    I had all on 4 surgery 5 days ago. 6 on top and 5 implants with bone graft on bottom. The swelling is almost gone just left with swelling on my chin which is very painful still. Overall the bridges do feel okay just feels very tight in your mouth which i need to get used to. Still in a fair bit of pain throughout the whole mouth so looking forward to being pain free.

      Hey there! Congrats on your surgery! We're so glad to hear that our video has helped! The WaterPik is a water flosser that allows you to gently clean underneath your new bridge, instead of using string floss and trying to thread it around each implant. Very very important to use one and keep the area around your implants clean to keep them happy and healthy. WaterPik's ion water flosser is our favorite - here's a link for all the info on it bit.ly/peymanion

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem

      Hi Marie! It's best to use a combination of a soft, soft bristle toothbrush and a Waterpik Water Flosser (on a low setting until you're used to it, and with the implant denture tip) for a good overall clean. While you're in your temporary teeth, it's also best to just use a baking soda mixture to brush with, since toothpaste is very abrasive and can take the color off your acrylic or 3D Printed teeth.

    I had my dental implant surgery on March30,2023four implants on top and four on the bottom. It’s April 4,2023 my face is slightly bruised swollen and gums are very sore. Plus the bottom left side of my lip is still numb! That’s really freaking me out, but you said that this can last for weeks to a few months? Why does that happen? I don’t get how anyone can go through a very intense surgery like this and feel totally fine 5 days later! 😮

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem +1

      Hey Revo! It sounds like you're on the right track to recovery. You're close to the 7-day mark, which is when many of our patients start to feel "the upside." But yes - everything you're mentioning is normal, especially numbness on the lower jaw. We have to keep in mind that this is a major procedure that takes place in a very small area where many nerves are present. All-on-4 is a JOURNEY, and the best is yet to come.

    Is all on four individual teeth that can be flossed in between, or is it a block of teeth?

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před 2 lety +4

      Also a great question! Hope I this answer it: All on 4 is one solid piece that sits on top of the 4 (or more) implants, fitting flush against your gums. You wouldn't need to worry about flossing between each individual tooth, but will instead floss (or Waterfloss) underneath the solid piece - between the gums and the new teeth.

    All on 4 is a nice idea, yet not so good after all : it might break easily, with all the pressure and forces that are involves in the mouth… Make sure the implants are not in the front, and maybe get 6 instead of 4.

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem

      Definitely can't have long cantilevers in the final teeth! AP spread and implant placement are key 🔑 Thankfully - we use "All on 4" as a general term. We usually place 4-8 implants, depending on the case. All depends on the bone!

    Hello I am 6 days in, got the upper all 4.
    The roof of my mouth is very painful when drinking. When will that subside. Salt water hurts it more. The covering at the top of my mouth is rubbing against the roof. Is that normal?
    All of my swelling has gone down but the numbness and tightness is still very obvious.

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem

      Hey Lilah, congrats on having the All on 4 done. It sounds like you're going through some normal post-op soreness right now for sure. Some dentists use a "marker" in the roof of the mouth to help with the digital scans - it sounds like that might be what is causing your pain. If you're 7-days post-op right now, I'd say you're almost in the clear. Of course, bring it to your dentist's attention when you go back for a post-op visit, but know that it is a very tender spot and is normal to feel. As for the covering - you should bring this up to the dentist as well. Anything that is uncomfortable to you should be brought to their attention so they can adjust the problem spots. Thanks for the questions!

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před 2 lety

      Good question, Tara! All on 4's are a permanent fixed option - meaning they don't ever have to be removed by you (and actually can't be, unless the dentist takes them off to clean underneath - usually once a year). A Waterpik waterflosser and a regular ol' toothbrush should be used to clean every night. This option is as close as you can get to the natural teeth feel and function.

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem +1

      Love your dedication to fitness! However, we normally suggest that our patients take 3-4 days off of work, and take about a 2-week break from any strenuous activity. One of the worst things for that immediate healing phase is pressure in the mouth - which can even come from something as little as bending over too much.

    • @bellafitness798
      @bellafitness798 Před rokem

      Omg I’m a fitness instructor too and I’m having the same surgery!! Upper jaw all 4 and I’m extremely nervous. To hear that I have to avoid strenuous activities, that also means I would probably have to avoid yelling right?
      Usually I teach group classes while yelling at the members (motivating) , so you would recommend avoiding teaching as well? @MyNewSmileDental

    • @MyNewSmileDental
      @MyNewSmileDental  Před rokem

      Hey @@bellafitness798 ! Straight from Christine's mouth: "There's nothing wrong with yelling! You may be a little swollen for a week after surgery or so, so that may hinder your actual ability to yell - but yelling won't have an actual impact on the implants or healing. Maybe just use a microphone though lol." 😆 So it sounds like you should be clear to motivate!
