Hello everyone and welcome back to Brink of Speed.
Today I will compare the new 2020 Corvette C8 to a C6 & a couple of C7 Corvette's. This is footage from the GM assembly plant in Bowling Green Kentucky when I went with Clarence of CGarnerSpeed252 to pick his new C8 up from the National Corvette Museum. Honestly I love and respect both cars but I'm more on the C7 side but the battle will come down to the wire in terms of trunk space, comfort, basic maintenance, and affordability at the time that I am deciding to purchase. Both are amazing cars! Respect to all corvettes! 👊🏽✌🏽💯🏁

I’m not sure I will ever like the C8 Camaro rear taillamp design for their flagship (not saying it looks bad even-js). Also the Audi R8 inspired side intake just doesn’t scream original to me. As an FYI, they admitted that they were inspired by the R8 on that decision. Not saying it looks bad but just I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Also I figure if they are going to go Ferrari lambo on us- some may even say McLaren in the front. Then why not some scissor swing up doors while you’re at it. 🤷🏼♂️ that all said I am being very critical, and I do think it’s a great car. I would certainly take it, maybe even over the C7 for the newer technologies and obvious value. Just saying that I didn’t hear any complaints or remember me with any criticalness on the C7. I thought the C7 was one of the best designs by Corvette ever.

If there's one thing the C8 does well is that it makes the C7 look better than ever. The C7 still looks good and will/has aged well where as the C8 looks like something from the early 2000s and seems old already which probably due to all the hype.

I agree. The C7 is beautiful. The C8 looks somehow obsolete already, and contrived. It looks like they tried to overdo the the whole thing. It doesn't flow. To me front end don't look good , the rear end looks bad, with the square exhaust pipes, and Camaro look. The square steering wheel, and the fact tht it doesn't come in manual are turn offs to me. I tried to like this car , but the more I look at it the less I like it. See how it goes in two years when they are sitting on the dealer lots being discounted, after the thrill wears off. That will be the real answer to how it fares. I would much sooner buy a Porsche GT4., but there are plenty of people who think it's great. Maybe it has to do with wanting to be the first one in the neighborhood to get one, or maybe they really love it. It's subjective. Get what you like.
I’m sorry, but that C7 still has the most beautiful lines! The C8 is no slouch, but that C7 is just a classic!

Yes, the rear on C8 looks too much like a Camaro and it's too fussy. The rear on the C7 is perhaps the only thing that's better than the C8.

Like both, like to have the motor and interior of the c8 in the body of the c7, I have a 12 c6 and a 16 c7, love the long Beach Red with the natural interior !! But can't wait for the zo6 c8 !!!!

Im pretty sure everybody will forget about the C7 once the C8 Z06 will come out. The Stingray is awesome but its missing that little something to be perfect. Id buy one in a heart beat if i had the money tho.
I keep going back and forth on this question. This video moved me toward the C7 over the C8. (I have a C7 but at times have favored the C8, but I haven't had the opportunity to see one in person yet and I hear that makes the difference.)

C7 is way more gorgeous by far. Not even close. Perhaps the C8 Z06 will add all of the extra appearance upgrades that will change my mind. My C7 Grand Sport is way more gorgeous than the C8....for now anyway.

Man, C7 ALL the way. It's a real vette. Curves, front engine, stick shift, perfect interior without all the tv screen gauges the c8 has.
The c7 grand sport for me because its more attainable at this time & good bargains are out there.

I had two C7's (2014 & 2018) and loved them. However, the C8 is a game changer and here for the future!

I was very close to getting a C7 a few months ago. The thing that kept me from doing it, and sticking with my C8 deposit....the interior comparison....no contest! I love the exterior of both!

I'll stick with the C7 Z06 and very satisfied with its classic look. Interested in the C8 Z06 when it comes out but will have to blow my socks off before I trade my C7 with 650 hp and its cold start violence.

I'm partial to the C8, but I absolutely love C7 Grand Sports and Z06's wide-bodies. Torch Red over Long Beach Red any day for me. I have no need at all for the power in a Z06, so C8 (even without Z51 ) I'd be incredibly happy with. As long as it has 2LT! Great vlog!!!!

Just my opinion but the torch red is overrated and way too common. Long Beach Red is a stronger red that goes from candy apple red in the sunlight to a maroonish burgundy color in the shade. Plus not to mention it was a $995 option
I’d really like to know the interior dB readings of both cars at cruising speed.
The C8 looks very exotic. I've seen a few in a showroom environment but yesterday I saw one on the highway and wow it looks amazing! Word's can't describe how incredible this new Corvette really looks. So exotic, balanced and advanced looking.
Michael Grossi I totally agree, GM wasn’t playing this time. They made their statement and now, Corvette is respected more than ever before.
The only reason it looks like an exotic is because Chevrolet showrooms filled to the brim with nothing but SUVs
Definitely a C7 guy, the lines are meaner especially the rear end. Mine will be Artic White so I can SEE the lines. Black “hides” all the lines and curves. And of course black is the hardest color to keep clean. My 2013 Lexus ES350 is a metallic white which I heard is triple coated and never looks dirty

Brink of Speed yes it is ! I only had one black car , a new 1996 Mustang GT, black on black leather w. 5 speed manual. Solid black too. Showed all the swirl marks and every bit of dirt. My last 2 cars have been white and I love it.

Still have yet to see a C8 in person. Since I couldn't order one, I went with the C7 Grand Sport. 1300 miles into it now and am so happy to have made the purchase!
Both are nice. I have a 19 ZR1 so I’m biased to that as I think it looks quite different from other C7.
I look forward to the C8 Zo6 and ZR1 options.

Thanks for showing the side by side comparison. I'm attracted to both C7 Z06/Z07 and the C8. Maybe the Corvette Gods will let me have both someday My first by would be the C7, because I can take it to the Track and all the other fun stuff but on the way home I can stop by the grocery store and fill up the bigger trunk space

Love my C7 LT1 Torch Red. Got on it as I left the park yesterday. Briefly lost control, but lifted and got control back. Scary. All I need. When I see a C8, I always think "Ferrari" or "McClaren", then I see that big rear end and think C8.

I myself haven't seen the C8 Stingray in person. Perhaps I'll run I into one. Currently have a C7 Z06. The C8 Z06 is the one I'm looking forward to.

I’ve got a C7 Z06 3LZ manual car and I absolutely love it. I am saving up for a C8 Z06 but kinda disappointed there’s no manual option for the C8.
I am a c7 person I have to be because there is no trunk space for trips in a C8 as there is in a c7.
I like both the c7 looked super nice compared to all previous gens. C8 is still at the begenning stages and coming from the c7 platform that did well and looks stunning iI wouldn't say it's a huge leap forward as the c7 but it def. has it's own look and a nice wow factor that many will appreciate on z06 and GS models.
Mike I have a c8 HTC on order at Classic, because of you.? I also have a pristine c5 convertible in my garage; don’t know how to even start to compare the two cars. So I won’t. I have a C7 2019, but I like both Corvettes.
I may be biased because I own a 2018 C06, but I prefer it in many ways over the new C8. My biggest thing is the new front ends look on the small size? I preferred the old front end as well as the HP and the sound. While the wider rear end and mid engine may be better balanced with better handling. Very happy with my present ride however so mark me down as a C7 Preffered.

I've had a 2001 C5 Silver, a 2006 C6 Sunset Orange and a 2017 Red GS/Heritage. I've loved them all but C7 is my favorite for sure and will probably have for the next few years. ohsofst.

C8 for sure, and for me a huge factor (though not the only one) is that I want a convertible and the C8 is so much better in that version, with the hard roof. Both C7 and C8 convertibles look great with top down (I prefer the C8's look, but not by much), but with the top up, there is no question the C8 looks infinitely better.

I'm a C8 Convertible fan. Have one on order. Hope to see it in August finger crossed. And it is Long Beach Red like this one. Can't wait to get my hands on it. It's like waiting for Christmas which is a possibility if there are anymore delays LoL!!
C7 GS or Z06 bodies are timeless classics. I like the C8 but wanna wait for a couple years to see what they do to smooth the lines a bit...not much but just a little bit on the corners. Big thing for me is the C7 has a manual option...

Well I have the 2017 Grand Sport with a Z06 hood OEM I bought off a guy. So the car looks more aggressive with the Z hood. But I got to say the black on black C8 really looks exotic! I’m keeping mine for now but I am liking the C8 more and more
C7 definitely has the better looking face. Definitely wouldn't mind owning that Z06 over the C8 Z51.
Why are the brakes on the C8 so small and it being a heavier car?
C7, I like both but I'm a C7 guy...in particular Z06 with Z07 performance package, which I have. I also have a highly modified C6, coupe Zr1 wide body, supercharged and a number of other goodies.
I still like both hard to decide witch one is better for me ..
C7 100%. Z06 (Z07 Manual) all day long.

I think the C7 looks more like it is it's own thing, and the C8 is more obviously a Chevy, which isn't a bad thing, but it does give the C7 something the C8 can't replicate. Anyways, both are iconic cars, last front engine and first mid engine corvette. The C7 charms me more though.

Brink of Speed that's what I've heard so far about the c8s I've seen a few in my area. They look really nice. I just love my manual. I feel if I drive the new c8 I may like it too much.

As a 2019 z06 owner, black on red n black interior, 2LZ with stage 3, I have to say at least now that the C8 is spectacular and exotic, but C7 Z is the nicest looking all around, especially the gorgeous back end and quad exhaust. The C8 looks like it's Trying too Hard. The color scheme favors the C8 though.
I just bought (May 2023) a 2016 C7 Z06 3LZ in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. I'm a C7 guy but do appreciate the C8 platform. Just too expensive with the markups.

Had a C6 Z51 vert upgraded to a C7 Z51 vert. Love them both. That being said I would love to upgrade to a C8 Z51 vert.. They are all great cars, I still miss my C6 but I love my C7. If I upgrade again I know I will miss my C7 but would love the C8.. When it comes to Corvettes, you will never be disappointed no matter what generation you own...

The black C8 to me was the best..I prefer the wheel design on the black C8 then the trident wheel, I’m not crazy about the trident design.
Both are awesome looking cars but I’d give it to the C7 GS, but really like the C8 interior. My opinion may change when I see a C8 in person. Color: Long Beach red in either.
I have a c7 and love it but the c8 is interesting I saw the c8 at a local dealer and saw them at Carlisle and like them both
The C8 hands down, it looks more exotic, it is the first Corvette in recent memory, the people who never considered buying a Corvette is changing their minds, including the young generation, they are flipping out over the C8, it also has better performance, compared to the base the C7? The interior is superior, overall Chevy knocked it out of the park with the C8.

All Corvettes for me! But, C7 for me. I love my C7Z! The wheels stick in too much for me on the C8. Torch red for the win or arctic white.
C8 now because I finally got a build week scheduled again after all these months of waiting from the Strike and virus on. I had a March 30 build week until the virus shutdown and then now I’m at the 7/20/2020 build week! I was shopping a C7 until I got the 3400 status a week ago! Found a GS 2019 at about $55k and then pow checked and had gone to a 3400 at 7/20/2020 on the C8!

The C7 GS has the wide body style of the Z06, and the C8 still looks the best. I would love to see a side by side comparison to the wide-body C8 GS or Z06 once they're produced the Z06 is slated to have the widest rear tire in Corvette history.
A few months ago my brother bought a convertible C7 after I begged him to wait for the C8. He had no idea that the C8 was coming out but wanted to trade in his 6 month old Toyota Avalon. No joke. Now that the C8 is out on the roads he is defensive about his C7. Not only did my brother lose money by trading in the Toyota but the resale value plummeted on his C7 when he drove it off the lot and plummeted again when the C8 came out. Oh geeze. How much money did my brother lose altogether? I don't know but as long as he's happy.
