting ny Alex Ross of Superman sitting in a chair half dressed as Clark Kent in his apartment, It showed a relateable side to the character. Honestly, To me, The Henry Cavill Superman suit looked bedazzled... I liked the figure that he cut when he played the part, But he wasn't given a chance to show much acting range like he was given in the Witcher series...

Personally think it's a shame that they didn't film a sequel to 'Man of Steel.' Beyond just being a Superman film, it's great sci-fi as a standalone film. Would've enjoyed to see how they may have developed the character further in a sequel.
Yet another example of how Christopher Reeve and his authentic suit will ALWAYS be the GOAT.
For the record, I have to admit I love the New 52 suit.
Reeve is indeed the best, but his suit, obviusly not. The red briefs never looks good.
No offense, but have to disagree big time. The trunks then and now looked silly IMO. And I’m old school. I’m just taking about the suit. The acting etc is a different conversation. Best
I never thought of them as trunks. just as a red area breaking up the blue. The suit needs that, in my opinion.

I don't mind the collar and textures but the outside trunks should be a thing of the past for all Supermen going forward. Including this one.
Superheroes in general should not wear trunks on the outside. It's unnecessary.

@@LimitlessTJ They aren’t underwear and they serve a function. In addition it provides a nice visual center aesthetically to the outfit. There are pros and cons to both, more modern people like the no trunks, more traditional people tend to like them.

I will always remember the day they announced this dude has the new Superman, cause the night before i watched a movie with Lily Reinhart and when i saw this guy in the film i said to myself "Oh shit, this guy would be a good Superman!".... regarding the suit, like you said, some stuff i like and some i dont... but he really looks like Henry Cavil, he could be his twin!

Had the image featured Supes in an heroic pose, that would have helped a ton. No suit is going to look spiffy when the hero is seated and casually putting on a boot as the world behind him is in peril

You know, I think my biggest gripe with it, is that it comes off more looking like a costume jacket, the way the folds and bends are. Similar to the CW flash costume

God is completely set apart from anything man made and man conceived. Christ will return in his heavenly glorious clothing robed in royal divine heavenly righteousness. Watch and see Christ shock you and those who have a limited view of who God is.
Superman has to put his boots on at some point, this may just be a glimpse of what he does in the blink of an eye.
I like the gritty look of the suit. Looking like it’s well used. Way more realistic than the self cleaning suits they all seem to wear.

The bigger issue is that he doesn't look like Superman, he certainly ain't no George Reeves or Christopher Reeves, he's not even a Dean Cain or Tom Welling. And where the hell did the lightness and jovialness of Superman go? Superman has always been known for his smile, that electric, optimistic, American smile.
I'm hopeful.

The casualness of Superman putting on his work boots and his loose-fitting costume were my gripes when I saw the picture, and the fact that people are dying behind him and he's just begrudgingly putting on his costume instead of the iconic pulling open his button-down shirt.... then I was hit with, 'You don't know what speed he's actually going!' There's no motion blur to the image so he's not moving quickly..... But I didn't care enough about it and deleted my comments yesterday that I had left on posts.
Did it to you that if the camera was technologically advanced enough to keep up with Superman's speed, you wouldn't see a motion blur?

There would be no blur it'd look like everything was frozen in time around him. I think the picture conveys the burden he chooses to bare. I do agree though the picture in concept is a poor choice.

I actually really like the collar. Around '03 Wizard magazine ran an article where they reimagined the Justice League "Ultimate Marvel" style and the art for that Superman had a military-style collar that I thought looked very cool. I dig it.

It’s a freeze frame of him putting his boot on, but he’s probably doing it at super speed. He is Superman after all. I doubt it’s gonna take him more than a fraction of an eighth of a second to put his boot on.

I remember people being skeptical on heath being joker but not how he looked. If anything I remember people and my family and friends actually praising the look of that joker. The suit looks more rugged compared to the other superman suits especially with the dirty around the chest/emblem area, which falls in line with Gunn's style. I don't love it but I like it well enough, the most important thing is how the movie will perform more than anything.

You’re 100% right! The suit makes it look like the Guardians of the galaxy is not too far away. Hoping it’s just his movie one suit.😅 Despite that, I think David is gonna be great as Superman. He’s in a position to set the tone for years to come.
I don't know 100% how to put this into words properly but for me this suit is a 7/10 for now. I need to see the suit in motion to be able to say "jo this is awesome". what i definitely like personally though is that the suit really looks like it was some kind of uniform on his home planet and not just spendex or something.

story wise this makes sense for a first suit, Clark Kent needs a suite so goes to a motorsports shop buys a motorcycle outfit and customizes it.
I think it was inevitable to get a suit more like this. if it would have been more traditional with the spandex people would still complain that there's no creativity and its just trying to be like the Reeves suit. I feel the same as you said I don't hate it but I don't love it. I do like what they're going for with the suit. I really want to see how this suit looks in action cause that makes the biggest difference. Can't wait to see another Superman movie on the big screen again!
