All of the major goals of Spine surgery is to take the pressure off of the nerves. The first goal is determining what is causing that pressure- disc, bone,or trauma
Three years ago I underwent a multiple cervical laminectomy and I am still not back to 100%. Unfortunately it seems that while hip or knee replacement surgery has evolved to almost commonplace procedure with nearly certain results, we’re still in the dark when it comes to serious spinal injuries. Thanks for this video. Please keep them coming.
It’s unusual to do a cervical laminectomy and no fusion or it’s a cervical laminoplasty. Just a lami may lead to kyphosis. It’s not wrong but maybe an issue
I am old and have a couple of collapsed disks. I agree with your sentiment: spinal surgery is very "iffy" to this day. Because of my advanced age, I don't want to risk surgery to repair my disks, at least yet. I have found that a simple back brace keeps my spine aligned sufficiently for me to function. But who knows what tomorrow will bring?....
@@demef758 I absolutely hear what you’re saying. I recently had another round of MRI’s and evaluation of my remaining pain (three years out of surgery) and the specialists I saw were trying to convince me to get a second surgery. I told them it was out of the question at this point. I’m scheduled to have some injections done to see if that may help but regardless, I worry about the future. I’m 56 now and when I take stick of how I feel, I’m very concerned about what condition my spine will be in 10-20 years from now. I hope whatever decisions and treatment you choose help you to feel better!
You should definitely start doing more videos like that doctor. You set yourself up different than all the other drs. Demonstrations is were all of us not educated folks really get educated pretty quick You rock in Dallas
I had a microdiscectomy about 25 years ago. I had lost the feeling of needing to go to the toilet. And i had a lot of pain. The surgery was amazing and successful. I'm so thankful for it.
From start to finish I was very pleased with my process of getting my back operated on by doctor Donnelly. I’d say I got 80% relief from my laminectomy.
I had a Posterior Cervical Decompression and Fusion on my c4 to c6 by Dr. Carr in Southfield, MI(10-24-2023). Since then I have been looking through the procedures and no one ive come across talked about the tools, until you. As far as the surgery, I have feeling in my left arm again, and my sciatic has calmed down. Thank you to him of course for performing successfully, and Doctors like you for helping so many of us. It means the world to me to have hope for some normalcy again.
Need CD 💿 of X-Rays & MRI. On top of my website (in bio) is link to upload images, FROM YOUR HOME! 🤯🥰 Please email: Spine@TSCspine.com - czcams.com/video/HpKOfI_1FSs/video.html
The tool I have that is just like that is called a "nibbler," because it slowly nibbles away the material you are cutting, usually a metal of some sort.
Laminectomy, this technique is very difficult and requires precision, it is very easy to damage the dura mater below. Thanks for your video! I am a neurosurgery in Vietnam.
Had a vascular surgeon tell me today a city south of you no way was I a good candidate for a anterior fusion 3 level because of prior radiation damage. What are my choices now?
What about microdiscectomy. I know with seeing MRI’s it’s not possible to render a real answer. I am a fan of yours and Jeffery Cantor. But you’re 3hrs south. Nobody down here even knows what a ultrasonic knife is. I don’t want 20 year old surgery that doesn’t work. L3-S1 herniated w/ spurs. Choices of possible techniques? Thanks.
This past april, i had 2 lammys and 2 rods, 4 baskets, and 17 screws put in. I was in surgery for 11.5 hours and was in icu for almost 2 days. Healing up well, but still have a way to go.
Hey Doc, I read a couple comments and I thought I saw one of your videos that you do video calls tela How do you connect with that our insurance and all that . we just need to call and talk to somebody I’m here in Maryland and I have some MRIs discs and reports I’d like for you to take a look at because I had two different opinions already and im a bit confused. One doctor said I had a tethered spinal cord and my recent doctor said I did not. Now that is throwing me for a big loop.
Hey there, I do about 15 new patient telemedicines💻🌎 every week. Here is the best path forward: 1- email your insurance card to Spine@TSCspine.com (We don’t take HMOs or Medicaid, but can private pay, unless Medicaid) 2- if we take that insurance THEN upload your images to my portal for our 1st visit. 3- I must have X-rays and MRI, X-rays are critical! “Just” MRI isn’t enough. Need to be from last 12 months. Nothing older is needed, or wanted. 4- You need to get your CD 💿 of your X-ray and MRI (imaging centers will never send them to us) 5- On the top of my website (www.DonnallySpine.com) is the link to UPLOAD images, from YOUR HOME! 🤯🥰 (or at a CVS with Physician LookUp Code k5037438) 6- To recap: email us, get CDs, THEN upload! Step by step: czcams.com/video/HpKOfI_1FSs/video.html - If HMO you can reach out to a Patient Navigator at www.sonoSpineSurgery.com and they can try to help connect us! I had Lami+fusion one month ago, L and S spine! I had brain surgery just months before, and the spinal surgery hurts way worse! And I had a bleed then a stroke after the brain surgery! So let that sink in the back surgery is the absolute worse!

Can you please comment on this chiropractor in Dallas yanking people spine from the neck with a towel to decompress . Looks really dangerous
Not sure who it is. 99% are fantastic

Thank you for sharing this information 👏🙌
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve had two spinal surgeries. I do not recommend a non-invasive surgery because they can’t see what the hell they’re doing.
🤗
Excellent short!❤❤❤❤
Glad you liked it!
Thankyou for educating us
Yes!!!

Do you record the surgeries on each patient?
No, maybe if a really rare surgery then will take some videos but I don’t have “rare” or “cool” cases (thankfully)

WRONG! A discectomy is where they cut out part of a (bulging) disc NOT the bone.
Yup

Oh yeah.
Ya
Nerve blockers on a bulged disc pressing on nerves have not worked at all. I've been told it may require spinal surgery. Not looking forward to it.
I would personally try the ring dinger chiropractor adjustment first. I have had good luck with this decompression method
Wow
Yes I had that 15 years ago (L4-5) and my back has hurt every single day since. I wish they had lumbar disc replacements then.
Wow
