    As if this scene isn’t PERFECT enough … just look at how perfect a “little” thing like the continuity is! From the drinking of the martini to the cleaning of the glasses, to the handling of the match, to Eva Marie’s first drag from the cigarette, it’s all PERFECT. These consummate professionals did it exactly the same way in every take.

    I'm glad that films were able to be more explicit and show more adult content overtime. But a part of me kind of misses the restrictions that forced filmmakers and writers to get creative with dancing around mature content. This scene for example, which is all innuendo and full of great dialogue and subtle acting performances complimenting it.

    Bernard Herrmann's love theme begins just as she's propositioning him--"Know what I mean?" The love theme overtakes Andrei Previn's dining car music and changes the tone of the encounter.

    • @steveember8972
      @steveember8972 Před 6 lety

      Yes, very effective transition. And not to put the dining car source music on quite the same level as Herrmann's exquisite love theme, but it does say something about Hollywood in this movie's era where the likes of an Andre Previn would provide little gems like this. Class, all the way.

    Getting all dressed up and ready to go see this picture when time was on our side and morals and values still applied. Then after this glamorous show we go for a nice dinner and discuss it over with our friends, we have a few after dinner drinks and enjoy our company making plans to see yet another show the following week. I would go back to this time if given a chance knowing what I know today in 2020 with everything upside down. Our way of life as we knew it here in America from respect, morals, values and ethics have all but gone and we have become prisoners of our own homes. It’s not what we thought the future would be like for us and I am afraid it will never ever be like it once was and so, we have these moralized pictures of a once upon time to take us back and remember what it was like for those of us that grew up in the last of the respectable generations...
