2024: I considered something like this and the price of blocks were about $7 each so would be around $80 for the block alone. I didn’t even bother with the price of the lumber after that.

I'm replacing three old stringers and the top step does not come flush with the deck, it starts down an entire step. Because of this, I have to build a skookum header out of 2X10 material. My challenge is the run measurement. I'm using two - 5/4" X6 decking pieces for the treads. I'm trying to do all the measuring myself instead of just tracing the old stringers because they are not that accurate. To know where to measure from and to is where the math doesn't add up.

I tried this with my pecan trees they just stood on the bottom of the tree and shot right past the aluminum.

That is exactly how I stack my firewood here in Oregon. But I have to admit that I did build several 4’ x 8‘ firewood crib shelters, open on each side with the roof with a 24” overhang on either side. Stacking in the crib I don’t have to always interlock the ends anymore. But yeah when I’m free stacking I do interlock the ends. I’m super picky about the pieces that I use on the interlocking ends. The two on the outside need to be higher than the third piece he put in the middle because when you stack your next row, if the middle piece is too tall it makes the stack unstable because in makes the next layer too wobbly.

I can't wait to do this.

You set up the pieces wrong. The closest squares to the far right, A8 and H1, should always be a white square, and the queen always goes on her own color. Also, a bit of a nitpick, but you were about to take his rook, not his castle. Castling is a move. The important thing is the proper setup of the board/pieces, otherwise gameplay gets thrown off. Sorry to be that guy, but OCD. 😂
