  • This week, the Indian Navy made significant moves. They officially launched the first squadron of MH 60R Seahawk helicopters, boosting their surveillance and combat abilities at sea. The commissioning ceremony for the INAS 334 'Seahawks' naval air squadron took place at INS Garuda in Kochi.
In addition, India opened a new naval base on Minicoy Island in the Indian Ocean, near the Maldives, amidst strained relations. This base, INS Jatayu, is strategically important, being India's furthest western base and around 125 km from the Maldives.
In this episode, host Dev Goswami and defense expert Shiv Aroor, discuss these developments and the significance of Lakshadweep for the Indian Navy. Why is it that Andaman and Nicobar islands have been given a greater focus than Lakshadweep, an archipelago who has always had a limited military presence? How timely is the establishment of the new navy base on the archipelago? And in the midst of this, how does Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding bash in Jamnagar, come into the picture? Well, tune in to find out!

Given India's 7 to 8,000 coast line, India should have been a Maritime nation. To be honest Navy deserves to grow very big to be able to Manufacture more versatile defence Ships for defence against China's Aggressive atitude trying to project itself as a Blue water Navy. Given India's longest coastline. India needs to build atleast minimum the 5 Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier with EMAL system of 80 to 100.O00 Tons capacity of Nimitz class Air Craft Carrier with a strong Battle Groups.. Definitely India could station it's Air Craft Carrier in Asia Pacific and Mediterranean Sea..!!! To do all these India's Global Trade and Economic might has to grow with India's Population of 8 to 900 million should to be uplifted to Upper Middle Income status Selfsustain with Per Capita Income should touch from todays 2,500 dollar to minimum of 15 to 25,000/- Dollar Per Capita Income. Than only it makes sense to be a No.2 or No.1 Super Power in the world...

Good content, nice format but audio hygiene is frustrating to listen.
As a podcast we expect both speakers are at same volume level. Dev's voice goes feeble, either too far from the Mike, some mumbling and mostly because his mic is too low volume. Can you please ensure both mic produce similar volume. Being podcast we can't keep fiddling with volume when the speakers take turns. Content is excellent but the audio is exhausting

Military capabilities is a function of Economics. India is slowly & gradually developing economy and as it grows might may catch up militarily as well.

Line of control needs to be guarded by AI based robots - human presence for coastal guarding needs to be phased out as soon as possible. LOC an LAC should be guarded by the robotic armies.

The Indian navy not projecting power like the US Navy and shiv aroor defending it by saying we're not that kind of people we r defensive shows we have still not gotten rid of virtue signaling Gandhian mindset...The world respects only brutal hard power, the world respects the USA cuz it has brutal hard power..world fears China cuz it has brutal hard power with huge ambitions of ruling the world.
Indians would still be treated like backward weak submissive kind of people who would do no harm despite tiny nations like Maldives and Nepal misbehaving if we don't get rid of this mindset. No Maldives or Nepalese would do the same to the USA or China.
