Fun fact. The charm that gives you running speed looks like the striker. In the old re4 there was a glitch with the striker that made you move and shoot 1.5× faster.
They should’ve named it ‘the Ditman’
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
The fact that the Ditman glitch is that well known that the developers gave a little nod to it is really awesome.
ditman
Ah yes, the ditman
We should not take this era of Capcom for granted at all. Their consistency over the last 5-6 years has been absurd.
They're truly one of the last companies who actually care about the fans and listen to feedback rather than doubling down on their decisions.
I know re3r got a lot of flack, but I loved it, beat it in 70 mins on my last play through but I thought the overall game was a better game structure than re2r, really hated the re2r sewers
Only bad game was re3 tho
@@btsskins5557the game isnt bad though, everybody complains that its short cause they want more of it
And then they make a fighting game and ruin that consistency.
I love how Charlie says the puzzles were braindead, meanwhile Jerma spent like 20+ minutes in the hexagon pieces puzzle and needed Chat's help lol
my first playthrough was on hardcore and most of the puzzle solutions are different (and harder) and that hexagon puzzle was definitely hard but not nearly to the point of Jerma's struggles lol. Every puzzle was brain dead before and after that, until I got to the fucking power node puzzles on the island - I am on NG+2 and i STILL don't actually know how to solve them. I accidentally bruteforced each of them on my first playthrough, and had to look up a guide for my 2nd playthrough lmao those things sucked ass. They are significantly easier on Standard/Assisted though lol
@screeeeeeem I just bought the game yesterday, I'm playing on standard tho, hopefully I won't pull a jerma lmao
@@Valtorias I am doing an NG+ standard run and the hexagon puzzle was braindead easy, just think slightly harder than Jerma did and you'll get it lol
Oh you sweet summer child, everyone knows that jerma doesn’t exist. /s
He made a few wrong moves didn’t he? Which prolong the puzzle even further. What he should’ve done was just reload a recent save and redo the puzzle again. The puzzle can be done with 2 correct moves on assist/standard in less than 10secs if only he did some little thinking.
Leon just mag dumping into people mid-monologue was a fantastic new touch. A very Leon thing to do.
"You talk too much."
Proceeds to blast Salazar in the head.
My man was annoyed
He also blasted Saddler no questions asked, and also blasted Mendez. It didnt work, but at least this León doesnt fuck around and wants to get the job done. I like that.
@@alexferrier5732 he lives up to the trunks hair
Remake Leon full John Wick. But sadly, they removed "No Thanks, Bro." Line but instead they use it as achievement after you defeat Salazar.
Also, I prefer the OG Salazar where he is an old man in child's body with annoying voice while Remake Salazar is Bilbo Baggins when he got possesed by the Ring.
@@margarethmichelina5146 i think he is still a old man in a child's body it's just his hair looked like he live in the year 1700
One thing I like about Leon is that he’s an actually decent person. He’s not arrogant (even though he LOOKS like he would be). Same goes for Ashley. There’s no manufactured drama between them. The original developers could have easily made him snarkier toward Ashley and they could have made Ashley more of a spoiled brat. But they didn’t. There’s no douchiness that’s meant to pass off as interesting character traits (looking at you, Atomic Heart and Forspoken). No quirkiness just for the sake of it. It’s just a guy on a mission, fighting for his own survival, and trying to rescue Ashley and keep her safe. And they’re both more human because of it.
and then Leon doesn't even take advantage for some "overtime." truly a Sigma male gentleman.
@@Libreom truly a sigma move to have a basic sense of self-control lmao
@@Extreme11 in this day and age, yes. but i wouldn't really say it was "self-control" you're putting like a rapey connotation on it. Ashley comes onto him. and any average guy would definitely say yes to some pooty tang after what they went through.
Exactly well said. They did Leon great in this remake.
Idk I do kinda like the original leon a lot more, he just had more charm to him
The fact that I feel like I would only need one hand to count my problems with this game tells you how much love they put into it.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
Easily the best game I've played in years
@@p-__ are you okay mentally?
Literally only problem I had was Ada’s voice idk she just sounded bored
And a lot of the things Charlie mentioned aren’t actually things that happen lol. All the original goofy quips are there and I believe they even added some more that happen during combat.
Nobody ever mentions the music. The music in this one was spot on. Every time you fight the music just pumps you up the right way. Gives the rush. And it stood out from other games for that.
Definitely felt it during the cabin house level lmao, shit got intense then hearing the crowd of ganados outside chanting towards the end lol
those refrigerator music gave me nightmare
Yep soundtrack was good. I tried playing with og soundtrack but switched back immediately
My only complaint with the music is a small one. In the double Garrador fight when I was sneaking around, the music would intensify making me think I alerted them when I actually didn't
@@TAMAMO-VIRUS They heard stuff from the other enemies
I love the +8% movement speed charm being the Striker shotgun. There's a popular glitch in OG RE4 called the Ditman glitch that allows you to use the Striker to boost Leon's speed by x1.5. The bonus speed on the Striker charm is such a nice nod to that.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
Glad someone else noticed that
They have so many nods to the original, it’s amazing
Just scrolling through the challenge menu, you can spot like 300 references
I've always loved how Campy the acting and writing was in the Original games, While the acting has gotten better, the Campiness stayed, Leon still drops cheesey one-liners, and I love it, they kept the Humor and levity while making the gameplay SO MUCH better.
"I'll give you a holy body"
I think this remake tries its best to walk the line between being as cheesy as the original and being a survival horror game in the same league as something like Dead Space. I'm sad half of the memorable lines are cut out like Luis calling Mendez "The Big Cheese" (although its referenced in the achievement for killing him - Grilled Big Cheese) or all of Leon's interactions with Salazar... but if they included them in a 2023 release then this game would have been memed to death. They make up for it though with some of Leon's newer lines (although not as memorable as the classics, if they're not direct quotes from the original) and they also kept things in like the suplex. I was happy to learn that Leon suplexing cultists in the Spanish countryside lives on.
"is that your true power? I'd ask for a refund" 💀
“i need to cut this date short. it’s not me, it’s you”
"Nighty night...knights" 😂
Ashley be like hmm today i will be kidnapped over 50 times
Ashley is into it or something

Should I get 2 or 4?
@@Malik.24personally i’d say 4
@@Malik.24 2 is much more scarier, but 4 is more enjoyable
@lmao9526 I've never seen it that way kinda true gotta say
I love that for the most part it takes itself seriously, but Leon also still has campy ass lines between cutscenes and is okay cutting off a monologue by capping a guy. They did a good balance
Yeah, a lot of the wacky campynes is in regular gameplay
I agree. They found the perfect balance of being silly during some moments, but grim during others. The game knows when it needs to be taken seriously.
RE4 with stealth mechanic is a welcome one, as it adds gameplay variety mostly for a survival horror genre with resource management, and depending on how you want to tackle faced situations.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
I really enjoy that they actually gave the player opportunities to use the stealth system instead of just tacking it into the game with little support. Some sections were more tense for me because of that, especially towards the end with tougher and more varied enemies to consider.
It a good add to this remark I am going to re play it it my favorite remake
It's slightly similar to lou2
Nah not really, it's like Sekiro stealth, you can't kill all the enemies via stealth
i really liked Leon character in this game it really shows the difference between him in re2 and after the gruesome training he went through
The one liners still made me chuckle! I think they did a good mix of campiness and was glad to see it take a litte bit more of a dark direction and as you said you can still feel the DNA of OG there.
They took out too much of the silliness like the cop in the beginning asking Leon if he forgot his make up if he goes back to the car.
@@TexasGreed yeah but he still asked if they were going to the woods to roast marshmallows. Like I said, I think it was the perfect mix of a dark tone and humour
I will always remember chopper Mike and his noble sacrifice. RIP Mike.
just wanted to say that yes the puzzles change based on the difficulty you play. When you have to upgrade the keycard in the facility the puzzles where you have to route power were incredibly hard on hardcore.
Dude thought it was just me 😂 spent 10 minutes just on that level 3 puzzle in the lab
That level drove me crazyy
I liked the re3 remake for what it was, but it definitely needed to include all the areas and enemies from the original for it to be truly phenominal

“The narrative we need is to respect all life, including all human beings. How do we build our reconnection to each other as human beings? Because that’s what’s going to transition us away from an extractive economy and solve the climate crisis.”
Multiple pathways was a really cool feature that should have been in the game too. Even if it ultimately didn’t matter what you chose.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
They didn't cut out much and they did add some new areas. The problem is that the original is only about a 3-4 hour game and outside of the like 14 nemesis fights there really isn't a lot of content.
They should have went all in and made a full Carlos route.
RE3 got short-changed.
RE4, even after so many years....

I love how they improved Ashley! She is really independent, brave and sweet than the original!
I'm just glad they actually made her likeable compared to so many female characters these days who are hostile, cold, and out to make men look bad. They did Ashley great.
I'm really getting old. I was 13 when the original came out and it was an absolute blast.
I was 13 when RE1 came out on PS1. You're still young.
Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma, Street Fighter.
Gigachad Capcom releasing consistently good games for years filled with love.
Not an ounce of regret pre-ordering their games.
Monster hunter rise was kinda bad though, at least compared to world. And they need to make another devil may cry game.
@@Monkeyhater98 Eh I disagree, Worlds might had better graphics and world building, but Rise for me had the superior combat, armor building, transmog and better monster roster.
Rise is different, not bad. It's like comparing Generations Ultimate to 4U.
There was one point during a cutscene where I had to go rewatch it because the way Leon’s hair moved looked so realistic I thought it was live action. Maybe im just a nerd but its the small technical advances like that that I always look out for and appreciate
Used to pull all nighters with my best friend beating this on the gamecube together. Core memory game and couldnt be happier with the remake. Nostalgia was absolutely achieved and i love that i get to enjoy this again on newer graphics ❤️
As a RE4 vet I’m pleasantly surprised that I’m getting smoked so constantly playing on Hardcore lol
I had to be so methodical with the cabin siege because they just don't let up in hardcore, just glad I made it through the water room in castle without dying
I remember buying RE4 deluxe edition in October 2022 and was shitting my pants how excited I was. Normally I never pre-order games, but I definitely had to take a risk with this one, and damn, my expectations were exceeded and I am damn satisfied. Capcom did an incredible job
I'm at chapter 9 now and I can say it's a faithful recreation and done masterfully!

Honestly, the remake is fantastic and I would nearly call it flawless if not for Ada's voice actress taking me out of any immersion I had with every scene she speaks in.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
Krausers voice is so bad too him being so high pitched and calling you rookie every 5 seconds is annoying.
@@xonpluto1305 Agreed, but still in character if you watched the Operation Javier movie; Krauser was annoying and referred to Leon as "rookie" a lot more than he used his actual name.
Yeah, she really just sounds like she's reading a script.
@@screeeeeeemttv operation Javier is in resident evil the darkside chronicles game, it’s not a movie
The only things that were left out were the truck's defense sequence, the U-3 boss fight, and the tacky Lazer dodging sequence. Overall, they added so much depth to everything that you don't even notice until you think back on the OG and compare. This game is everything it could be and more, in my opinion.
What about the lava room, the collapsing ceiling, the bulldozer, the rover vehicle which attacks ashley? They could have replaced all these things with something else that could be creepy in an already non-creepy remake but instead they add unecessary and shallow merchant side quests to increase the game length.
@@LG1204 gonna cry?
Most of the stuff that was removed was incredibly stupid and it's fine to be gone
I seen a lot of people whine about the ski-lift part of the Village being gone, but nobody ever thinks about stupid it is
You ride a ski-lift to get to some random slaughter shed out in a nowhere corner where the Village Chief just happens to be hiding in then fight him and take his fake eye to unlock the spy-movie eyelock on the gate to the Castle. Now you get ambushed and chased by him and the Villagers, go off onto a second path after the Villagers blow up the main path, get ambushed by the Chief again in a slaughter shed, fight him then flee into the Castle
U3 is the only thing I'd argue maybe should've been kept but it's already heavily speculated it's gonna be in Ada's story when they release it(they even left a note saying the Red Cloaked Verdugo goes by the designation U3)
@@SergalCheeseHead and can we talk about how the U-3 boss fight was kinda bad? the first part is the better of the two but we already had a part like it that was better (during the fight against Verdugo) and then the second part was mostly just an arena fight with a couple of mechanics to get some free damage but still mostly just running around shooting him till he dies, and i think the ramon fight fills that spot, but done WAY better
To hear him say the puzzles were braindead shocked me, some of them actually differ depending on what difficulty you're on. The only ones I really had trouble with were the computer power puzzles on the island where you had to get the power to 5 of the spots. On lower difficulties I think it changes and needs less spots powered
Yeah I noticed it too, Maximilian was playing in Hardcore and was surprised on how different the Ashley clock puzzle is. I'd imagine Professional has a different puzzle difficulty as well.
Even if you've played the remake, OG RE4 is still worth experiencing. I highly recommend those who love the remake to buy it when it's cheap on steam (there's an amazing fan mod that remasters the og)
if the humor falls flat, then it's a classice resident evil game.
Been thoroughly enjoying this game through and through. Loving the new charms and attaché cases. I changed Ashley’s outfit to the “Romantic” one, cause the original was super tacky. I’m using old sound effects so it’s even more nostalgic. I love the way the story changed, it actually made it much more enjoyable and the way it plays out almost makes it seem more like you’re playing an interactive movie. Almost like the devs took inspiration from like the last of us, or the quarry. There’s so many changes it’s basically a completely different experience while it still maintains the nostalgia and a lot of the original story just played out differently and sometimes in different order from the original game we all know and love. You don’t know where all the jump scares are, don’t know all the new puzzles by heart, you don’t know where all the bear traps and everything are so you still get caught off guard. The first big battle, the village with Dr. Sal, caught me completely off guard speaking of which, even on standard difficulty. The AI is so much more advanced and are definitely designed to work together and flank to blind spots. And even when you get overwhelmed or need to reload and run away, the groups you aren’t near don’t move so you end up running away from one group directly into another seconds later unintentionally pinching yourself. Needless to say, the game looks beautiful, which just adds even more to the experience. This is by far the best remaster or remake of any game ever. And… you can replay it all over without it ever seeming to get boring or old. I’m in love.
The puzzles do get harder between hardcore and standard, as well as some encounters like the lake monster having more rubble to navigate around, or areas having different enemy placements.
This one is sooooo good. The action, scenes, areas, all feel loyalty recreated
re4 was one of my favorite games as a kid and i still play it from time to time. i cant wait to play the remake ❤
Having beaten all resident evils this goes down as one of my favorites ❤️
It’s crazy that the foundations that made the original game a masterpiece haven’t been changed too much and they still hold up more than most games.
Was worth the pre order.
stealth mechanics, resource management, shop system being vital, players choice that affects the game as player's progress with different moral endings, dynamic environment, the handedness, evnironmental storytelling, puzzle-solving
This was such an amazing review if this game, as a fan of the classic and this one as well.
This year is already so full of amazing remakes and remasters, already have RE4, Metroid Prime, and Dead space. Let’s see if any more come out
i honestly think this has a chance at game of the year, i loved every second of this remake, even the parts i remember not liking that much in the original, like the double el gigante fight which was insanely hard for me as a little kid
i think thats mostly because the movement and combat is WAYYYYYY better in the remake
Loved the moment where Leon said:
*These residents, they're evil."
These residents are all utter flabbergasts
Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. I beat the original over 10 times playing through it on the Wii back in the day. I gotta say, using the Wii remote to actually aim the reticle really added a lot of realism and immersion to it. I just picked up the remake yesterday and I'm loving it so much so far. I love how they made it different enough to still feel like a new title while also staying true to the original. Absolutely amazing.

They definitely redeemed themselves with this Remake and I'd say it's close to being the best one so far only because I have a soft spot for RE1 Remake. I agree with the nitpicks about certain characters interactions from the original game not being there and Saddler really takes a backseat rather than having cheesey banter with Leon through comms calls earlier in the game. Definitely experienced the clunky input buffering sometimes like you did which leads to me getting hit but apart from it's an amazing game.
My farts are better than Charlie’s farts
Anyone who thinks that a static camera RE is better than 4, OG or remake, is delusional
@@JoelGarcia-lu3tw I said I have a soft spot for RE1 remake. That's because I grew up with the fixed camera angle games. Plus that game didn't have any cut content and actually added more areas, new enemies, weapons and costumes to unlock.
@@JoelGarcia-lu3tw for a more action packed game like RE4, 3rd person is better. But for a game like RE1, where you are in a closed area with small rooms and corridors, static camera is better as it contributes to the claustrophobic tone of the game. It is all about the atmosphere and style of the game.
@Joel Garcia I do think 4 is better but I'm gonna be straight with you, there's nothing wrong with fixed camera angles, its a niche appeal much like turnbased combat. Not dated, just niche.

Yeah island is a lot better here in original it was my least fav part. I loved the salazar mansion a lot
With them introducing wesker i would still like a remake of re1 in the new engine. I feel like that style of game with all the really tight corridors would be so perfect and tense and its also a better introduction to wesker who people who have not played the old ones.
Amazing review
I loved the whole shooting gallery so much
100% agree, the games a blast. Still retains all the OG goodness with a modern update. My ONLY gripe is the knife breaking system. Especially on hardcore when enemies are bullet sponges and you can find yourself out of ammo fast in certain situations. You end up wasting so much money repairing your combat knife that could have went into upgrades.
I started in hardcore, it’s not much of a problem cuz I maxed the durability, have the % off charm for knife repairs, and it’s not too expensive to repair.
If you get all of the castellans you can get an unbreakable knife after a few upgrades. Makes the stealth system and grab escapes so much more viable
@@Mono_303 Mine was consecutive chances for more handgun ammo when crafting. One was like 15% and another for 20%. And another for ammo resale. It's gacha for that.
@@ArjunB5 bruh fr, that’s dope af I gotta get to it on my second run
@@Mono_303 yeah I would recommend using an upgrade ticket on it tho. You can skip paying for like 3 durability upgrades that way since they Auto Unlock with the exclusive perk
Leon parrying a chainsaw is the best thing about this remake.
Can't wait for Ada side story gameplay and the time attack thingy with the Mercenaries
i’m glad you mentioned the game being longer because i keep seeing people complaining that it’s short because of one boss fight being removed. my first playthrough of the original was about a year ago and it took me 7 hours to complete. this remake took me 13 hours and i wasn’t doing much of the side quests or looking for treasures. if i had to go off the main path or backtrack to get something, i didn’t. yet it still was 13 hours of gameplay. also i appreciate that the boss fights have had some improvements. specifically the final boss that has 2 phases instead of just one.
Let me guess. It’s the plp who focuses on running through the story only?🙄 Without doing side quests and any backtracking for treasure the game will take less than 10hrs. They only got themselves to blame if they’re ones who made the game short for themselves.
@@Drakkon1997 Exactly. There's a lot of side missions and backtracking that awards you. First playthrough took me 26 hours.
Thanks for rescuing me and my whole platoon in Vietnam, Charlie. I'll never forget you.
for those who dont understand this comment, in march of 1967 charlie woke up one day and was like, wow, im bored, then flew out his window to vietnam and went BAM BAM BAM on all the bad bad men and pranko here was one of the people in a platoon being bullied by thge bad bad men that charlie went bam bam on, then charlie flew back to america and saved america and the end
Yeah alright punk

Fun fact (I think): the striker charm that increases your running speed is a refrence to an old glitch used by speed runners to increase running speed with the striker in the old game.
This is correct
Absolute banger of a game Near Motive’s Deadspace best remakes of the decade.
I've always had fond memories of watching my brother play the original from start to finish. I used to refer to the headless cultist enemies as "Squid face cock masters".
I remember playing RE4 in my old PC that could barely run it at 15 fps but I didn't have any alternative so I cleared the game in my shitty PC and was totally worth it :D

I beat this when I was 14. Kept giving up because the village was really hard with the tank-like controls and aiming on controller. Im sure its way easier on mouse and without moving like a tank, plus it looks like you can move some and keep shooting.
It’s actually so fun and super intense dude. Was up all night playing it. Felt like an hour passed when really it was a solid 5 hours. Almost every little sound made me jump! Yall gotta play it, definitely tops Resident Evil Village in terms of fun.
I was never so immersed in a game before
