- First time the A4 Pacific BR 60007 / LNER 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' steam locomotive is back in King's Cross since the overhaul. Such a spectacle to catch, with the only operational A4 Pacific which shares the same class alongside record breaker Mallard soaring through the heart of London.
Filmed 17th November 2022.

Just wonderful. An iconic piece of British engineering. There are four icons to remember from Britain. A series one E T ype Jaguar roadster, a A 4 Pacific, a mark one supermarine Spitfire, and last but not least T Concorde. Beat them never. ♥️
Just hearing the whistle echoing out in to the distance is sending chills right down my spine, glad they restored this piece of amazing history. ❤❤❤
Nothing like an A4 chime whistle rattling the rafters of Kings Cross once more.....!
Completely agree... Sentimental!!
Love the whistle… similar to the whistle of a locomotive built in NSW Australia reg 3801 built by Clyde Engineering in Sydney.
What a wonderful sight.
The sound of that whistle reminds me of my childhood happy times !
Fantastic video 👍. Made the hairs on my neck stand up . I saw Union of South Africa at Severn valley soMe years ago ,We used to be good at everything once , what the effing hell went wrong with our country ☹️
Super shots ! 👍
Still going strong this old lady .I hope she has more happy year to come. 😚😚
Wonderful loco still performing a wonderful job.
A4 mallard and the 60103 flying scotsman are my most loved steam locomotives and my grandfather used to also work in the old Carlisle upperby 12b locomotive and maintenance sheds around 1960's and worked on the trains as well as being the fireman and signal man and guard and also quite a few other jobs as he grew more into his job, sadly he passed away at the age of 80 on the 26th of November 2022, just looked through his old railway books and photos and found a lot of photos of him working also some of his old badges as well as the 12b loco shed badge that he wore on his old railway coat and also found his British rail identity card with his photo and I'd number on it, wanted to also work on freight trains ever since I was a kid, me and my grandad would always talk about old trains and I know a lot about railway stuff as I'm 20 now, sadly I have epilepsy got diagnosed back in November of 2017 but if I ever get rid of it I'm going to try and get a railway job, usually play on train simulator world 3 driving old class diesel freight trains like the class 37, class 40, class 45, for the modern freight loco I'm always using the class 66, the class 68 and class 88 are also amazing cant use them on the game but I have seen them in real life and I love them.
Nigel's in good shape. Splendid and handsome as ever.
Loved the arrival scene, which also had LNER prominently displayed on the train in the adjacent platform. Also well done to the footplate crew for the chime whistle.
Gotta love the class 91 at the back... and the whistle's definitely a blast! (no pun intended!!)
Gorgeous
Interesting :-). Very interesting shot indeed :-). Thanks indeed most for sharing this :-).
Enjoyed your video a lot, nothing beats a A4, i have a soft spot for the beauty after walking through the tender and riding on the footplate for a few miles at NYMR, thanks for showing this, i have subscribed...Mal
Nice 30s LNER livery on that lovely 4498 Streak.
Wartime black. Blue in the 1930s.
Its a pity you can't smell videos!!! Great camera work.
I agree. Try imagine the scent of boiling brass in a mixture of moist coal soot around the King's Cross ambience!!
Appreciate the compliment also! :)
Just Fabulous !!
Magnificent! Thank you.
Cheers and steam ahead! :)
Wow... !!! My best friend, It's always great. I wish you every day of your development. Have a happy day!
Fantastic train and beautiful station😃⤴️⤴️Excellent video :)
Don’t want to sound weird but I bet it smelled great in there for hours after!
Especially enclosed in the King's Cross... The smell of hot brass and vigorous steam at the moment was memorable for sure!
A truly handsome machine. 👍 🇬🇧
It's good that one of them is still running, pity the others aren't. I guess Mallard will never run again as she is just too precious to both this nation and indeed the wider world. Wouldn't it be nice if they built a new one.......?
I love the echo of the whistle👏
Thank you, Wish I was there.
Very nice filming of the A4 from Kings Cross.
Thank you! I was lucky to catch a good spot
Gotta love the whistle of an A4 absolutely beautiful
why did i think it was mallard for a second 😂
For sure have not seen the Mallard moving around on her own steam for quite some while! Would definitely be a sight :D
Surely the don't go all the way to Edinburgh in reverse 🤔
idk but an a4 next to a class 700 , there's something settling about it, idk what it is
Didn’t know it’s black now used to be blue
I'd definitely like to see it in the glorious BR express blue!! But the wartime black is equally magnificent.
It is blue again now 2023
Pollar express in real life
What time in night ?
you can't run a high intensity coal fire inside a mostly closed shed .... the whole place gets smokey and sooted up
With all these strikes maybe no railways left

It must have been bringing the mugs back from visiting the garden sheds selling over-priced tat on Parliament Street in York.
