    To avoid biting bugs try upping your B-Complex (B-6, B-12) supplementation intake and try incorporating garlic in your lunch and dinners. To avoid the garlic smell you can take garlic pill supplements. After 2 weeks to 30 days, your blood, will have the chemicals that give off an odor bugs don't like and you probably won't need to apply any insect repellent. I've done this for camping seasons in Canada and I've noticed it works. Avoiding sugary foods, bananas especially, soda pop and alcohol really helps with removing the chemicals in blood that attract biting insects. Good luck. Great video.

      @@TheCarrollHomeTeam I’m thinking about moving to Florida. Will definitely give you a shout if we consider Vero as an option. My main concern is airport accessibility.

    • @TheCarrollHomeTeam
      @TheCarrollHomeTeam  Pƙed rokem

      @@chadwolf3840 understandable! Depending on where you're flying to/from, vero has a small airport with limited destinations and melbourne is only 45 minutes north with many more options. Other than that you're looking at either west palm or orlando airports which are about 1.5 hours drive from vero. Hope that helps!

    I love Vero Beach area, been there several times. We were down in February a year before the pandemic, and when we crossed AiA, there wasn’t any traffic to speak of. We enjoyed the art Museum, and restaurants such as Sonny’s BBQ, and the Kilted Mermaid. Fabulous fondue and homemade brews. Another thing that impressed me was the plethora of various doctor’s offices encompassing any specialty, which is important to my wife and myself because we are both retired, and well, you know, our 60 year warranty ran out awhile ago, so doctor visits are needed. As for your comments on heat, a d bugs, that’s all over Florida, not unique to just Vero Beach. We also liked the various stores that we are familiar with here in Southern NJ. Places like Lowe’s, Walmart, Sam’s club, TDBank,
    I also got the impression that Vero Beach doesn’t really want to advertise that much. I didn’t find stores who sold Vero beach logo hats, sweatshirts, etc. to the extent you would find in ft lauderdale, miami, cocoa beach, etc which to me is nice. Enjoyed your video. Good luck with baby #2

      Walgreens carries Vero Beach, merchandise. I am a native Vero Beachian, born and raised as are sons. My first son, (Air Force, stationed in the panhandle. It's a whole other world up there.😬)even had the same pediatrician, that I did.
      The Kilted Mermaid is excellent.

    Nice job. I know you are looking at this through your personal lens which makes sense. I wanted to add a couple of thoughts as a Vero Beach barrier island resident.
    Your video, ironically, had several shots of the Village Spires. One of our favorite "pros" for the area is the countywide height restriction that ended any high rise construction with the two Village Spires in the early 1970's. The result is that the area is much less congested than the rest of the Florida coast and the area is just prettier for the lack of any tall buildings (except the two in the video).
    As you note, the city is small and includes both the mainland and the barrier island. The summers are hot, but a lot less so on the island. The near constant breeze off the ocean not only keeps the temps in the 80's, it also blows the bugs inland. I'm sorry if they ended up in your neighborhood! 😬We certainly notice that it is much hotter when we have to head to the mainland during the day.
    You are so right that the slow pace of life feels like a pro to some and a con to others. We have friends who left Vero and moved to Miami Beach. Not for us. One feature of our location is that it's a trip to a major commercial airport. West Palm and Orlando are almost equidistant and about 90 minutes away. When I was working and on the road, that was a pain. It is still an issue for guests who fly in, but it's manageable. Someone who is dependent on air travel in a big way would find it a challenge.

      Just a casual observation, this PRO (of limited construction on a thin strip of land), kind of makes it a more income divisive beach; meaning you really need to be in the 1% to live right on the beach. While further south in Florida, you can get to the beach from anywhere, and if you can't live on it, you can be a few stop lights away or you can just pay rent. Again, just a 50,000 foot view. Thanks. I have been to Vero and toured the neighborhoods back across the river, and no complaints, but it ain't a true beach lifestyle like that.

    We sit out on our screened in patio in the evening up to 4th of July, after that we are usually in the house till October. We also have an outside patio with no screen and lake view, in the evening we watch the night sky. The space station and satilites go by, sometimes we see the space launches go up.

    Are there areas more impacted.? Great city just want to be in the quiet neighborhoods. Thank you.

      Hi Jay! 👋
      In certain parts of the city that are very close to the airport, you will experience some noise from the airplanes passing by. But for the most part the greater Vero Beach and surrounding cities are really not affected by the air traffic. Our airport is small enough that we don't experience too much traffic.
      There are many beautiful neighborhoods for you to choose from that will offer you the quiet and serene setting you're looking for. Please shoot me an email at Rachael@carrollteam.net with your name best contact phone number and email and I'll be happy to send you some information on the best areas for you to be looking at :)

    This could just be me but my skin seems to really hate it here. It definitely hates the water. My face gets really irritated and i have to wash my face with bottled water. im trying filters to see if that works, but even with the bottled water the skin on my face is messed up here.

    No see'ums come out at dusk & dawn, so if you'll be out in the jungle at those times, use some bug spray! 😁

    Hi, which beach do you recommend? Never been and my favorite is siesta key in Sarasota. We are looking to relocate to Vero Beach.

    • @TheCarrollHomeTeam
      @TheCarrollHomeTeam  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Hi Annette! I've heard great things about siesta key! Of course I love vero beach so much sense I live here! Some of my favorite beaches to visit here our south beach park where the beach is very wide and usually not very busy, & I also love the beach up at Jetty Park because they have such a great long boardwalk, lots of free parking and it's a shorter walk to the water. Depends on how much stuff I am bringing with me as to which beach I choose to visit!! :)
      We also have a really great beach that's a little busier but It's nice and flat and can be a lot of fun socially, and that is pepper park down into Fort Pierce on north Hutchison island.
      Of course there are a handful more that are really lovely but these are just a few of my personal favorites that I've been visiting since I was a little girl Before I even lived in Florida! Hope that's helpful :-)
