“There Are Big Holes In This Story” Remote Submarine Pilot Questions Titanic Wreck Mission

- Rescue teams are continuing the search for a submersible tourist vessel which went missing during a voyage to the Titanic shipwreck with a British billionaire among the five people aboard.
TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer takes a call from remote operating vehicle pilot for submarines, Colin in Bergen Norway, who says “there are holes in the story”.
He tells Julia: “We always have at least one or two transponders. I cannot understand how this sub has gone down there without a few of those.”

Do you think they will find the vessel?
Expedition unknown in like 20 years maybe
I personally don't think it will ever be found. You would need to be insanely reckless to do something like this if you understand the risks, seems to be the people involved have been watching too many Hollywood films and had no idea just how dangerous doing something like this actually is.

Did I hear this right? This thing had no "umbilical cord", no transponders, no satellite tracking system, no way to navigate without instructions from the mother vessel, it is operated with a modified game console and they still thought it was a good idea to let people go down in it? Is this even legal?

I find it unbelieveable that, despite the horrendous cost of a seat on this thing, that it went down into the depths without a Remote Locator Beacon. Surely they had one?
PINGER BEACONS dont work thru the Thermals ..the Nazis used to hide their subs from the US war ships in the same thermals beginning at a shallow 200 meters in that area..
They do have a sonic beacon, from what I read yesterday. A radio signal would not penetrate the water (so they said). If they aren't picking up the sonic beacon, I believe the thing imploded.
Surely, they had more than one!?!?
@@SMaamri78 Correct - radio and water do not mix. Water is very efficient at absorbing/dissipating radio energy. Even the big navy subs have to come up very close to the surface and even then communicate only via very low frequency radio spectrum.

It's a shame the other passengers died, but the owner of the company brought this on himself for doing a DIY deep sea sub.
Absolutely insane.
I mean I kind of disagree, if this thing has gone down there successfully 3-4 other times, it wasn't just some piece of garbage.. I'm not so sure it has anything to do with how it was built, but more to do with inexperience, and plan b's, c's, d's, and e's.
Either that, and or they got stuck on the wreckage, despite what some have said on the news, but there 100% is very strong current down there, and that Sub's size could for sure be easily moved by the current.

It's not a grave site, there is no bodies on the wreck site. The bodies that were not found following the Titanic's sinking (most people had life jackets and were floating - they died of hypothermia) were scattered far away in the ocean by the currents.

It DID have a transponder. It stopped working. It also had several safety measures which could surface the sub if power failed, such as ballast weights and air floation bags which can be deployed. If power failed, it could surface. If it sank, odds of finding it again without a working transponder is zero, even if it had one, then it would be a miracle to find it, and as the expert says, theres no chance of recovery if they did know its location. And those currents would mean it could be anywhere.

@@marviwilson1853 not easily, ive watched quite a few vids about this, and its mentioned in one of them. @@christianbuczko1481 Sounds like from that info then that they did have an acoustic positioning system. Any recent changes to insurance policies or any recent movement of assets?
Does flight mh370 ring any bells
That story also had more holes in it than a sieve and both were vessels with a dubious cargo 🙂 Looking at the industries and organisations that this billionaire was involved in and once you understand how this world really operates its just another of the things that make you go 'hmmmm' 🤔
sadly,Titanic has more victims after 111 years
Wow, that's some quality content presented by a top tier host
If their found safe and well they should be made to pay for the rescue operation
And if not, it should come out of their estate, as they chose to go.
as it should be titanic should not be visited like ever. They already damaged the ship with submarines
@@KarlJayce_ "damaged' the ship" LOL!
@@KarlJayce_ don't worry, next year people will pay $300 000 to visit the Titanic and the submarine.
My thoughts exactly.
From what I see and hear, 5 people with too much money get into a sealed garden shed and dive to a grave side and now need half of the world to rescue them??? Wow, the only one I feel sorry for is the teenager who was taking there by his braindead father.
Such a heartless way to look at it. Rather use your words to pray for them. Just pray you never end up in a situation as dire as this. Think before you judge. It's their money, they didn't steal it!
@@tnkn969 Yes is there money good for them
@@tnkn969 ah but, think of the lives that money could have saved on the living, rather than spending ludicrous amounts on viewing the dead on a ship famous for lives lost! Humanitarian and philanthropy would have been as valuable if not more, if money and bragging rights were on the check list of needs and wants.

No deep dives or MARS for me. You could not pay me.
A guest on the BBC said that the convex viewing window used to go flat under the high pressure. That would be a concern for me. Also, the monitors are screwed to the hull....is that safe?
They're dead, let's face it.. And now the company who sent them down there are utterly shitting a ton of bricks thinking about their liability...
tell ya what folks, at the depth these subs go to view for tourism purposes.
You only have to screw up once to join the many down below.
RIP to those that challenged the depths.
I think this sub had a catastrophic failure. A bad gasket, a bad valve seal.
An hour + in they lost contact. The crew up top knew they couldn’t see them but did the crew going down know they weren’t being seen.? If so wouldn’t they have headed for the surface? Not terribly deep at that time?
I was thinking that!!! Why didn't the submersible not realise that the minute it lost contact and the mother ship go and raised the alarm.
I heard the sub has weights on it to help
It sink and it can release it apparently, so why didn't they do this?
Or something else happened or they didn't realise at all. My god it should not be allowed again if the sub is this simple. Only hi tech water subs should
Only be allowed with all the safety and beacon etc whatever it is to the max to have a sub that has everything it can to have safe dive. And when they make the search and rescue or recover vehicles that is capable of rescuing in these depths and situations.. only then should these kind of activities be allowed.
Learn from this today don't be stupid
I am sorry to everyone experencing distress at this time. May you find comfort & peace of mind somehow.

NO
@@brianbelchior7329 I’d like more information. I don’t know much. Praying for good news. 🙏🏼
That's the essence of this story.
This is really really good practice drills for US Navy sub search.
Ask yourselves why a non spherical submarine with a one foot, 3 inch thick window would make it to 12500 feet without crushing like a beer can?
Also this craft had auto ballast mechanical devices on it, so it should have surfaced, if not then it’s imploded sadly.
The 1st question I had to this weird story was why don't they have sonar pings? Every commercial Sub has a sonar ping system where they are identified through echoes... Why doesn't this sub have that?
From what I’ve heard, they did, it’s how the boat gave them directions, so not hearing anything back is a really bad sign….
It means it imploded and there’s nothing there to generate pings, in my humble opinion 😢
Be a miracle if they will be found alive. Just now leave titanic in peace now it's a gravesite
Its 2.5 miles down, external or internal transponders will not be able to get a signal out at such depths, thats why no radio communications are possible under the sea, only military have the ability to transmit at super low frequencies umder the ocean.
I remember how long it took them to find the wreck of the Titanic. I can’t imagine what those folks on this sub are going through.
If you put yourself in harms way , Harm will find a way !!
Maybe this submarine can be part of the titanic exhibition permanently they should leave this wreck alone let those poor souls who perished in peace I'm not surprised this has happened these tours should be banned
Ghosts stories are for kids.
I pray they are alive and ok, hope they find them soon.
Even if they lose power, there are several alternatives in place to get the sub to the surface. So, unless they are literally stuck at the bottom of the ocean or the vessel imploded from pressure, they should be floating on the surface; somewhere.
