    I love how these guys just run with something and completely destroy their own argument in the process. 😂
    Listening to these pair on the radio on the weekend with a few coldies was a treat.
    Almost all of their stuff was ad-lib. Geniuses.

      For background, Rookwood cemetery is the largest in Australia. The comment also touches on the community providing for all, even if in a dodgy way, which I feel is Australian (at least in the old days).

    It sounded to me like Australia has been slammed overseas for its Customer Service, and this is their response! It is essential for us to have excellent customer services, tourism is our biggest national earner! 😄👍

    Roy has vast experience in a range of occupations so he's spot on. 🤣Australian customer service is just like your average Aussie. You don't get big false smiles and obsequiousness, but you get genuine, honest treatment. If you're rude, impatient or demanding you'll get an honest Aussie reaction and probably shown the door. I've been known to evict a few customers with bad manners.

      Roy has worked in every single industry there is…lol. I started listening to them on Triple J back when they started and kept following them. Listening to them when they had a gripe against something had me crying. The voices would get loud and indignant and the jokes would just spill over the top of each other. Their chemistry is brilliant. Thank you for featuring them on your show and I’m so glad you get them. 😀

    With Roy and HG the topic they take on is not actually important. You'll that they start on one side of the argument and finish on the other with no acknowledgment of that. It's just the details of the topic where they mine the humour and the creation of the two characters, Roy the expert who has done everything, and HG the one who sets up the scene with real stories and then keeps Roy going as he explores all the extremes of Australian culture.

    They're taking the piss over the survey. Also I've never heard of cocktail called a "Bradman" (ie the famous aussie cricketer) or a "Stackpole" (another famous aussie cricketer)! I travel for a living, particularly to the UK and USA, and the service industry here is no better or worse than those countries.

    😂😂 true Aussie humour. Like anywhere, you get the odd bad service but on the whole, service here is pretty good. I know some people who are so hard to please, and will find something to whinge about - usually in the hopes of getting a free meal, accommodation, etc. We call them professional complainers. 😀

    Nothing worse or better in Australian service. But unlike Americans, Australians treat people in food outlets and any retail as if they are human and deserve respect. Heck, we even thank the bus driver as we get off a suburban bus.

    The tipping culture in Australia was very different back then. Hospitality staff were really helpful and friendly because you would get tipped individually for your service. It didn't go in the pot to be shared with everyone so if you wanted extra cash you really put the effort in. I cleaned up during the Olympics 😉

    • @pyrmontbridge4737
      @pyrmontbridge4737 Před rokem +3

      Plus tipping is not important in Australia as service workers get paid a fair wage compared to overseas.

    I could never really get Roy and HGs comedy, but people use to make out how good they were, probably Prictorians making out how good they were, to me they were nothing special, just hype and you had to go along with the hype, just like sheeples. Clarke and Dawe is much more Aussie Humour that I could relate to, even though Clarke was a Kiwi but he had Aussie sense of humour.

      Funny guys it used to be hilarious to turn off the actual commentatry on live sporting events like the state of origin and listen to them call the game. The fact that you didnt like them is your choice but insulting our mates south of the border probably shows you level of intelligence. No one forced you to go along with the hype just turn it off otherwise I guess all I can say is BAAAA.
