They’ve been underserved regarding the quality of content. Further, the other networks involved in boxing lack a commitment to the sport, the fighters and most importantly, the fans. How about Terence Crawford fights Charlo? I believe Charlo has three of the four belts and then an undisputed fight with Tim would be huge. Or how about Terence Crawford fight Devon Haney I don’t know if Devon‘s name is quite big enough, but it would be a nice payday And Heaney said he wanted to go to 147, or Keith Thurman as a stay busy fight and change the strategy from one massive PD to a couple of nice size paydays, or the Charlo fight, and then the Tim fight and that would be a massive payday. just because Charlo didn’t do anything against Canelo doesn’t mean he was stripped of his three belts and being that it is a higher weight class. I think it will get some interest with the rail promotion.

George, I have a question. How often should a professional fighter fight to stay sharp? Does it change with age a younger fighter needs to fight more often or less often? And does it change with the weight division does a heavy weight need to stay as busy as a lightweight fighter? I think this kind of plays into the topic of Terence Crawford, since we are talking about inactivity. Thank you very much Pro box TV, undisputed champion of boxing channels.

Unfortunate for Crawford, not that many dance partners for him in and around his weight class that bring in the big numbers. The only guys I can think of is Tim Tszyu and Danny Garcia at 154 or maybe Teofimo Lopez if he goes to 147.

Ennis nor Lopez offer as much money nor legacy. Very profitable, interesting, excellent fights but not as legacy defining as Canelo, Tzsu/Charlo.

It's not just Crawford. The whole fight game is stalling itself out. I knew like many, who said that when we started seeing the proliferation of PPV's it would limit development of fighters and restrict activity levels. And here we are. Count the next time you see a fighter with 30 fights.

    • @yanassi
      @yanassi Před 4 měsíci

I think ppv came about to pay fighters the money they are now wanting, the money networks are not willing to pay. If fighters think they deserve $10m then ppv is the only way they will see their worth, or what they are not worth. Money demands on every fight has killed boxing as we know it. Stars, like canelo could’ve made it worth it for showtime to continue but canelo avoided too many real challenges the fans wanted to see. Even dazn complained of low viewership of canelo fighting nobodies that didn’t match the $350m they paid him. But that was showtimes fault, they allowed the promoters to have too much control over matchmaking instead of match promotion.

Crawford had 2 years left on his contract when he got the Horn fight (2018), ( Paulie of all people should know how this works). in order to get you have to give. In return Crawford EXTENDED (more than likely part of the deal) his contract for one more year (ending in 2021). Even still the Spence fight did not take place for another 1.5 years after even with Crawford being free agent.

Usually agree with Paulie on his takes. Have to disagree when he says it's Bud's fault for resigning with Top Rank. Why should it matter what promotional company he's signed with, if two fighters really wanna fight they could make a fight happen regardless of promotional companies. PBC clearly blocked Bud from fighting they guys at 147 cause they knew none of them could beat Bud. They could've forced the issue like Porter did but they wanted no parts of him. Spence finally grew some nuts, went around Haymon, hired his own manager and made the fight happen cause he had nowhere to turn and it was gonna be his biggest payday. How was Bud to know PBC was gonna freeze him out when before resigning with Top Rank Spence told him "get a belt first and then we can fight". After Bud beat Horn, resigned with Top Rank Spence created the "other side of the street" shit. Bud fought PBC guys at 140 and we heard no mention of a street. Spence was actively calling out Pacquiao and Horn and both of them were Top Rank. Never heard nothing about "wrong side of the street" when he wanted to fight those two. The problem was never the side of the street, it was the fact that Bud was the guy they could never beat. Had anybody else (other than Bud) held that WBO title PBC would've made those fights happen

Two and a half years ago Errol Spence Jr Defended his IBF & WBC belts, against Danny Swift Garcia 2020, Then he defends the IBF & WBC belts and grabs the WBA title from Ugas 2022.
so from the dates shown, quite clearly you can see Errol Spence Jr, is the sole reason Boots has been waiting for his Crack at the IBF title. Spence didn't have to take the Danny Garcia fight, could of fought Boots.
Boots should have stayed in line and rankings with the WBO, he was next up & Crawford's mandatory, but he chose to pursue Errol Spence Jr and his IBF title route.
Also you can't agree to a fight when you have already agreed to a rematch, sign sealed and delivered. plus all the sanctioning bobies where informed and agreed to this arrangement , everyone was down with it and on board. The fight gets the green light.
11 weeks after the fight you go back on your agreement and stripe the champ.

Great analysis as usual. I hope they will comment on what happened with Spence. Spence's comments about injury before he fought Crawford and his eye surgery sort of took away with how great Crawford fought him and set up a situation where fighting him again put him in a " No Win Situation "! If he beats him again Spence's injuries would sort of tarnish it again. From a fan perspective Spence came off as lying to fans to get a big check if what he said is true. That should hurt the box office if they fought a second time also.

Y’all are calling him the best fighter on the planet but fought a weight drained Errol Spence. Let’s be honest as far as 147 , as far as greatness talent, except for Boots, 147 is soft. He’s duckin boots . And yeah it’s a money duck, Crawford is a bum never fought a true champion in his prime. There’s so much talent at 140 & 154, But Crawford wants to stay at 147 because there’s no real talent there, only boots and he’s too scared to fight him .
Tim Tszyu, Teofimo , Haney, Boots & the Charlos are all around that weight and he still hasn’t secured a fight that’s on him if you say he’s a great you got to earn that title by fighting the best not fighting a drained 154lber & mid guys .
IMO his next fight will probably be a Charlo , they are the weaker of the top names who still have some relevance but are not truly great fighters . They are good but there’s levels to each tiers .

Crawford didn't really get the global recognition he deserved until the Spence domination, which is a shame. I think a big final fight with someone like Tszyu or Charlo would be good and then Crawford can hang up the gloves knowing he fought everyone he could. Crawford was a decade too late to be in the big fights with the likes of De La Hoya/ Cotto/ Pacquiao/ Mayweather etc; it's a shame as Crawford v Cotto/Mayweather/Pacquiao would have been very good.

I hate the situation Boogeyman Bud Crawford is in, due to Spence's eye, but I think he should try to unify one more time at 154. Get a belt at 154, and then ask for a unification. Bud deserves to be 3x undisputed.

Obviously something was wrong with Spence. It's obvious. No way is Crawford THAT good and no way is Spence THAT shit. Crawford has never beaten anybody like that, not even ALL those bums he's beaten. Spence had no power and was clearly weight drained. 147 definitely suited Crawford. That's not no rocket science. A fully fledged Spence beats Crawford. Yes Crawford took the jab away and had a very good game plan and it's not his fault but any unbiased person can see something was wrong with Spence even during Spence ring walk you can clearly tell. Even Victor Conte said Spence had altitude sickness. Now why would Victor Conte say that when he's part of Crawford's team❓️ obviously it's true. These are not excuses.

I disagree with Lopez vs Crawford not being a big enough fight. Bud and Teo would be a massive fight. Why wouldn't it be? Boxing is lazy. Market the damn thing. If the promoters can't promote anything but Canelo then what are they doing? How else do you push guys into that level but to match them up and sell the damn thing. Boxing is lazy. Teo vs Bud is a spectacular fight!

There are a lot of questions about Lopez and even though he would like to be put in the same category as Crawford, he simply isn't. Bud has never lost to a Kambosos and beating Josh Taylor doesn't have the same shine since the Catterall fight. I can't see Crawford sticking around at 147 to fight López who has never fought at that weight. Why doesn't he fight Ennis if he thinks he's so good at 147? Maybe the winner fights Crawford if he doesn't go up to fight Charlo or Canelo

Canelo-Charlo did some serious damage to 147, 154, Tszyu & now Crawford is feeling the effects of that farce.
Despite Crawford being considered best in the world & coming off his biggest win, ironically isn't left with many great options.
Crawford isn't getting Charlo, Caneo OR the Spence rematch, which were his 3 most lucrative fights to be made.
Lopez may be the best opponent & matchup.
Boots is high risk/low reward. Very dangerous fight as Boots is like a bigger, younger Crawford. ONLY major advantage Crawford has is experience. Boots is a huge risky unknown matchup.
Tszyu may give Crawford a big paycheck but it's also a high risk/low reward fight in that Tszyu is still establishing himself but is a very dangerous, unknown matchup.
Thurman, Benn or Virgil Ortiz anyone?
Crawford just doesn't have many great options..especially if he is going to restrict himself to just 1 more "money" fight.

When you look at the timeline vs the PBC roster the resigning with TR had little effect and is overblown by fans, commentators and Bud himself. At most he would have gotten another fight or two, but we make it out like he would have had the opportunity to run through the whole PBC WW roster. Especially when you look at the inactivity, injuries and pandemic. 140 is more of a missed opportunity because everyone was racing to the money division for shot at Floyd/Pac lottery, so the risk/reward carried to 147.
