oh how i have enjoyed your channel ,i have just found you ,in 1995 the year Bob Ross passed away i began my painting journey,i was 36 ,i am now 64 ,i paint every day ,oh how i wish i sold my art but i am one of those who never wanted to market ,i do it every day with passion ,i am into watercolors in my journals ,i made many of my own journals with watercolor paper and cardstock ,i have painted cards with one stroke roses for 25 years now,i live in low income housing due to my husband of 26 years passing away.,i live well ,creating every day brings such joy

Funny enough I listen to your videos when I am experiencing art block. As a woman with ADHD and Anxiety around success and excellence I feel the need to go deeper when I feel resistance because I refuse to let the people who said it wouldn't take me anywhere, be correct. So listening to you guys while I do art and looking at other people's art and watching other people's paint process really helps me, to stay in the "art game" so to speak..🎉❤
One of my favorite things to scrape with is playing cards. I can cut them in various sizes. I also love putting tissue over areas with heavier paint then transfer some of that paint to another area of the canvas. It leaves a really cool crinkle texture. I love abstract art. ❤
I have so many unfinished items, many around me love what I sketch or paint, I suffer a bit of imposter syndrome…”granny you’re a real artist” I smile and say thank you, but I suffer more than artist block ❤ loving your channel, just found you after watching the 15 artists challenge, on holiday binge watching from NZealand
Inspirationblock!? Get yourself a subscription-box for a few months! For me the combination of not knowing what tools will be in there (feels like christmas every month) and getting tools i would have never bought by myself and a prompt or challenge has helped a lot! :-)

Hi Jake and Dimitra its wonderful to listen to you .Thank you. I used paint with Acrylic, Markers and Oil , love oil painting the most.But the difficult thing is keeping a flow in painting. Now when I listen to you ,I realise that its Artist block. Have this intense urge to paint ..but something holds me back. Please help.

Yesterday I decided to try something new. On white thick paper I painted a sea horse with metallic paint pens. I now need to ad something around him. So thinking on that while the seahorse is drying.
Something I do is simply using different papers or new supplies. Once I got some new supplies and I was testing them on paper just playing and it turned into one of my favorite paintings ❤😂

Really enjoying a lot of the videos. One thing I would note though is while people who are subject matter experts should be confident in what they present, which you all normally do... Jake says um like a million times and it is really urksome. You dont need to be nervous as you do well. It could be trying to think or remember something to say it, but it would be really great to conquer that um issue 😊

I have zero idea about what it means to make a source. I’m old old school and don’t know how to do that. I paint from my experience as a prairie gal in western Canada and often take my own photos as “reference” but what the heck does make a source even mean?😂😂

I am in the artist program and i have had one life event after another. Its like receiving punches and I am 'running up that hill ' to get in my art studio which had been literally hijacked by everyone living with me. I am so stuck. I hope to do this today for 30 minutes and i am going to try so hard to wake up at 6am. I just can't seem to wake up.
Ah that is really tough. We definitely can relate. It is hard when you have so many other commitments that you can't get out of and other things come up that take away from your creative time, but it really is so important to nourish your creativity. One tip for forcing yourself to wake up early is set your alarm with your phone and set it just outside your room or somewhere you have to wake up and get out of bed to turn it off. And have the very next thing you need to do right there next to your phone ready to go (toothbrush, most likely). Just a tip.

That definitely can be a manifestation of artist block! We'd recommend you work on 3-4 paintings at the same time so that you don't get bored with your paintings, though. And if you work at them at simultaneously in the same stage, you'll actually complete them much faster. Try working in series, too, to create more cohesive work.
