    I install 33mm exhausts and 39mm to 42mm intakes. The lowering of the port floor and enlargement improve the mid-range power on the NA Fiats. With a blower you don't really need to do anything because the boost will overcome poor port design. If you are racing the car, the ports should be optimized with a flow bench for best overall results. Hope this helps. I also like 55 degree seats for the performance Fiat engines.

    @petarfico - Petar, the port is straight down to the guide and then blended in w/larger (39-40mm) intake valves. I have installed larger valves, but the port velocity falls way off when you do - works good at 10K rpm.

    Thanks for the reply friend, now I understand better the video, I hope to keep seeing more of your work on these fiat cylinder heads. A hug

    @citydriver - On some engines its easier than others, this one can be bored to this size and larger for competition. As you can see I didn't do much else then open the port runner, its a street engine.

    @bmays002 - I'm very familiar with the R1 and R6 heads. I didn't go to a maximum diameter on these ports so that port velocity would remain fairly high, however on full-race engines going to larger ports is a bennifit on this car because of the limited carburetion in some classes.

    @petarfico 27mm stock - 30mm enlarged, I can go as much as 36mm for racing.

    The FIAT UNO and TIPO 1.4 SPI OHC engine has a camshaft that has a lot of torque in the bottom. Maybe an option to keep the street car habit.

    @flyjum - I've done this mod many times before, and it works.

    I have Fiat Ritmo 130 TC abarth and the suction channels are just polished, to which dimensions they would be good to expand? that is for daily drive, sometimes for slalom. Carburettors are solex 40 double

    I thought it is a msitake to make the floor of the port lower, air is now more difficult to negotiate the short turn radius towards the valve seat.

  • @fiatnutz
    @fiatnutz  Před 12 lety

    @goc46 - Just leave it alone, you only port those heads when you install 2-3mm oversize valves.

    @ProjectCarTV - No idea because I didn't measure it.

    What was the diameter before the procedure. And what is the diameter of the new port..Regards.

    @citydriver If you port them real big you increase the the top end power, but you reduce the bottom end power and torque with causes drivability and idle problems and street driving uses more of the bottom end. It will be a pig to drive at best of time with the ports too big.

    Hi John,
    I intend on fitting larger 39mm valves to my 1500 x1/9 what supporting modifications would you recommend for a street car
    Thanks

    I'm about to build my car with turbo preparation and milling in heaven paraece a lid for this type of preparation, it?
    From already thank you very much and I hope your answer.

    is the intake port normally rough finished and the exhaust port smooth finished?

    Hello friend, a query because it does not speak the language, written perhaps asking you to understand the explanation of the video.
    It is a cover for preparation fiat turbo? that brings results sought or with conduit worked well with that little groove?
    Here in our country in acceleration racing exhaust valves are used in 33 mm and 39.5 ADMISSION in, I never saw so with that undermined ducts, brings improvements?

    @fiatnutz so main reason you dont make them bigger is that ya dont want race car performance?

  • @petarfico
    @petarfico Před 12 lety

    @fiatnutz Is it safe to extend the port to 36 mm. and is 36mm the length of the entire lenght or just at the entrance to the port.Here in Croatia people port fiat 1.4 or 1.6 heads to 33 mm intake port at at the entrance and 30-31 mm at valve guide.

    do you use a flow bench or is it just based off how well you know these engines?

    Always raise the roof, dont lower the floor to open a port.....

    • @fiatnutz
      @fiatnutz  Před 9 lety +2

      Tried that, I get better results by lowering the floor, as verified on my flow bench.

    • @4g63mark

      +fiatnutz better results in terms of torque, or horsepower? So on your flow bench did you notice an increase in air speed, or air volume?

      No lo hacen por una simple razón de costos por tiempo empleado ($), directamente de la fundición de aluminio se maquinan las partes referidas a clavar guias y asientos de válvulas rectificando esos asiento para su sellado, todo ésto lo hacen máquinas, rectifucar los planis dd apoyo al block motor y del lado de los manifolds intake/exahust. Un poco de mejora serían, x ejemplo, las versiones R de Honda y otras marcas, so + $. Saludos desde Buenos Aires Argentina!
