Henry LOOKED amazing in the suit. He OWNED it. He EMBODIED it. But also, the overly designed suit and the 'alien symbol', all that stuff, imo was brilliant. it was an ALIEN suit. It was the coat of arms for the house of El. It represented HOPE, his family's legacy. All of that was fantastic. A shame the scripts couldn't be better though.

To me , his suit wasnt overly designed at all . The lines are simple and the texture just looks like chainmail. Now David's suit is overly designed and too thick

There is also the little overlooked fact the suit was actually based on Kryptonian Underwear. On Krypton, it was a body suit over which they wore body armour or ceremonial clothing. Henry Cavill’s Superman Suit may have had more potential, possibly it able to act as an interface with a Kryptonian battle suit or some other technology.
Unfortunately that will never realised nor explored.
Henry Cavill's suit is so much a part of him that it's more than something he wears -- it's an extension of himself. Corenswet's suit just looks like a suit. Something he wears. It doesn't help that he's actually adjusting his boot in that first image we see of it.
Tbf, Tyler Hoechlin's first Superman suit wasn't that well received by fans but it didn't matter when he delivered a phenomenal performance as Superman (and even got a new and improved suit for his own show).

I think the David Corenswet picture was an actual ‘Behind the scenes’ image of David just sitting down putting on the the boots. And the producers just added a cgi background and threw it out there. Which was a mistake. The first official image should be a nicely polished, well edited , in motion/action shot.
If you go back and look Henry’s reveal picture: it’s superman during his fight with Faora and after he just smashed into bank vault. Henry was in Superman mode , he has a stern serious face , his costume was perfectly polished and the lighting made it feel epic. Imagine if the reveal was instead a picture of Henry on his break drinking coffee and they just added an explosion in the background and said “ here’s your Superman!”

It's not even that, Henry's suit looked amazing always... even without any editing, there are plenty of set photos and even his ice bucket challenge video, with no editing, and the suit looks amazing and brighter than on screen.. Henry was Superman, period he wore the suit.. but with David, he's a cosplayer, the suit is wearing him...

I dont think theyd allow a random selfie that their coffee guy took during break to be the face of a behind the scenes look into the next up and coming big movie unless lowering expectations is the strategy

Cavill has the best suit. Especially his MoS suit and his ZSJL Black suit. They perfectly hug his muscular body, the small details look great, cape flows very nicely, and I love the that ‘S’ style. Just 10/10 suits.
David’s is growing in me though. Just wish it wasn’t so loose.
As to who will be the better Superman on screen, that remains to be seen
I like the New 52 & Kingdom Come inspiration the suit took for the DCU. The DCEU suit was great for its time, it was trying to give a realistic take on Superman and I respect that.

Henry Cavill is by far the best Superman, he's the very embodiment of the Man of Steel. With Gunn i don't know what to make of his version of Superman.
The trunks were original designed into so many super hero costumes because it was the "strong man" look of the day in circuses and such. It symbolized strength and power. It also breaks up the color design of the costume as an added bonus.
Superman costume is his Kryptonian blanket made by Martha Kent. Superman’s costume symbolizes him being a comforting and protective person to humanity - like a blanket.
I have a different perspective. I look at how it fits the story within the movie.
In the Christopher Reeve movie, I believe the suit was made from the blanket that came with him to Earth. So it is a suit a mother made for her son. Consequently it is her earth fashion style.
In the Henry Cavil movie, the suit was made by the ship AI. (His Bio father) So the style is based on Kryptonian fashion style and possibly more for function. It might have been a standard survival suit personalized by the AI for the House of El.
So there are reasons why the suit looks the way it does within the movie script.

The suit is supposed to be automatically installed in his crystal that made his ice home in the attic it is an advanced technology imbedded in those crystals , there’s a super chip at least 500 years ahead of our technology it can literally manufacture cloth out of super fiber optics A.I structure .

They even did a picture I'm trying to look for it when David very weird is sitting on his behind while Godzilla is outside doing his job look it up. 💯😂
The suit, that Cavill wore…kept changing. The color and style. The intent was to lighten the shade as the character developed…and when the character was the confident and hopeful Superman, we all know and love…then he would be in the brighter shade of Superman that we love.
The same idea was to be behind the filter over the entire film. The more character development, the less dark the filter would be…
This wasn’t a Snyder decision…this was a Nolan decision.
Originally, it was thought that Cavill would be Nolanverses Superman…which, obviously changed…
Fun Fact: The texturing on Cavill's suit is Kryptonian Scripture...

I very much enjoy your content and thoughtful commentary. And, in that spirit, allow me to suggest that with “Dawn of the Dead,” “Watchmen,” “Batman V Superman (Director’s Cut) and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” the designation of Zack Snyder as a hack might be a bit hyperbolic. To each, their own, but I think on a visceral level, Snyder has given me a lot of what I had been wanting to see from the DC realm. That’s all. Keep up the good work.
100% you can also see how other artists and directors appreciate Snyder like the x-men 97 creator, Bruce Timm, Jay Oliva, Jim Lee, the Ruso Brothers... and even Christopher Nolan. Now, Snyder does overuse some elements that might too on the nose, while I love what he has done; I cannot rewatch Army of the Dead as I got a headache with the dream lenses and my eyes trying to focus.

I’ve always wanted a non traditional, non spandex Superman suit. I just didn’t think it’d ever happen because how do you fit it under a suit & tie? Or explain its purpose on an indestructible being? Interested to see more from Gunns Superman.

David in that suit looks more like a live action version of Superboy from Young Justice. They might have shown it like this to make it look like they are still working at it. David might not have the muscle padding under the suit just so ppl will start drama over it. Controversy makes noise and it just might be the case with this photo.

Snarky I like the Instagram filtered look for the Snyder-verse. It gave those movies a cool aesthetic kinda like Alex Ross art, it was a nice appeal & one of the best things for those movies.
Also MAN OF STEEL was the best Cavil suit. Raimi suit & Cavil’s suit are peak. James Acheson was on one! 💯

I don't know if you just said it for the sake of the joke and you know the real reason behind the trunks, but just in case, their point was to emulate the look of circus strongmen, which were still a thing during the 30's when Superman was created.
Siegel and Shuster based Superman’s look on an old fashion circus strongman. So as much as the external underwear looks dated, it’s a nice nod to tradition, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
The bulkiness of this suit reminds me of Captain America: First Avenger suit. But that was supposed to be bulky because it was a WW2 army uniform. Maybe this is some sort of Kryptonian version of that? I won't knock it until I see the final product. Miss Cavill, but as a DC fan, I hope this does well, despite superhero movie fatigue.

that seam running down from the center of your neck terminates in one of those weird fabric tailoring problems. not complaining(you look stunning), just pointing out, as a tailor, its one thing i noticed certain fabrics do.
Man of Steel suppose to be a real version of how things would have been if theres a real Superman out here and the fact that he is an alien with more advanced technology from his race you would expect everything including his wardrobe to be alien like as well which I think Snyder executed on point with. Things are not gonna be daisys and roses if there were a real Superman out here let alone are own race which is dark in itself so the movie was a real version again how things would be and it was a great movie respectfully in my opinion and I think the haters missed the actual realistic point of his vision!

Physicality wise both actors are jacked, so that will not be an issue...and they could pass for siblings. The muted colors definitely don't work well either. As for the trunks...they just need to be deleted forever. Pair the trunks with a collar and the suit comes off as ridiculous. Unmute the colors of Cavill's suit and add a larger belt to break up the blue...Gucci.

I have you to thank for letting me know that the original Crow movie was coming back to the big screen👍. I first discovered The Crow with the late great Brandon Lee during Covid and LOVED it. I agree with snarky about Henry's suit because I haven't seen anyone that looks more like superman than him. I won't lie I got a little jealous when snarky mentioned crushing on Henry lol. I think snarky should be hired as writer producer and or director because she has all the knowledge wisdom and passion when it comes to knowing the DC characters and I feel she would give us a picture perfect DC movie.
I think tDavid Corenswet's suit has brigther colors closer to the original, but at least in that picture, the suit seems dirty or with burn marks, like he is in the middle of a fight, so thats why the colors are little faded, but it is true that the suit looks more like a bmx thing, other than a bodysuit
The origin of wearing underwear on the outside. In the 1930's, the most popular athletes were the professional wrestlers. The first comic book superheroes were modeled after professional wrestlers who all wore underwear on the outside. It is not really underwear, not sure exactly what it is called, but wrestlers, acrobats, and trapeze artists all dressed like that, and they were the inspiration for comic book characters.
I think what's confusing about the original design is that his trunks were too brief-like. If you look at the old circus performers and wrestlers, briefs were usually worn over tights of the same color. Meanwhile, the performers wearing them would either be shirtless or else the briefs would be the bottom part of a one-piece singlet.
Trunks, on the other hand, were worn over long underwear that was thicker than tights. I also noticed that trunks and longjohns were usually different colors.

Rebel Moon aside, Zack Snyder is far from a hack. He's one of the most visually dynamic filmmakers of our time. 300 was brilliant & had a big influence on the industry. He just has a very unique sensibility, & makes what he's passionate about. I've liked or really liked the majority of his films. Put some respect on Snyder's name. The man gave us Man of Steel, the most underappreciated comic book movie ever IMO...

I'm fine without the trunks. And unpopular option.... I don't always care about comic accurate outfits. Some outfits would look weird. In some cases, as long as the outfit looks good. Then I'm good with it

My biggest concern is the use of the Kingdom Come s shield. The reason I think this is a problem is that I'm worried they're going to try and jump from a basic Superman movie all the way to Kingdom Come and not touch on everything else (like they did with BVS trying to adapt Dark Knight Returns).
Henry Cavil is hard to beat as Superman.
I don’t think it is possible for cornsweat appear more like Superman than Cavill.
I just hope the Gunn movies can make up for the huge loss the franchise took with the loss of Cavill.
I get he wanted to restart and disassociate from the Snyderverse, but Cavill was too iconic of a Superman not bring along.
Cornsweat looked like a better looking guy in the early photos I saw.
He looked fat go in the face to me. Prob a result of the bulking up; but hope the muscle didn’t cost him his face.
Plus we were told that the replacement was partly due to Cavills age; Cotnsweat looks to be around the same age as Cavill in that new picture.
I was angry about loss of Cavill.
I was worried but hopeful about Cornsweat and his look as Superman.
And now I’m really worried.
If my worries turn out to be well founded then I’ll furious bc it was obvious to everyone but Gunn that Cavill should remain as Superman.

Look. I may be in the minority here, but as someone who loved Henry's run, he got his trilogy. However, there is still that rumor about James Gunn mentioning to Henry about a possible return down the line, after firing him, lol. My guess is some reimaging of Crisis or Injustice, but who knows? This is just the cycle of things, I guess. The new incarnation is never as good as the previous one. Routh got the misfortune of being compared to both Reeve, and later, Cavill. I'm going to advise everyone chill and be open-minded, but I'm not gonna shame y'all if you aren't. I'm just glad to be watching another Superman movie, man. My fingers are crossed that it's successful and I actually get to see Brainiac on the big screen for the first time. 😄

The old suit henry wore was for the superman returns role he auditioned. But then brian singer came and hired brandon routh for the superman.
His suit could be some thing like the first suit tony stark made for Spiderman, when he puts it on its loose , he then presses a button then it becomes a fitted suit

I have Christian Bale's Dark Knight suit and it skin tight on me but not too tight. It's very comfortable and easy to get into. The only thing I need help with is the zipper on the back and the shoulder pads. But other than that, it's a very comfortable suit but also very sweaty. I can also turn my head with ease.

Out of all of the superman/supergirl suits i gotta say, i love the way the suit Henry, sasha, and reeve wore, i even dig the corenswet suit.
Honestly, sasha calles suit as supergirl is actually one of my favorites. And i love the fact that you're wearing it (also, you look beautiful). It looks amazing on you. The only thing id change about calles suit would be that id just add red boots and would want a brighter blue.
As for Davids suit, i actually like the shade of the blue red and yellow quite a lot. Its my favorite level of color for a superman suit, but his color scheme on Henry's suit would've been utterly perfect.
I wouldn't even care about the trunks. And all of the suits are suits i would be willing to wear (despite the fact that I am not a particularly big dude, and im far from jacked.)

Until we see the suit in action its a little early to compare, we have one shot of him sitting down in a dark room. I liked Cavills suit but it was a bit over designed. I could have done without so much chain mail texture and the stuff on the side and its colors were too muted. I have hope for the new suit to be something in between the Cavill suit and the classic suit.

Correct me but wasn’t Cavill’s suit a lot more colorful and bright at the end of Black Adam? I remember being excited to see more of his Superman because of that.
in my opion the perfect superman suit would be to use the brandon routh superman returns suit as the base, the texture from the man of steel suit, the bright vibrant blues and reds from christopher reeves suit, for the emblem i say make it as big as the emblem from the brandon routh kingdom come cw suit use the s from superman returns emblem but give it the colours of the max fleisher superman suit so instead of yellow use black and with the belt use the max fleisher colours with the superman returns belt, that would be perfect to me someone needs to do a photoshop of that.
You could have added routh or hoechlin's suits for comparison.

Cavill's suit is all over the place. I didn't realize that until rewatching both Man of Steel and BVS a number of times. I like the design of cavill's suit in MOS but don't like how it looks on screen due to the muted colors, it didn't look consistent throughout the film. the BVS suit is better than Man of steel's suit.
I think some wanting the suit to have bright colors, not taking into consideration the way the suit is going to look when comes to action scenes along with flying etc. Having an overly bright suit might not work for what u want to do when it come to action or flying sequences. I like the new suit better.
We can fully judge, when we see the full suit.
I agree with her when it comes to Henry Cavil's suit. His suit colors were too dark but the fit and make up were on point. Henry Cavil played the role so well. Imma miss that guy as the Man of Steel.
Cavill's suit was perfect. It looks dark on film because of the filter that made everything look muted and less saturated. If you look at the behind the scenes footage and pictures off screen, the colors in the suit are much brighter and more vibrant.

Ah OK gotcha. Well I wish Zack would have let that color shine through. The bright blue and red definitely would have looked great on the silver screen.
@@MrSpeakerboxx05 I totally agree and get what you're saying. Imo Zack Snyder's more grounded take on Superman was pretty cool and the Man of Steel suit was definitely ahead of it's time. But it would be dope to see a restored version of MOS and BvS with brighter colors and better lighting. 🤝🏽💯
You make good points! I do like the new suit because it feels like a mixture of classic and new but Henry Cavill’s suit did feel like a proper Superman suit. I just wish Cavill’s suit had brighter colors and the script was better and being a symbol of hope. Henry Cavill deserved better. I’m excited to see what David Corenswet will bring to the table as Superman working with James Gunn. I’m predicting he might get a new suit at the end but can’t wait to see the film. According to another who spoke about the new suit was that after battling with S' enemy with the sun not shining as it should, he began to weaken and shrink down thus making the suit look baggy on his frame. Hopefully that is the case, otherwise, it would be a shame to see him throughout the movie with him in a loose-fitting outfit indeed.

I normally agree with you, but I like the trunks personally, yeah they are outdated but that’s kinda the point, weirdly they have kinda come to serve as a reflection of what the character is and what he represents and believes in. I’m still kinda take ‘em or leave ‘em but I do think they have some kinda cool symbolism and I like that
Howdy Snarkums. So it turns out that The Crow is on Prime. I finally got around to watching it because of how much you talked it up. It was pretty good, but I wasn't moved like the true believers were. After that I went back and watched the trailer for the new one. I have to be honest and say I think the new one looks pretty good from an action movie stand point. Give it a chance.
Your walk-on in that Supergirl suit earns a thumbs up. Definitely money well spent. I too have some issues with the new Superman suit but for me it's the collar. Something just doesn't look right. I think a Nehru collar would have worked better.
