This is not a submarine, but the Titan, is a, Cyclops-class manned submersible.
But,what's the difference between the two ?
The primary difference between a submersible, and a submarine, is that the submersible is launched from a mother vessel or home vessel.
They are typically launched on a raft or platform, which is placed into the ocean! and ultimately descends via four electric thrusters, which helps it to reach speeds of around 3 knots.
But a Submarine can dive underwater, without any external equipment, and surface all through the process of buoyancy.

I just love the depths this video goes to
Thanks man we tried our Best
There is no point in understanding its engineering. It was stupidly designed and killed people. No one approved this design other than that stupid company.
good pun
Try harder. Implosion is NOT "exploiding from the inside".
@@Yhrstv Try harder. Exploding, not "exploiding"🙂
You guys forgot to mention the hull was made by a carbon fiber composite, instead of an alloy of metal, which James Cameron said to not be reliable enough. Not criticizing, superb video as always.
Yes we weren't sure about it so we left it blank.
@@Aitellymaybe if you have time you can revise your materials to reflect this critical design feature?
The interior hull was carbon fiber, but the outer hull was titanium.
You're right. Carbon fiber's strength is in its ability to stop expansion or stretching. It's weakness is stopping compression (crack, crack, BAM!).
Also made with titanium, it wasn’t 100% carbon fiber
Wow! I can’t believe you explained that so well in less than 8 minutes and with that animation even a 3yr old will understand. This is amazing 👌🏼😊
That was the goal - Glad you liked it!
@@Aitelly I enjoy every minutes of it... keep up the good work...👍
1:35 the vessel is pretty small thats WHY it can go to such great depths
3:47 1 knot is 1,852 kmh or 1,15mph - so 2,3 mph are 2 knots , or 3 knots are 3,45mph
6:30 an implosion is a suddon collapse of a structure under compression, and not an explosion from inside
but nice animations!
Thanks for the Feedbacks
Thank you jonas, for your information.
6.30 (correction) Implosion means exploded from inside the submersible.
@@pushpajayesh implosion does not mean it exploded from inside... what are you even saying
Implosion means it got crushed from the outside in

Yes, but guys dieing💀🗣👍🏿
Bro they really be using gaming controllers to operate subs now 💀
Yes they they did
A wireless games controller. Technically a games controller is fine, but wireless and stock is a bit odd.
That problem that it's wireless anyone who own a game know what it's like when you lose power you crash into wall in racing game or got shot at by everyone in shooter imagine what a disaster it would be when you lose power driving a drone
I really don't understand the problem here. Quality gaming controllers are rugged and they work great! The only issue here was the wireless. It can introduce a whole slew of problems.
@@littleponygirl666 I don't think I would call them rugged. But I would assume they will do the job.
I mean as an input device they are great, because everyone can use them very quickly
Imagine people actually got into that thing and were like..".ok cool, lets go down to the bottom of the ocean." - Dude was a slick salesman. Great animation as always.
No, they just didn't think he'd be stupid enough to get in his own sub if it wasn't safe.
they signed up for it
You're right.
Titan's hull was made of carbon fiber instead of industry standard metallic. Viewport was certified to 1,300m depth. Titanic rests at 3,800m. Ocean Gate played Russian roulette with each dive. Not a matter of if but when.
I’m surprised it even made the dive once honestly.
I'm curious if they just didn't realize it was rated for 4000 feet ... and not 4000 meters
@@colbert6122 Could be ! I had a professor who HATED the crappy "imperial" measures because it cost him a bridge and brought shame due to confusion in rebar size by the contractor. Stupid gauge, fractional inch etc....
I doubt it was the glass, if the glass had broke wouldn't the rest of the vessel have remained intact?
Passenger hull was made of carbon fiber instead of industry standard metallic. Bonded to titanium caps on both ends sealed via epoxy and galvanization prone bolts. Those facts alone should give pause before allowing human transport.
This whole thing looks rather slap dash. I can't believe anyone actually got into it, and wasn't at all surprised when it sunk.
You’d be more surprised if your submarine didn’t sink

@@Aitelly that’s amazing . I tried to model a Japanese style building last year and it took over a week 😭
You mean the sub? Lol...sorry.
Even if for some Miracle they did not die in an Implosion and are just floating somewhere, they will still die from suffocation because the damn door is bolted with 18 bolts and can only be opened from the outside. Engineering at its finest baby, not even Tony Stark can design such a brilliant device. :)

The attention this a got worldwide is perplexing. Last week 300 people drowned in the Med sea and nothing is has been said since.

phenomenal acting and dedication to their roles, congratulations to the whole titan crew for their oscar worthy

I completely agree. About as believable as this video
Ah yes, the government faked the deaths of 5 people and sent an entire crew of people out into the middle of an ocean to destroy a submarine for no reason. How and why would people stage this? What's the message their sending to the world? That the Titanic is secretly an underwater military lab controlled by the evil Europeans?

He cuts corners
@@Aitelly he did indeed!
Insane animation, well done and thank you for this explanation
Nice model.
I can't imagine the force with which the nose of the sub must have shot through the hull like a piston in an instant as it blew the tail section off and ejected the liquefied human remains like a gruesome sneeze! ):
It is unlikely that the glass broke. It must be either the frame itself or the seams of the unit that separated with fatigue. The heat and compression would have jellified the people while the metal/carbon parts were still shattering and rolling.
This was a good informative video thanks for putting this together!
Always welcome
This is more than a usual education teach in school. Very informative.
That was educational and very detailed on what could of happened.
I’m pretty sure “implosion” means the hull failed and was instantly crushed by the tremendous water pressure at deep ocean depths (instead of “exploding from the inside” as is stated in the video). Great explanation of the submersible nonetheless
Amazing & Very Informative. You guys are doing an amazing job ❤
Thanks produced the video in 2 days with 2 Animators
It must be a kind of eerie feeling just being on the surface above the wreck, knowing the drama that unfolded during the Titanic sinking.
I was actually waiting for a 3D explanation video like this on the Titan
You guys put a lot of effort into this, much appreciated!!!
Of all your scenarios, only one (which proved true) was the catastrophic implosion. It was not the glass in front but the total failure of the carbon fiber hull. CEO knew that it was not the material to use in the submersible but used it anyways. He refused to work with submarine-subject matter experts in design, chose to use a wireless maneuvering system with no backup, and refused to get it certified before deployment as a tourist trap. It is an industry fact that carbon fiber becomes weak and brittle after multiple excursions to depth and when exposed to cold. Ask any hiker that uses carbon fiber trekking poles in the snow...prone to shatter.
The Titan was a total FUBAR from the word go. It is a shame the families will get nothing since everyone on board signed a (kill me) waiver. I just hope that US/Canada will be able to recuperate funding for the rescue through liquidating OceanGate Corp.
Agreed - We made this video yesterday and the Prees Release came out today - So Improvise
Minor detail, as I understand it, the viewport was made from acrylic, not glass.
@@DanielTaylorOCMD potatoes, potatoes... you are right, viewport was not point of failure.
So by this it would a type of fatigue??? On the upside the five died instantly
They could still sue despite the waivers

6:30 "An implosion, which means exploded from inside the submersible."
I had to pause and wince there. That literally just described an explosion and contradicted it. Isnt implosion the concept of collapsing or squeezing an object rather than blowing something apart like an explosion??
This was very helpful to understand the Oceangate Titan!
the pressure was so powerful when the vessel imploded, it was like a lightning strike. they didn't even knew what hit them
Still can't believe they let this thing reach the ocean floor with one of the thrusters on backwards.

since the hull was made of fiber glass, wouldn't the implosion cause it to shatter and probably pulverize due to intense ppi?

Um it was made of carbon fibre. Not fibreglass. And yes, it would have shattered under the pressure. Carbon fibre is very brittle.

Not gonna lie, I had a momentary brain lag when after showing the remains of the Titan the F-16 interior suddenly appeared on the screen out of nowhere
🤣 Guerrilla marketing I guess
Me too! Left me confused af
Is there another way to visualize the implosion of the carbon fiber tubing? It was implied the tube broke into many pieces instead of being crushed like a soda can
We can re Animate if we have more time- but now we're a little Burntout the last couple of days
It isnt metal, composite breaks suddenly plus the implosion leads to the pieces getting smashed together than rebound, compressed air heats up, burns everything, dieseling effect ....
The whole credit goes to well organized animation 👌 keep it up.

@@Aitelly I'm sorry I was just being sarcastic. I meant it like, I'm sure the owner told people it was capable of doing that, but it didn't work out because he took cost cutting short cuts and it got himself and others killed.
They did about 50 test dives down to the same depth as the Titanic, before they ever went to the Titanic. He also has other models of this that don't go down as far and he's used those many, many times and taken people down in them. The guy wasn't foolish, he didn't want to die!

As well as the 30 migrants who died when a ship capsized the other day that pretty much no one talked about.
At first, when I heard they paid 250k for a trip, I imagine the submersible would have seats like a mini airplane/helicopter kinda thing. I’m very used to the imagery of a giant submarine used in military because I know the ocean is no joke. When I finally saw the news and the photos of this incident, I was so surprised. It looks like something you would pay to watch coral reef or swim along side dolphins, not to the bottom of the ocean. When the CEO describes how it works using a game controller, I actually lost it. I’m not a scientist but judging how it was made, no way this thing is safe enough to withstand the deep ocean.
