- Persona 3 Reload is an amazing remake that improves the story, the gameplay, and basically everything on all fronts.
Persona 3 has always been a game known for its great story and being the stepping stone for Persona stepping into that different structure with the social links and social sim focus, and Persona 3 Reload improves on it in basically every way, and just like the original, it set a new standard for the series.

Also, re: the bad Social Links. Honestly I think fully voice acting them made them at least kind of tolerable. Like Tomochika. I completely understand why people hate him, and that you have to feed his delusions to progress, but the voice acting makes him more sympathetic.
That's fair. Some of the bad social links were at least a tiny bit more enjoyable. The voice cast did a great job for sure
Voice line’s definitely flesh out characters more, lets you know their vibe based off their tone and personality
Odagiri's english VA Is GOATED it make me enjoy hearing him and care for his character
I don't understand the massive hate imo, there are people like him irl.
I liked that the mc was an enabler for many of the social links bad habits actually. I found that extremely interesting
One of the best decisions Reload did was having Makoto and Takaya have personal interactions with one another.
Takaya is a great foil for Makoto.

Finally, after almost 3 days of crying over the ending, I can say that this is my favorite Persona game. I will always have a special place for p4, but everything they improvised and improved just makes this game a masterpiece. There's only one thing I missed, which was the cameos from Persona 4 that gave a sense of continuity. I think it will take a while for more persona content to come out in general, but I'm happy with what we have now. (Note, I would love a video with the references you find)
Sorry forgot to reply earlier when I gave this a heart! I have a big bias Persona 4 as well that game spoke to me on a really personal level, but damn Persona 3 Reload was just too good.
I’ll definitely consider making a video on everything they took from the movies.
My first Persona was 5 and idk how i missed out on this series growing up so I'm glad i get to experience them updated.
One day people will realize that Femc's route is a massive amount of work, not as simple as changing pronouns and calling it a day. Why anyone expected her at launch is beyond me, obviously she couldn't be. Best hope is for DLC or the "Royal/Golden" version in the next 2-3 years.
I never expected her to be at launch and I am aware of what goes into game development, but according to a leaker that has gotten everything 100% correct and gave the info on the answer DLC, she’s not even planned at all, and that’s the detail I have a problem with.

P3R is my first ever P3, and i gotta say, the story was fucking amazing. I literally cried for 2 hours when i was done. This whole walkthrough was a fucking ride man. The music is amazing too. i haven’t beaten P4G yet, but If I’m being honest, reload is overall number 1 for me. Reload #1 storywise, and maybe Royal is #1 gameplay wise.

I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the game as much as you did! I'll be honest and say I cried at the end too, and I've seen the ending I don't even know how many times over the years haha. I would definitely recommend watching the movies, but if you would like I made an analysis on Makoto based off of the movies which can give some good footnotes on them in the case you don't want to watch them yourself.

Tbh i never understood why people hate the "bad' social links so much. Not everyone in real life is a perfect, good person. Its realistic, it takes all sorts to make the world go round. I think the developers purposefully decided to have you form relationships with characters who dont fit directly boxes of "good" or "bad" people, and some who dont even learn much by the end of the social link. I understand how some peole dislike having to give the "bad" choices just to keep the social link happy and progress them, tbh i understand disliking that 100%, but I just find it funny. Like hell yeah Hidetoshi go off!!
Hidetoshi is by no means one I consider bad I think that one is great. No one in any of the social links are perfect that's the whole point, but there are genuinely some that are just terribly written with unsatisfying conclusions. Gourmet King social link is a prime example of that and it's why I pointed that one out because a lot of the actual problems in that social link don't even get resolved.
He scammed people into joining a cult and that part of the link has no resolution at all he gets off scot free for it, and no I don't deem the rank 9 event adequate enough. The people he affected didn't get their money back and it's just dreadful.

It has nothing to do with the, not being perfect or bad people. Their stories just aren't compelling
@@YandereGogetaYou can Reverse the link at rank 8 only for it to revert back to normal and become rank 9. To be honest, I was trying to deliberately fail the Social Link and found that hilarious and got a tutorial message for it, only for said tutorial to immediately become redundant.
One thing I enjoyed about P3R over P5R is how Tartarus is only at night doesn't fight for your time for social links outside of 2.

Thank you for the video! As someone who first experienced P3's story via P3P's Kotone (FeMC), I think my opinion is pretty similar to yours in that Reload is amazing with all the improvements and additions (and I still love Makoto) but I still wished that they could have included Kotone's alternate route, though I also understand it would take a whole lot of resources to implement.
I just watched your Makoto analysis video before this and I also realised that Reload made some parts similar to the movies! The movies are my favourite portrayal of P3 (excluding Reload, because I haven't seen everything Reload's added yet) so I would love to see a comparison of which scenes in Reload were changed to be closer to the movies' portrayals! Also looking forward to other P3 character analysis videos too whenever you do them!
Honestly at this point I’m really glad to see someone agree with my point on femc haha. When I made this video I really didn’t expect there to be so many people to disagree with that and be happy she wasn’t in the game, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The movies used to be my favorite adaptation of Persona 3 as well, but I think reload takes the cake for me now. I’ve had a few people express interest in the idea of comparing the movies and Reload together, so I’m really going to consider doing it when I have the chance.

@@YandereGogeta I was really happy to hear someone voice out that opinion on Kotone/FeMC not being included in Reload too haha (and not even planned at all, if the leaker is right). I see people keep pointing out the massive work that would be required to put her in (models for Kotone and her exclusive links, having to add a whole lot of VA for her SLs, etc) and I acknowledge that, but at the same time I feel like I should be able to understand a company's limitations while still expressing my wish for more.
I really adore the movies mainly for how they depicted Makoto, and so far I've seen little details on how the movies' characterisation of Makoto have been implemented in Reload, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of this while exploring more Reload content!

Well You probably know this but they're is a mod group making the femcel route a reallity is in alpha right now but they're a making a increíble mod i love the fact they make a new animation just for the mod i can't wait to see how is gonna be in the end (if atlus doesnt took it down)
@@rinrinsignal2022yeah people seem to act like femc fans are unaware of what goes into game development, but I never expected her to be at launch, I just wanted a dlc. I would’ve also been fine with a cheaper, stand-alone game that has femc instead. Kinda like InFamous First Light if you know how that game was. Thank you for the support!

The linked episode are arguably better than most of the party member social links of the entire series. The fact that they happen in fixed periods allows for the characters to reflect on the narrative of the game in a way that social links usually can not. I think they also go hand in hand with the fact that the characters in P3 don't orbit the player character to the extent of the latter games, so having these episodes really highlights how much the cast changes over the course of the story.
I honestly agree. Seeing Junpei’s linked episodes in particular really made me feel like the linked episodes, or something like it, should return in future games.
I hard agree with this video. I've never played any other version of Persona 3, and maybe the lack of FEMC is dissapointing to some. But the improved gameplay, beautiful graphics, fantastic voice acting, remixed music and the many big and small additions all combine together to make this game a certified masterpiece. The only real complaint I have is the stunt ATLUS pulled with The Answer DLC.

I never understood the hate for Tarturus, since I found it exactly the same as p4's dungeons, only they were more straight corridors so I liked them less. People are saying tarturus has improved a lot, but...Honestly, other than a few additions and prettier visuals, it's almost exactly the same to me. Is it tarturus really, or is it that the combat was more of a slog without party control? (I modded FES to have party control, so my experience was different.) I get this is a bad take for most people, I'm just interested to find out what it actually is that bothers people about it. Especially when I see other persona games get free passes for doing very similar things.
Well the thing I disliked about Tartarus mainly was how bland (in my opinion) the actual level designs themselves were. It felt like it was basically the exact same level design on each floor. In P3 Reload each block of Tartarus has very different and distinct properties from each other that are more unique than they were in the original game. The first block of Tartarus in reload is kind of that similar design to the OG, but the rest just feel like they had more thought and effort put into them.
The monad revamp also makes Tartarus so much more fun cause you have the mini bosses every few floors which shakes up the normally monotonous grind since it’s a decent challenge and you get rewarded well for it. The twilight fragment system, the clock ability to level up under leveled party members, and stuff like that also help.
Also the overall combat just helps a lot. The thing about P4 dungeons that made them better for me personally was that they felt like they just had personality. Since they were based off the internal fears of the party members, it was like you were staring into the very heart of the individual and learning more about their fears through the environment, not too dissimilar to how it is in Persona 5, although P4 does this as a smaller scale.
I should’ve gone more in detail about how Tartarus was improved from the original tbh but I didn’t really think it was too necessary at the time, but I hope this gives you a decent perspective of why some people prefer the Reload Tartarus over the OG one.
So far i would say i like persona 3 reload with a few small note for now like
1.the awakening scene when thanatos burst out from orpheus became weird for me because in original thanatos just rip orpheus apart from inside meanwhile in reload it became cartoonish because instead of riping orpheus apart from inside he just push orpheus head to the side and jump out i guess
2.the theurgy kinda bummer when they cut fusion spell from 17 if i am not wrong but that not the main issue for me but i just hope they make Makoto theurgy would look similar to his teammate(where they combine their persona power with their physical attack)
3. why why atlus oh why do you must nerf my favorite character in persona series first of in persona 3 fes Makoto can use all kind of weapons except knife and gun now he can only use singel handed sword and as if that's was'nt enough they nerf orpheus thelos(from what i heard) he no longer has 99 points in all stat once fused and must be maxed manually and last but not least they nerf Elizabeth boss fight to the point that the epic battle feeling you get whenever You fight her in the original game just was'nt there anymore
I’m having an internal battle deciding between playing through new game+ Persona 3: Reload or playing through Persona 5: Royal on a new system. Both are just such great games.

I was about to tune you fully out but remembered "Oh I am supposed to be listening to you not getting into this song." I thought this was a remake of Pesona 3 not Persona 3 FES? I guess I am a fake fan lol. The voice acting got me immersed except when Yukari sighs. Junpei's theugy brings makes me feel a certain way. Junpei over Ryuji in my opinion. When I first played Reload I was like why does Koromaru show his butt to the enemy? Then I realized he isn't it just looked like it. I am just glad the isn't a shift system boss for Persona 3 like there is for 5. I never really used baton pass until then. For me Persona 5 Royal has more stuff to do like minigames like baseball or the video games you can buy. Thanks for the video
Haha the music is really good sometimes i find myself focusing on it more than the things I’m actually supposed to. Also, the game is TECHNICALLY a remake of P3 and not FES, but I mean come on it’s got all the FES content, and the answer DLC is coming soon, so there’s no way this was actually intended to be a remake of just P3 and not P3FES.

I’m apparently in the minority but I still say P5R was better, but that doesn’t take away from P3R being generally the best remake of a game probably ever and still a crazy good game that is understandably many peoples favorite.
Can’t wait to see them give P4 this treatment. Or if the rumors are true, maybe even get a modern take on the P2 games.
P5R is still a fantastic game so that’s a very valid opinion! I wouldn’t say reload is the best remake ever, I think it still goes to Resident Evil 1 remake, but this game is very very close.
I really want them to remake P1 and P2. P4 has aged gracefully and it doesn’t really need it at all, but if it gets one, then I wouldn’t complain.
It's definitely not perfect though. Music is a different genre, new voice actors (some vary in quality), the social link deadline is still tough leaving no room for error, unbalanced persona/fusions, no alternate endings with romance options like in P3P, and still no FemC which changes the game entirely.

I think the reason FeMC isn’t present is because that’s a ton extra voice acting, actors and writing (for new scenes on the latter,) and especially compositions / remixes from portable. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a DLC after how well this game has sold, since they have extra budget to put into it now. I always try to remember that games have a limited budget and it can be hell to expand it due to larger ambition. However, I also see why some people think Reload is missing a large piece of the quintessential persona 3 experience. But as a remake of my second favorite game (only behind Talos Principle 2,) I feel like this is the perfect remake and the best persona experience on the market.
Yeah the reason she’s not in is probably for development time and cost, and I think I should have been a little more clear on the fact that I didn’t expect her to be at launch, but I more so wanted some sort of confirmation of her being dlc later on. I would buy an entirely separate, standalone game at a cheaper price just for femc. If you know how games like InFamous First Light work, that’s kinda what I was expecting for femc.
The only reason I actually docked points for it was because a notable persona leaker confirmed atlus has no interest of plans in making femc content at all for reload, so that really upset me. I do have to agree that reload is more or less a perfect remake, though, and it’s the best persona game for sure even if it isn’t my personal favorite. Thank you for your comment!
@@YandereGogeta Ok that’s fair, I didn’t know Atlus had made that call. I personally don’t like a lot of the changes in portable (not femc herself, mostly stuff like saving Shinjiro and dating Ken that came THROUGH the femc arc,) but as a celebration game for 3 I do believe all fans of 3 should be represented.

@@YandereGogeta I like her but think Makoto’s arc throughout 3 (mostly as portrayed by the movies admittedly) is the most fitting for the game’s themes as a whole. Then again Death of the Author is a thing and I’m never against revising a story as long as effort was put in, which from what I’ve heard the Hamuko route definitely had heart put into it.
I will say P3 has some of the worst social links. But also some of the best. Mutatsu, Tanaka, Akinari, The old couple are the highlights for me
I think Akinari is the best social link in the series, and the Gourmet King is the worst, so I’d agree yeah
I am currently on the later part of december(a few more days till I talk to you know who) and this remake is amazing love the voice acting new personas everything, but I do think fes is better since I feel like the tension of Tartarus is gone from the remake idky but when I play this it feels about the same as p5 (as tension goes) when in fes it feels like you can die at any moment and an obvious old castings were better in fes(besides fuuka and ken those 2 va’s are amazing) and the difficulty is easy when compared to fes. But when it comes to things reload is the definitive way to play p3 by a mile and if this is someone’s first they most likely wouldn’t have the same complaints which is awesome (coming from someone whose finished fes for the first time and jumped straight into reload)
Me personally I think the Reload VAs are just as good if not better across the board. Junpei in particular I was really shocked by I loved him more than the original VAs, and he was one of the best even before. Persona games in general are too easy though I’ll agree there 100%, and I think your opinion that FES is better is valid.
yea the va's are good took me a while to get used to them(especially akihiko) and now that im in the later parts of january ive warmed up to them still not better(besides fuuka and ken) but i do love them better then when i started@@YandereGogeta

Since I heard the remake was happening, I pushed back my first playthrough of P3 to be this game and I wasn't disappointed! Everyone raves that P3 is in the argument for best Persona game of all time and playing it I can see why. The story was slow to start but once it gets going it goes. Im glad that I was able to finish this game and see what all the hype was about
For sure the story can be a little slow at first, but thankfully reload helps with that aspect a ton. You probably made a good call just waiting for the remake to be honest haha. I’m glad you enjoyed your time with it!
Kinda wish we had proper social links for the male party members. My girlfriend and I are playing Personsa 3 for the first time (having played 4 and 5) and its baffling to us that there isn't any for them. I did look up that it didn't have the male party member links in the original and gave it to the female protag but still, suckss
I totally understand where both of you are coming from. It’s definitely weird that they don’t have social links after coming from the later games where they do, but I do think the linked episodes make up for it pretty well. I hope you’re enjoying the game nonetheless!
Tbf, they would have to remove a lot of the old ones, they said it would be faithful and they honored their word, and I think some people would be upset if the old ones were removed, I also think the link episodes make up for it
I agree with everything you say dude! Amazing video as always. The only point i disagree heavily is femc, im so glad she isn't in the remake. Even so, i feel bad for the people who really wanted her and understand why they want her. Im more than willing to agree to disagree and, even if I dont like her, it would be nice to see her back so people like you could be happy.

@@Hazewhite Nah it ain't because of that, well maybe a bit. I think her more cheerful personality is great, it explores another face of depression which many people can relate to. Saving Shinji, on the other hand, really pisses me off, plus the whole stuff with ken is gross. As an alternate route she is great but only that. The story is just way better with Makoto/Minato plus it is as original intended. I wanted for her not be originally in reload so that people could experience for the first time the P3 I knew and loved. Fmc ain't the true protagonist of p3. Tho I admit I like the male MC infinitely more and that's a bias of mine.

in my opinion p3 reload is doing it's best for remake, and makoto yuki as mc is the best representative for persona 3 while femc is not because there are many inconcitencies about her. like how how orpherus became female to mimic femc but thanatos and messiah remains the same. pharos/ryoji still a boy while being inside femc since remember shadow doesn't have genders. so death should be she since thanatos should be mimic femc
Makoto, while definitely the best representation for the game in my opinion as well, doesn’t change my belief that femc should have returned. Like you pointed out there are some inconsistencies with her route, but think about how cool it could’ve been if they would’ve reworked it to be better in reload! They improved upon basically everything else in makoto’s route, so her route having the same treatment would’ve been so cool!

@@YandereGogeta yeah, that's what i thought about femc like atlus really testing a water they never really serius about any female lead. Even sumire from p5 royal the initial plan that to make her femc of p5 but actually scrap it at last minute
I am also happy FEMC wasn't in the remake. Her route is straight up not done properly. For example, Pharos and Ryoji should have been female too because those characters are supposed to reflect the main character. Shinjiro's social link straight up breaks the game. Theodore's bond with FEMC doesn't hit the same as Elizabeth's bond with MC, so it is actually impossible for FEMC to have an equivalent for The Answer.
Ken's social link is a mistake and Ken and Akihiko fighting over FEMC especially after October is extremely out of character for both of them. Junpei's social link also could have been better and Junpei was straight up shafted. Plus it was weird how none of the arcanas for the male party members match their battle arcanas so it feels like they just shoved them in the calendar because.
If you compare the FEMC route to Aigis in The Answer it's very clear how half-baked that route is which is why I don't really understand why people like it.
Your opinion is very valid, but all of these inconsistencies ARE the reason I wanted her in the remake. If they had added her as dlc and actually improved on the things that needed tweaks then her route could’ve been on par with Makoto’s. With how they improved on the lacking aspects of Makoto’s route (I.E the lack of social links for male members fixed in the form of linked episodes), I had full faith they could do the same for her. She needed it more than Makoto even!
The main reason I like the femc route is because I think the social links that her added for her (mainly referring to Saori here) were really good and I loved her personality! People say she didn’t fit the theme of the game which I can see why people would say that, but I really enjoyed playing as her, and her dialogue options were really fun.
@@YandereGogetaYeah if they put her back in I hope they actually take the time to fix her route and make it work properly instead of trying to retrofit it into Makoto's route.
I heard the game is really easy, like even braindead on normal. Is it true enemies don't do things like targeting weaknesses unless you're on merciless?
They'll hit your weaknesses but not as often as it would on Merciless. Even on Merciless this game is the easiest game in the series though besides maybe Persona 5 Royal. Persona has never been a series for challenging gameplay unfortunately
@YandereGogeta Thanks for the response. I usually play SMT games on normal difficulty but you're right Persona games are easier. Maybe merciless is the way to go on this one.

I… kind of feel like I‘m missing something. I had never played any other version of Persona 3, and I‘m not yet finished with Reload, but from everything I‘ve seen so far I get the feeling that this might end up as my least favorite main Persona game.
The story and thematic underpinning seems pretty thin and with long stretches of no progress, the characters are often weak, the Social Link system seems to be in its infancy, there’s not a lot of places to visit around town, Tartarus is still kind of boring, and even the music fails to really grip me.
It’s like there are glimpses of how great modern Persona was to become scattered everywhere throughout the game, but it’s ultimately still just a prototype, a blueprint.
In terms of storyline, Persona 2 is still the best by far. In terms of characters, Persona 4. In terms of gameplay, Persona 5.
And dare I say, I even found the original Persona more intriguing than P3. Although P3 is of course still a good game.
Honestly that’s a fair take. I might not agree with you but I can see where you’re coming from. That was something I heard a lot before reload, and honestly I agreed, but in my eyes reload fixed a lot of the issues I had with the pacing, the story at large, and the gameplay. That’s just me though personally of course
I actually think the moon social link in 4 is the absolute worst. Moon characters are always insufferable.
I gotta disagree with that. Ebihara was one of my favorite social links in Persona 4, and I think Mishima in P5 is overhated I don't think he's a bad character
People hate on Mishima because he’s an incredibly accurate example of what happens when somebody who’s never had power before suddenly obtains a position of authority without any real oversight (AKA “Reddit Moderator Syndrome”). The real issue with his social link is that we can’t give him a noogie or something so he’ll stop being such a dork earlier on.

She is canon it’s just a different timeline (shown in Persona Q2), and even if she isn’t that doesn’t really change my opinion on whether she should come back or not
