I long past learnt that many supporters of calvin and Luther are mostly ignorant of what they actually taught or believe, none of which is biblical and sadly I suggest, is just what Prince of Darkness wants gullible believers to embrace. Calvin’s logic is totally flawed in his beliefs of double Predestination partial atonement. Recall Paul said that God “is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe” (1 Tim. 4:10). God clearly sent his Son to save us all not only those who believe. Ergo, God makes salvation available to all, even if all do not choose to receive it. Yes, God has chosen to limit His sovereignty in asking us to love Him which by definition can never be forced upon another!
In Calvin's own words, "man's will (if it exists at all) is torn between two beasts of burden. We are just depraved animals to be riden either by his god or by the devil, inevitably to our eternal fate, one heaven and the other hell. Man has no say whatsoever in his Final Destiny and yet somehow they pretend we still have freewill? Give me a break!
In the first five years of Calvin's rule in Geneva, 58 people were executed and 76 exiled for their religious beliefs. Calvin allowed no art other than music, and even that could not involve instruments. Under his rule, Geneva became the center of Protestantism.
we sometimes hear "If you could lose your eternal salvation then it wouldnt be eternal". So say Calvinists who know it would totally destroy their false suppositions and dangerous doctrines if true. So tell me where do we find the claim "you can NOT lose your salvation" OR "once saved always saved". Proponents merely retort "Ah but many like pastors Dan Barker and Ravi Z werent really genuine Christians to begin with." Nice get-out-of jail reaction but is it true?

Thank you for posting this presentation and this Truth of God's sovereignty, according to Charles Spurgeon, is a pillow on which I can rest my head at night.
Also, when it comes to this topic, I'd like to add that I've been partially blind since birth and one passage that came to me as I was listening to what pastor John had to say was the beginning of John 9, where Jesus is passing by and he comes across a man who is born blind. His disciples ask Him whether or not this man's blindness is a result of his sin or that of his parents. He tells them that it is neither. It is so that the power of God might be displayed through Him and what I'm able to get out of this passage is that I may never know exactly why the Lord allowed me to be born blind, but all I can do is trust that He had a good purpose for it.

Look at the life of Jacob in Genesis, he lied to his father and had to flee from his home because his brother wanted to kill him. Then ended up at his uncle’s house who lied & made him serve him much longer than their deal. He couldn’t have children with the wife he loved yet when he finally did, she died. His other sons were jealous and sold one of them (Joseph) and left Jacob devastated thinking he died. Yet in all this GOD was with him, He continued to bless him and prosper him because of his faith and the faith of his fathers; he was chosen. This shows GOD allows us to face and endure hardships of all kinds yet He is still with us. He blesses us, speaks to us, guides us, and strengthens our faith in Him through all the suffering and opposition. So have faith brother. 🕊 God is good & He is with us, working out His plan & purpose in our lives.

Calvinist have to take their interpretation of God’s sovereignty, that He controls every thought, action, sin, good deed, etc, to the logical conclusion that it’s not just God’s will that people sin, but that God Himself even compels a person to sin. Their sinful acts are mandated by God. I believe this error can be debunked with just one verse, “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.”

This is how a PhD former presbyterian minister and doctor of theology explains God's so-called irresistible will or Sovereinty: Whereas most Christians believe the Bible teaching which emphasizes both God’s grace and man’s cooperation, there is no room in Calvinist teaching except for a staunch denial of St. Paul’s inspired notion of man as “CO LABORER” with God (1 Cor. 3:9).
In Calvin’s words: If [by free will] is meant that after we are once subdued by the power of the Lord to the obedience of righteousness, we proceed voluntarily, and are inclined to follow the movement of grace, I have nothing to object… If, again, it is meant that man is able of himself to be a fellow-laborer with the grace of God, I HOLD IT TO BE A MOST PESTILENT DELUSION (Institutes, Bk. 2, Ch. 3, Para. 11)
“Freewill” for the Calvinist means acting in accord with irresistible grace (aka God’s irresistible Will) that he cannot do anything but accept. Is the god you want to believe in who loves us all? John 3:16
Of course, the consensus view asserts that man cannot “of himself” merit anything from God- meaning, apart from God’s empowering grace. But Calvin’s meaning is very different. For him, “Subdued by the power of the Lord” means that man cannot resist the movement of God’s grace. If God wills for you to go to heaven, he will give you grace to that end and you will be irresistibly moved to act in accord with it. If God wills for you to go to hell, then you will not be given grace and you will be moved to sin by God’s eternal decree. Such is the damning indictment and absurdity of such an unjust notion.
if God predestines every person, and not all are called, elected, or predestined for salvation, then God has predestined (the Westminster Confession says “fore-ordained”) some persons to hell or eternal damnation. Second, if God has predetermined the ultimate fate of all persons, then the individual has no power to make any important decisions. Presbyterians have learned to believe, also, in free will, realizing that these two doctrines are logically impossible to hold at the same time, but that each is true, as taught in the Westminster Confession… but that impossibility doesn't seem to hold back those sitting on Salvation mountain waving their get out of jail free pass having assumed their is nothing that a righteous person can do like turning from his righteousness and losing salvation. Perhaps they missed the 75 texts that contradict this heresy?

  • @Todd_Kuhns

The problem with this definition of sovereignty is that Christians end up thinking that everything that happens in their life is what, how and when God wants. "My spouse had an affair......well, God is sovereign." "My child started doing drugs......well, God is sovereign." And when we accept everything as God's will we stop living by faith and live simply by hope. Hope is good but the Bible is clear when it says "the righteous shall live by faith." It also says, the "without faith it is impossible to please God."

    • @Todd_Kuhns
      @Todd_Kuhns Před 5 lety

@TheGladeUp faith is believing that something is true, hope is not being sure but desiring it to be true. When you go into a dark room you know the light will go on when you flip the switch. @@Todd_Kuhns It seems like what you're describing is someone who is failing to remember and practice the responsibility they have in their lives. But this doesn't mean that God is not sovereign or that we don't have responsibilities. The Christian life, our call to obedience, stands on two pillars. The promise of God ordained by His sovereign will, and the infinite power of God. We are called to live righteously even though we are born again and righteous in God's eyes because of Jesus Christ. God is totally sovereign and we have the ability to make choices with real consequences that we are held responsible for. This is beautifully supported in Scripture when Paul tells us to, "work out our salvation with fear and trembling, because it is God who is at work in us." in Philippians 2:12-13

@@robertoesquivel4447 I don't disagree. My point was that God is not sovereign in the sense that He controls everything. A person doesn't have cancer because God wanted them to have it. God does not sovereignly cause someone to cheat on their spouse.

There is a difference between what God's will is and what actually happens because God does not force His will on people
Alternately God can use His sovereign will to delegate authority.
For example Jesus said believers wil do the things that He did (John 14:12)
So when Peter said to the lame man on the steps of the temple "such as I have give I thee" What Peter had to give was the authority Jesus had given him to heal the sick.

Problem; there's a big difference between "knowing" and KNOWING. The kind of "knowing" that comes from personal experience, what we've been taught, the ideas of others, etc. boils down to little more than "opinion". It is known by neuroscientists, psychologists, biologists, etc. [scientists] that what people often accept as knowing something is nothing more than opinion. The only real KNOWING is that which comes from scientific research, experimentation, etc. Things that can be objectively "measured". It is well known that perception alone can be far from objective. Personal interpretation of events or understanding of words can be far from true empirically. Most people falsely believe their personal experience is in fact objectively true/factual but that is not necessarily the case. So try to imagine the objectivity of ancient documents or world of mouth myths recorded by people who didn't even have any "formal" education such as Jesus' disciples. The ONLY thing that stands up to objective scrutiny is science and the scientific method.
