The 1998 Navigator was introduced in August 1997 as Lincoln's first sport utility vehicle (SUV) with seating for up to eight people. The Navigator was based directly on the Ford Expedition, which was introduced the year before, but was positioned to be a new luxury choice in the then-growing full-size SUV market segment, with more features and an upscale design. Though the Navigator's exterior bears resemblance to its Expedition cousin at a glance, it differs in a number of ways, including different front and rear fascias with unique headlights and taillights, a chrome "waterfall" style grille, a unique hood, different style wheels, unique wheel arches, a different roof rack, and different door handles. Inside, the Navigator's humble truck roots could be more easily spotted as it had the same dashboard layout as the Expedition and F-150. However, the Navigator's interior featured upscale additions including standard leather seating surfaces, fine wood inserts, extensive carpeting, and greater sound deadening. Navigator was also developed under the program code name UN173, with the Expedition developed under the UN93 program code name.

Honestly I remember my older Uncle Vince used to have a 2000 or 2001 Lincoln Navigator it was tan with tan interior also it was a 7 passenger SUV he had also too but it was a long time ago also.

Back when motors were simple, listen to that engine pur, no ticking or tapping like modern engines do, even luxury V8's sound like the timing chain is about to snap, I guess the direct injection and other gizmos make it sound that way albeit to get more power...

Holy crap, judging by the condition, I would have figured this was a private party sale, not a dealer. It's missing several interior bits, the seats are trashed, carpet is stained beyond repair, there's multiple idiot lights on. It really seems abused and neglected. I would've thought a dealer would pass on a vehicle like that, just send it to auction.

The dealer I worked for actually did send it to auction. Never went through any kind of recon. I wanted to do a video on it, and if it sold wholesale, that would be a plus. It never did sale wholesale and I’m not sure what it took in on the lanes. I just like the 1st gen Navigator and in the almost 4 years I was at that dealership, that’s the only one that came through.
