I did 2 benches with arm rests for my firepit area. They cost 41.00 each. You won't find good outdoor furniture for that price that will last like these will.
Gud Girl Dawn. Well done. Respect. They Comfy?
Are they stable

Hey guys! If you are looking for a concept seat for your garden and home, please check this product, this great product with a special discount can be yours today..! amzn.to/3emZCYb
Dawn how did you do that?
I just completed this project and would like to suggest the following tips: 1) 1 row of the blocks that form the base of the bench should be half (4 in. wide) blocks. This will make the bench equal to standard chair height. A base with a height of 3 regular blocks won't allow the average person (especially shorter people) to be able to comfortably rest their feet on the ground. 2) The blocks that form the backrest should have the flat side meet the base, so that more surface area with adhesive can bond the backrest to the base. 3) Adhesive definitely works, provided you use the right one. I use Sika landscaping block adhesive and the bond is super strong. However, if you are still weary of safety, you can use 4" c-clamps to reinforce the joint between the backrest and bench. 4) Three 4x4s are enough for the seating (5 total). The 4th one for the seating isn't really necessary unless you plan to use cushions for the backrest (to keep the pillows from falling through). 5) Use the best side of the lumber for the surfaces of the bench. Sides with splinters will slowly tear up your cushions.
How long was the 4x4’s
Thanks for sharing 🤩
@@joelthomas4294 looks like 8ft to me.
@@joelthomas4294 I know I was thinking the same thing. If a standard 4×4 is 8 feet I would prefer to do a smaller one. I'd make 2 smaller chairs instead of one larger one
Hi! I'm just reading your post. Do you have any pictures? (6 years later, LOL)
I was staying at a Air BnB in Amarillo Tex couple years ago.
They had the same design set up bit they had painted the cinder blocks orange & black and the ends of the wood did not stick out of the ends, it was beautiful....
I am going to build this, but I'm going to make it a little narrower or used longer four by fours and push them through so they make table on either end. 😁
Did it work out for you?... the table at the end sound amazing
@@letstalksuccess580 LOL, not yet. Been busy working on a shed and a bunch of other things. When I do I will build three go around my big fire pit 😁
Yes and make a video please 😊
You make this look SUPER easy. Finding the cushions would be the hardest part
Any local foam shop should easily make you custom sized cushions.
I had some 4x4's and brick laying around so I built this and it holds up just fine despite those that think it's unsafe. I weigh 280 lb and purposely leaned all my weight on the back and it held just fine. So many haters!
Really that's crazy I was wondering that I'm glad you spoke up I was trying to figure a way to anchor it better thanks
Thanks.
Even Ikea Funiture Holds Up If Not Used For A Jungle Gym & Rock wall 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
So many haters, absolutely!!! Be nice folks!!!
Thanks for your coment,I was wondering if they can hold my weight..lol
You have no idea how helpful this is for me
I just complete this project and used construction adhesive. It looks great in the space I have been wanting to do something with for the longest time.
WOW,this is SIMPLE and BEAUTIFUL,thank you very much sir!❤
I love this idea. For me, with my short legs, I think it would need to be one block lower, but apart from that - awesome looking fun bench. Thanks for sharing.
Best for the Garden I plan on making just that and a 6 foot length
I think a shorter bench would be appropriate, or add a center. Everything is about balance, things last longer, it will not brake , but with time the weight on it plus weather will make an impact on durability. Thank you for showing folks beautiful and great things do not have to cost a fortune!!! Be well, be safe, best regards!!
my dad built something like this a few years back. still super aturdy and works very well
Great idea.....I think i'll use mortar instead of adhesive, lay the blocks as you would normally as building a wall, so half blocks needed
Thanks for the idea, I thought I would have to pay someone to make a bench but I don't anymore:) and I already have the blocks
It looks great, I’m forwarding this video to my husband. Hopefully he can create it 🤗
I’m doin this tomorrow..might make a vid and post it to you tube
Just bought the material! Super excited to make it
Tried this.. it's beautiful didn't go as high sits lower now trying to find some cusion to fit !
I love the video and step by step instructions. I got all the materials and I'm super excited about putting it together. Thank you for sharing your idea.
I added one of these benches to a park nearby that only had 1 bench to sit on. I hope it'll last before anyone tries to remove it.
This actually looks really good adding to the to do list! 😍
I just bought the material, it cost me about $140! Not bad whatsoever
Tried this one...lasted for a while. Really good idea
I was SO about to make this. I love this idea! Cheap cool and comfy! However, I realize this would be a pain during hurricane season to remove off the patio :(
You don’t have to remove it 🤷🏽♀️
FLIPANTE, MUCHA IMAGINACION Y MUY SENCILLO Y PRÁCTICO, BESIS DESDE ESPAÑA👍👍👍👍🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
Looking good Adam
This is genius! I need to build a few of these! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Muy bueno y muy simple d hacer!! Muchas gracias, saludos desde Argentina.
That’s one of the coolest things I have ever seen thanks for sharing
Just made one with the verticle back and used a waterproof goop located at my local ACE. It is solid as a rock.

I can't wait to do this.
definitely a family summer project!!!
Thanks for the Info: I can even make this myself and it looks GREAT!
This looks cool
Ive been wanting a new bench forr my Mama's graveside.
Im just too slow to remember what I need
Thank u for this wonderful video. I am going to try this dyi in the morning
We are definitely going to do 2 for the front yard under our tree.
Amazing idea! Thank you so much for sharing this. This is easy enough for someone little like me to do. Mahalo🌈💕🌍
I’m gonna make it ❤️
This is our project for the day! Thank you!
Wow it look nice.. easy and simple.. love it so much
The blue looks more like liquid nails to me...you can stick anything together and it's not coming off..there's also construction adhesive..also very strong..i'm going to build this..it's lovely
thanks for sharing this highly appreciated some people are ungrateful fools
I love thoes benches they are cheap and easy to make.
Drogi temat zwłaszcza te kantówki
Beautiful. I'm building one as we speak. Love it
Суперидея! Спасибо! Всё ясно без перевода. Здоровья и успехов!
I love this idea, now how do you keep the beams from shifting horizontally ? Any ideas ?
I thought the same as some of you. The backrest wouldn't hold if someone leaned against it. Some metal brackets front and back would make me feel safer, or just leave the back off, then no-one would lean on it. Good idea though
Being creative ✨️
I can't wait to do this 😍
I really like that, am going to do me one or more.
Exactly what I needed.
This is so awesome!! I'm making a backyard set!!
Easy n nice looking
It's the furniture I want. I like wooden furniture.👍
I like it.
Adding one to my yard today. Nice work
This is really really cool
天才!
すごい!!
vi muchas idioteces..pero este se llevó el premio!!
Should we also glue the wood 4 by 4 in cinder block as well? What for the leaning, they are not 4 by 4 and something thinner and lighter?
Very nice idea thanks 👍🏻
Beautiful
OMG, this is so creative and fun!!!
Awesome idea very very clever
great idea, easy any one can do. thanks
Just finished making this; definitely needs something bigger than 4x4’s unless you enjoy huge gaps for your butt to fall through
I would use 4 pieces of all thread to hold it all together. 2 holding the bench seat together and 2 holding the back secure to the bench.
good idea was thinking the same thing
WTF😱 genius!!!!im doing this shit 2morrow
Thanks I'm building today .
It would be nice if you told us how long those 4 x4 are. And what is the distance between the end pieces
Definitely agree🤔
@@heGifted Buying guide says 4*4*8 - Eight feet long
Nice one
Very good. Excelent idea. Thank you.
Nice Project, Some comments are really nasty, if you going to insult people, don't WATCH IT,
jenny valdez if its crap, he needs to know
Chase Miller 😂😂🤣🤣
jenny valdez. Really!!
jenny valdez Dont show up on our feeds every freakin day...lol. They do make a point about the unsturdy back part. Screw it, bolt it down and u got a winner.
You just gained a subscriber!!
my, if that is where you live, it sure looks nice.. thank you for sharing...
Great Great Great 👍👏Job
I can do this
Thanks 😊
Clo 💚
SO NEAT IDEA THAT WILL LAST LONG TIME--CAN PAINT IT TOO....
Thank you , for showing how is been done :))) i love this bench :))))
everyone keep saying use cement! it's Mordor or (mud) that you use for block cement is for walls and floors
Nice brother
Nice bench thnxs for the vid.Building one now.
It can probably be made without the back, like a lounger bed.
Really excellent bro
good job, I loved it. I'm building this one. thank you
Que legal! Vou fazer na minha igreja, vai ficar show!
I would use cement to bond those bricks. instead of that glue..
Rene Guerrero
ciao
Good Idia
I love the idea
That's excellent!!!
This is where Amy Slanton got the idea.. nice!
Really good idea my friend thank you
If folks don't know how to sit properly on any type of furniture that their little red wagon to bear. Great Job!
😂😂😂😂😂😂truth!!!!
Awesome
Hi. I have a beautiful old metal headboard with the bottom poles sticking out, and thought i could put those through the blocks. If i built up the back with blocks i think it would stabilize the back.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
very good
Cool and easy idea, I only wonder if moving the upright cinder blocks forward about half a block would allow you to reduce the number of 4x4's needed. Also I would use a adhesive made for porous material like concrete or maybe go for mortar. The only other thing would be to increase the upright blocks strength, if you moved them forward you could use the ledge and maybe a half block as support or cut some lumber into a support brace and using the adhesive attach it. A couple adjusting metal straps would work really well if you had them available. I noticed it moving a bit in the video but I chalk that up to, they shot it in one day just for demo purposes and didnt let the adhesive cure. Go the extra couple bucks and use split face and hit it with a stain and water blocker. All and all a good starting point idea and open to a lot of versions. I bet a couple of bond beam blocks on the ends, knock out the center and you could make a planter for the ends. Lose the back all together use split block on the ends and standard ones in between and you could run this around a patio and turn the block areas into planter for flowers or herbs and things. Hmmmm
Great 💡 ideas
I love it!!!! Thank you
I suppose you could use concrete to stick them together, looks really good .. now I gotta find myself those blocks lol
It's simply and great 🌺🌺🌺
Nice 👌
