Queen - Tenement Funster

- čas přidán 7. 07. 2009
- From the 'Sheer Heart Attack' album, 1974. Written by Roger Taylor.
Roger Taylor sang the lead vocals. Backing track consisted of Taylor's drums, Mercury's piano, Deacon's bass and May's Red Special guitar. It's a typical Taylor track about youth and rebellion. It also includes echo effects with May's guitar, like in "Brighton Rock". The last couple of guitar notes overlap into "Flick Of The Wrist".
Lyrics:
My new purple shoes, bin amazin the people next door
And my rock n roll 45's, bin enragin the folks on the lower floor
I got a way with girls on my block
Try my best be a real individual
And when we go down to smokies and rock
They line up like its some kinda ritual
Oh give me a good guitar, and you can say that my hairs a disgrace
Or, just give me an open car, Ill make the speed of light outta this place
I like the good things in life
But most of the best things aint free
And this same situation, just cuts like a knife
When youre young, and youre poor, and youre crazy
But oh, give me a good guitar, and you can say that my hairs a disgrace
Or, just give me an open car, Ill make the speed of light outta this place... - Hudba
Yet another Queen MASTERPIECE. Fucking 110% impeccable!
This is real metal From 70’s
One of the first Queen songs I had on vinyl after Save Me. Nice one Roger....
Roger had an amazing voice, i wish he could have sang more in Queen
You are correct sir
Roger sang a lot of heavier stuff, especially during the early days. "I'm in Love With My Car" comes to mind. Heck Brian May sang a few. John Deacon didn't sing much except for backing but wrote some of their bigger hits. This was truly a band.
Only band ever to have each member write a No 1 hit!! Now that's genius and truly a legendary band. Their 70's stuff is stuff of legend. I would be happy to hear only 70's stuff at their concerts with the exception of Show Must Go On. Radio Ga Ga, Another One Bites The Dust, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Under Pressure. More polished version of Live Killers would be ideal for me as am a classic 70's Queen fan!!
.
Best band ever. 4 top blokes at the top of their game. A kind of Magic.
Always loved Roger's writing and singing, try: I'm in Love with My Car also!
Drowse from A Day at the Races. ;)
what a voice Roger Taylor?? great great
Hands down the best vocalist in queen
one of the greatest songs Roger Taylor wrote for the Queen
Drummer has good voice, to my ears one of the Queen's best song.
good queen song, roger taylor wrote and sang a great song. and i would say the hidden gem on the sheer heart attack alum.
+Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum It's never been hidden from me!!
SHA is a solid masterpiece.
If only Brighton Rock was developed to a final song form...
It's my fav Queen's one.
When I was young (about 7) I thought this was a Deep Purple Track. And it's still one of my favourite rockers from Queen...
modern times, loser in the end, tenement funster, i'm in love with my car, sheer heart attack, what a voice!!!!
Juan Docampo freddie sang sheer heart attack i believe
Freddy Mercury sang Sheer Heart Attack, which was actually on News Of The World, but Roger Taylor wrote it.
This album is awesome and this song reminds me of a late friend of mine who loved the song and the album.
This song sounds even better when you hear the bridge into Flick of the Wrist.
I love playing these roger taylor songs (in love with my car, drowse etc...) to people who don't know much about queen and asking them "ok, so what group is this then?" Just shows the range they had as a band!
What an EPIC song! Roger Taylor man.. Queen man.. I was always a Mtal fan but when I discovered this band my whole musical world changed. Still a metalhead but Queen was the greatest band ever existed
Yes
Best Queen track of all time hands down. Wish it had been shown in the film 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
Except that it's only a fragment. ... : (
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!
My favourite Queen song ! If I had to have a fave. It just sums up the whole era in one tune.
The more buried a Queen song is - likely the better it is.
and no auto tune
One of the best...
A classic
Now THIS is music.
🎶🎶I LIKE THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE, BUT MOST OF THE BEST THINGS AINT FREE🎶🎶
i think this track is a testament to the song writing skills of Roger Taylor.
he did superb for sure.
excellent song, as are most of roger's.
Brings me back to the long hot summers of the mid 70s,young and crazy..
Happy birthday Roger!
I still get a kick out of 2:19 - "Young and your CRAY-zeeee.... ;)
same!
... still beautiful
I never forget this LP
I've seen Queen with Freddy six times. good show
+scott hansmann And you still cant spell his name lol
scott hansmann ur lucky
So jealous
Top favorite band
Roger💕❤😍🥰
Banda fenomenal.grande vocalista Freddie Mercury e também nos vocais Brian may e Roger Taylor . minha banda favorita...
grande Queen the Best song
So was "the loser in the end" another great song sang by Roger on the queen II album
Sublime.
wow, i love you tube, a treasure of every kind here.
solo in this song sounds like the combination of solos in 'time' by pink floyd and 'lady grinning soul' by bowie
It does sound a bit like Lady Grinning Soul!
You got that perfectly
❤️
🌹🌹 QUEEN🌹🌹 RIP. ❤❤❣ 19th September 2022 'Rememberance' 'PEACE & LOVE' ✌ MAGHULL. LIVERPOOL. ENGLAND 🇬🇧 🏴
I want my purple shoes! right now!!!!
Hilarious song...we used to laugh our heads off at this one
"most of the best things ain't free"
My cutie pie
"Or just find me an open car
I'll make the speed of light outta this place"
vs
"You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?"
Tracy Chapman's Fast Car
Roger Taylor - The Cross check it out it's Roger's
side band
This is my favorite Queen song, from their third album. And Freddy didn't even sing it!
What do you mean ?Roger and Brian had good voice but maybe this song could have better sung by Freddie
Moja młodość:)
i used to have purple shoes!
Thumbs up if you're young and you're crazy!
roger has the best voive ever, a rock star could ever have .llike rod stewart, but rog sang the better Songs.
I'n my rock&roll 45... haha
to bad roger didn't sing lead more often but in queen its tough
Brian May is very busy on the guitar on this album, in their later work he doesn't emphasize the guitar playing as much as on their earlier work in my opinion, not to say that the later work is worse
Queen. Without. Their THRONE. XXX RIP FREDDIE. YOUR'E BEAUTIFUL XXX ICE- MAIDEN X
I love Freddie but Roger was always my fave, and his drum driven Nazi\s is aan incredible song
Better than Bohemian Rhapsody.
It's Roger Taylor.
Brian may is a god i adore him even more than jimi or SRV
Este album tuvo su historia y por algo no fue de los mejores, aunque para mi si ya que los fortalicio e hizo que produzcan su mejor album que fue A Night at the Opera con su hit principal Bohemian Rapsody.
But queen deid in 1991
November 24th to be exact
this is 1974
Good thought... Brian and Roger do not want to understand this
Queen will love forever.
00:35, 01:00,
this sounds like I'm in love with my car
Great track but was Brian listening to Mick Ronson on Lady Grinning Soul for the guitar solo?
@sylvitarodgers hehe, yes, the purple shoes will amaze the people next door!! hehe
"Just BUY me an open car"
He's in love with that car
Don't look back!!!
Roger s2
So similar to David Bowie.
Really?
I wonder if Queen was using the " Wall of Sound" in this song. Sure sounds like it.
They werent. They were produced by roy thomas baker, not phil spectors crazy ass
0:24 - 0:32 - This part sounds exactly like Pink Floyd's "What's, uh the deal"
+stadniczek man, this is my favorite song from pink floyd . it's from obscured by clouds,no?
Yes, very similar. Great song n album. Almost makes my top 5 Floyd records.
My new purple shoes, bin' amazin' the people next door
And my rock 'n roll 45's, bin' enragin' the folks on the lower floor
I got a way with girls on my block
Try my best be a real individual
And when we go down to Smokies and rock
They line up like it's some kinda ritual

Just heard the Dream Theater cover of this, both are classic
this is when queen were a rock band before all that i want to break free shite
They were always a rock band. On the same album as I Want to Break Free exists Hammer to Fall.
Thanks god there weren't just another rock band.
Zach Johnson Tell that to Hot Space...
Robert Gee and after the I Want to Break Free shit, their next album featured Korgan's Theme and Princes of the Universe and One Vision ... to be followed by another album with Kashoghi's Ship, Chinese Torture, and I Want It All ... to be followed by their final album with Headlong. Go figure.
That is the truth...right
@ZyggieFromJiU no my friend let me correct you...Queen are GODS and dream theater is a great band...one of my favourites though ;)
Kind of sounds like dead black (heart of ice) in the beginning
Roger sounded like Rod Stewart.
or bad neighbor... :D
ICE-MAIDEN XXX
From the third of the three good albums they made, before they went to shite.
@petedorril Somebody actually needs you to explain this to them? Wow, it's worse than I thought. The "dumbing down of America" is officially complete.
Deaky didn't get the cue they were being bad b♡◇♧♡es
